    Hi,

I've just tried to install the newest drivers on Win 10 x64, it successfully uninstalled the previous version of the Uni Xonar drivers, but failed to install the new version saying no card detected. Upon re-running the install I get an error message straight away saying no card is installed on the system.

It's still showing in the device manager saying driver provider Microsoft version 10.0.10240.16384. Tried to install official Asus beta drivers after and that too is saying error no card detected.

Any help? I haven't bricked my soundcard have I? :/

    Thanks

I had that too. I think I uninstalled new drivers, then installed some old ones which failed, then I restarted, installed the old ones again, this time successfully. For me it was Xonar DG and Win 10 x64.

Aha! I just restarted the computer and it's detected again now. I think when it cleans the old drivers, somehow windows loses the hardware, but on restart the uni drivers auto-detect the card and install succesfully.

Thanks, happy on 1.80 now 🙂

I use your driver 1.80a with my ST , on Win10 x64, Foobar>WASAPI and the sound is very good. No issues. Thanks a lot for the driver especially because Asus did not release any driver for ST on Win10. Great work!!

None of the UNi drivers work for the Xonar Essence STX with a clean Win10 Pro x64 install (I had them working fine in Win7 Pro x64).

In the Playback/Recording Devices menu I get movement on the bars to the right like the sound and mic are working, but they are not.

Maybe the Xonar card is not set as output playback device in the applications you are using, check in their options.
Also make sure the speaker connections work, try with the onboard card as well.

I have no problems with my STXII using the 1.75b r2 drivers but what is the expected release date for the 1.80b drivers?
Yes... I admit, I'm an update addict. As soon there's a new driver or signs of new driver i just need to have it although i don't have issues with the current drivers 🙂

The 1.80a drivers break front panel mic input for me. As soon as I rolled back to 1.75a, it started working again. I'm using a Xonar DGX with Win10 Pro x64.

Is there some setting I need to change somewhere, or is it a problem with the latest drivers?

With 1.80a drivers have you enabled the Front Panel Microphone in Windows Recording Devices->Microphone Proprieties->Custom or in Asus/Cmedia/XonarSwitch?
I would like to know if after you are installing 1.75a drivers you are making the change above or front panel microphone just works?

Edit: Nevermind my questions above, I figured it out. Yeah it's a problem with 1.80a drivers because of a change I made. You can enable the Front Panel Microphone in Windows Recording Devices->Microphone Proprieties->Custom.

I have STX II and using v1.75b r2 drivers on Win7 64bit. I installed them normally, not in Win Test mode. The audio works as it should!

However, the ASIO option gives an error when I choose it in my music application Cubase. The error is "Could not find kernel driver for PCIX". It does however work when using the driver from the CD, but in this case I don't have the option to change the latency.

With 1.75b r2 drivers have you reconfigured the output playback device in Cubase? Because ASIO device name and driver files are changed with UNi Xonar 1.75b compared to the original drivers.

About the ASIO latency option, it is greyed when ASIO output is in use (it is playing music). You have to stop any playback or recording and the configure. If that does not work with Cubase, close it and configure ASIO by launching the ASIO panel from right-click on Asus Audio Center tray icon.

Sorry for the late reply. The latest "UNi Xonar STXII 11.5 v1.80b r2" just won't install on my pc, Win7/64, STX II. It shows the first installation window but it doesn't get installed as the small installation window doesn't pop up. However, I can install v1.75b r2. It does show up in Cubase as "ASUS Xonar ASIO driver (64)" but when select it I get an error message "Could not find kernel driver for PCIX".

When I right click the Asus Audio Center tray icon and select ASUS Xonar ASIO, I get a window with almost no options, only the latency but it has no effect even if I change it drastically. Nothing shows up under the Device option and when I click on Advanced in the same window it says "There are no Digidesign Cards in the system".

"ASUS Xonar ASIO driver (64)" is 64-bit ASIO which does not work with 1.75b r2 drivers, that's probably why you get the error. Maybe Cubase allows you to select 32 bit (x86) ASIO.

About 1.80b r2 installation, do you get an error or something? Do you force close the UNi Xonar installer? In 1.80b r2 drivers, the small window you are talking does not appear anymore, it automatically installs without user intervention.

