Crap, getting this odd issue now with Win 8 that I never got before. Everything will be working fine for a while then out of the blue the Dolby enhancements will stop working, and if I go into the Sound section of the control panel I get a message that says "Audio Enhancement Problem; Windows has detected that audio enhancements for the following device are causing problems" with a prompt asking me whether or not to disable the enhancements. The problem persists from this point forward and only a complete removal of the drivers and reinstallation gets it working again. But it always stops working again soon after anyway with the same symptoms.

Come to think of it, I don't think I had installed the Dolby addon since the 1.7x drivers. I'm gonna try the 1.64's, see if maybe there's some sort of issue between the newer drivers and this addon.

For those who want, I've updated the DHT mod, from Alexa, with latest version of DHT (7.2.8000.17). It use the addon system of the latest Uni Xonar Driver. You have to download the file, put it along with the uni xonar installer, run it for extract his content, run the installer and check the addon checkbox.
For information, this addon disables the installation of Asus or C-Media Control panel even if you have choose a Control Panel (because DHT don't work with Asus Panel or crash the C-Media panel when showing the mixer tab).

I don't get crashes like you say with alexa's version. What's the benefit of upgrading DHT? No asus panel or c-media? No thanks.

The Alexa mod itself don't install any panel, it's your previous or next install of uni xonar that add the cpanel (except if I missed something). The other problem is that the Uni installer contains several CmiSetupConfig.dll (one by Panel configuration) and it's this file that say what files to install/keys to add during driver installation. But the Addon system actually only permit one file. I'll try to avoid this limitation.
For the crash, one time, i've got the c-media panel that working well and others times it crashed well opening the mixer tab (not the others). For the asus panel, don't have crash but DHT didn't work. I'll check again.

We can add the reg keys through a batch file commands, leaving CMISetupConfig.dll as it were. I have done this but I can't test it right now. Here you have the batch file. You will have to put this in SetupAfter\ along with DolbyHomeTheater.msi.

I'm using win 8 pro x64, xonar DX, and 1.71 uni xonar driver. But i can't install DHT mod, always getting this message http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/5681/fnv6.jpg
    or "Please plug-in UniXonar Addon"

Ok, I've updated the package (same link as before). I've tried the install with both asus and c-media panel. For C-media, I don't get any crash this time (installed 3 times)... strange. For Asus, I have to force the GX deactivation. If GX is enabled (the HsMgr.exe running), DHT don't work. So, if you install this addon with Asus Panel, you have to reboot your PC after installation of uni xonar (and not when driver install ask you to reboot - or kill manually HsMgr(64).exe process) in order to get DHT working.

Hmm, I seem to have a problem. The Surround Virtualizer doesn't properly detect my headphones, instead thinking I have "Built in speakers" - it might be because I don't use the front panel for them (it's not connected either). However, this kind off ruins the addon for me, as I got the Xonar just for 7.1 virtualization.

The smart equalizer is great though. Any way to port that somehow?

Great work, cracrayola, thanks for sharing it! Just wanted to mention though that an easier solution to the GX/Dolby with the Asus media panel is to simply install the low-latency version. That gives you the Asus control panel sans GX, thus no conflict.

Looks like this might have just been an isolated incident from a Win 8.1 update, as it happened right after the update but has not reproduced itself since.

I sometimes have an issue where windows explorer restarts either from a crash or from something else, and this causes the audio panel icon to disappear from the notification area. I wrote these .bat files to help it reappear. The 64bit one works for sure, but i'm not sure about the 32bit since i have Win8 64. In any case, just download the bat files and test them for yourself.
It only works on the C-Media panel.

    Hi,

Has anyone figured out (or made any progress toward) getting the driver to reload settings without disabling and enabling it. I spent several hours today with an API watcher trying to figure out how the existing control panels do it (printfs around WM_CMI_NOTIFY may be promising). I think the information is being passed to the driver through the CMedia SDK as it appears to be the driver itself that updates the registry settings. Would perhaps something like SetupDiSetClassProperty() notify the changes? I believe these set the same settings as the registry keys. Unfortunately I don't have much experience with Windows development so progress is slow.

I ask as I've been tentatively working on a GUI for adjusting the 7.1 Virtual Speaker Shifter. I've managed to decode the most important parts of the VSpeakerPos key (mostly float32 centred at 0, 0), edit them and update it correctly using the registry key but obviously restarting the driver each time isn't going to work for dragging a speaker around in real time. I'm really finicky with my speaker positioning as small changes seem to hugely affect the realism of the effect for me. I would like to make a huge dialog with snapping and more precise movement.

Running Asus Xonar Essence STX with UniXonar 1818, 1.70r2 Driver on Widows 7-Pro 64bit and just installed XonarSwitch 0.9.52. My question is what is expected in the Shortcut field?
The first time I saw a SHIFT X, but now it is just blank. Is this a path for shortcut or name or what? I have attached a screen shot of the panel.

LE: Sorry, I couldn’t find a way to attach files. Hope my post is clear enough without screenshot.