I uninstalled the 1.75b r2 with RevoUninstaller removing all left overs. I again downloaded 1.80b r2 and installed it with the normal settings and it got installed properly this time! I've sound and it's recognized in Cubase.

The only problem is that there is no way for me to open the ASIO control panel and change things. In Cubase the options are grayed out (the only two options are Bit-Depth and Latency). When I right click the Asus Audio Center tray icon and select ASUS Xonar ASIO it says "AVID ASIO Control panel". AVID is the company that makes Pro Tools which I also have installed on my pc. Could it be that Protools has overwritten the ASIO control options? Thank you for the help, I'll make donation!

It's strange that pressing ASUS Xonar ASIO you get some "AVID ASIO control panel" instead, especially since you haven't got that with 1.75b r2 drivers. Might be a bug in ASUS Audio Center. Anyway here is something that should help you select the ASUS ASIO control panel: ASIO settings viewer/changer . Let me know if you get here the ASUS ASIO control panel.
Just to be clear, you will only get the 2 settings in the ASUS ASIO control panel: Bit-Depth and Latency. Sample rate is dynamically changing based on played content. Any other settings you might look for would be available in Cubase.

Since you managed to get 1.80b r2 drivers installed, maybe you can give me some feedback. Does the ASUS Audio Center automatically start when your restart the PC? I'm also interested how some settings were after install, if GX was ON or OFF and if sample rate was set to 44.1KHz of 96KHz?

I actually got the same problem with the ASIO panel when using 1.75b r2. The application you gave me does show all ASIO drivers and I can finally change the latency!! Thank you! There are 5 ASIO drivers from which I can choose

                1) ASIO Avid Driver
                2) ASIO4ALL v2
                3) ASUS Xonar ASIO driver
                4) Essense STX II ASIO
                5) Realtel ASIO

The settings of the number 3 and 4 are linked to each other. So changing one affects the other.

The number 1 gives an error "No ASIO driver found. Select a valid ASIO driver or check your setup" and this is the one that shows up in the Asus Audio Center tray icon. So probably it's a broken driver that I have on my pc and it has somehow overwritten the ASIO control options. The driver name in Cubase that I use now is ASUS Xonar ASIO driver (64) and it work flawlessly! The input latency is the one that I select in the ASUS ASIO panel (using the program you just sent me) but there is a sampling rate mismatch between Cubase and ASUS Audio panel. Shoudn't these two be linked to each other or do I have to match them manually?

                  I'm glad it worked.

ASIO will adjust cards sample rate based on Cubase sample rate. You don't have to match the sample rate between Cubase and ASUS Audio Panel when using ASIO playback, you would only have to do that if you would use Direct Sound for example.

Thank you! You solved 99% of my problems. It's not a big deal that ASIO Avid Driver shows in the Xonar options, I only need to change the ASIO settings once.

Also the ASUS Audio Center starts automatically when I restart the PC.

I used your driver 1.75a with my ASUS Xonar Essence ST on Win10 x64. Worked fine. Then I tried to install the 1.80a driver and encountered two problems.
First: Norton Internet Security wanted to place all installed files in quarantaine because it thought some files contain a virus. I told Norton it can trust the application.
Second: the ASIO-driver was no longer visible for my media-apps (e.g. JRiver Media Center 21). I could not solve this problem so I reinstalled version 1.75a. Everything working fine again.
No problem, thanks for all the effort you are putting in developing independent drivers. I'll make a donation.

Antiviruses these day seem to paranoid. It probably identifies as suspicious because of the improved driver cleaner that included in 1.80a. I don't think I can do anything about the false antivirus warnings. But that's for reporting the issue.
About the ASIO output that's missing in JRiver Media Center 21, I've got another report that says it's missing also. On the other hand I have checked with JRiver Media Center 17 and I do have it there. I will have to check with a trial version of version 21 and see what's the deal.

I've checked if ASIO output is available for me in JRiver Media Center 21 on Win 10, and it is. ATM I don't know what the issue is, could be a bug in the drivers when used with Xonar ST cards.

I don't think the changes I made to rev.2 had anything to do with that. I think something went wrong the first time you've tried the 1.80 drivers, maybe Norton Internet Security still blocked some installation actions like the registration of ASIO components.

Installed 1.80b r2 yesterday on my Windows 10 Pro x64 system with a Essence STXII
Did not went 100% smooth.. Uninstalled 1.75b r2, installed 1.80b r2 with standard Asus control panel and driver cleaning option checked.
Everything installed fine but control panel does not automatically load after a system reboot. Have to go to the installation directory to manually start it. It is easily solved by adding the control panel in the windows startup folder but this step should not be necessary.

I opened the control panel and it seems that GX is enabled by default(?) At least it was enabled on my system and i never enabled it.

Don't know if it is a problem with the 1.80b r2 drivers or Xonar Switch but Switch doesn't seem to be able to change the samplerate anymore. I use two profiles which both are set to 24bit 44.1Khz. Yet in the Asus control panel it was set to 92Khz and changing profiles with the 44.1Khz setting enabled wouldn't change this, had to change it directly in the Asus control panel.

It is not really a big thing but S/PDIF out seems also to be enabled by default now. I never use optical out and now it "suddenly" was enabled after installing 1.80b r2

Other then that it all seems to work and sound fine. I'm not a "power" user though. I have 2.0 stereo monitors connected to the RCA front out and stereo headphones/headset to the headphones jack. So I don't use upmixing, Dolby this or Dolby that, just clean stereo output. So i have no idea if all those bells and whistles work as they should.

Tip for anyone looking for the best positional audio in (FPS) games; forget 5.1/7.1 or whatever gaming headsets and go for a decent quality OPEN audio stereo headphones. You will be amazed how clear and natural the direction of the sound is. Why? Because all gaming headsets are closed design cans to block any environment sound from outside. This may increase immersion but it causes a very close, narrow and unnatural soundstage... there is a reason why all good audio headphones are open design 😉 Forget all 5.1/7.1 headset nonsense and stick with good stereo headphones... you only have two ears afterall. Search youtube for Virtual Barbershop and listen to it with stereo headphones to get an example how good stereo setup work for directional sound when done right.

      Thanks for the feedback.
It looks like installation did not complete as the none of the configuration settings where applied. That's why GX was On and sample rate was set to 96KHz.
With my Xonar DX I don't have any issues of the issues you had so it may be a bug in the driver installer when installing on systems with STXII cards. It doesn't make a lot of sense since these drivers where modded after STXII drivers and should be problematic for non STXII cards if at all.
At the moment I am thinking about a solution. If I have something, like a new driver build for you to try I will let you know.

XonarSwitch sample rate changing shouldn't be affected, should work just like it did with 1.75b r2. Maybe this is also because of the partly failed installation.

Yes, 1.80a r2. I've uninstalled the drivers even before download the new ones, and I've cleaned the register before running the .exe file.

Also, when I run the .exe it says that it cant detect a Xonar device or something like that. I dont know what happens, I also tried to instal the new ones for Windows 10 on the Asus website and it still gives me an error.

Is there anyone running those drivers with a Xonar DG and Windows 10?

By the way I tried to check the BSOD with "Bluescreenview" and there's nothing there. xD That bluescreen was that hard that even Windows couldnt collect information, but I remember that it was a Driver IRQL Not Less Or Equal BSOD.

By the way, when the installation fails the program says this:

"Compatible driver was found but its installation requires that you press "install" when asked if you want to install this device hardware" press finish to exit program.

I clicked "install" at the beginning and when it tries a second installation method it does not ask anything.

I give up, I attempt to install the drivers in safe boot with drivers signature disable and it still gives me the same error. I even open the PC and cleaned the sound card and the PCI port and reset the Bios to optimize default.

One thing that I notice is that the v1.75a lets me install the drivers without specifying the Sound Card (Default card profile /audio card not listed), and it works perfect, and today I also installed them specifying the Sound Card as Xonar DG and it installed them perfectly, while the 1.80a does not have the first option and fails after specifying the sound card.

The fact that 1.80a does not let you install if you don't select a card has nothing to do with this issue.

I think this is some sort of bug with Windows 10 that prevents the installation of 1823 drivers.
