Is the Real Time Settings window crashing as well or does it open normally?

      • Catnips16 Sep 2013 @ 17:53

Clicking Real Time Settings does not open any windows and causes the tray icon to not respond to right clicks.
Double clicking still opens the Profiles window but clicking New causes it to crash.

Can you please send me an e-mail?

XonarSwitch’s tray icon -> right click -> About XonarSwitch -> click on my name.
If it’s not highlighted try closing and reopening the about window until it is: there’s anti-spam feature that might kick in

      Giulio found the fix.

I had the microphone disabled in the recording devices window.

      Everything is working fine now.

From what I see in the code it was probably bugged in previous revisions as well. I'll release an hotfix very soon. If you want to test the hotfix send me an email via about window.

Your email would be picked up by spambots, so it's better you don't write it here.

Rather, contact me using these instructions:
XonarSwitch’s tray icon -> right click -> About XonarSwitch -> click on my name.
If it’s not highlighted try closing and reopening the about window until it is: there’s anti-spam feature that might kick in

Just started using v0.9.83. Thanks for the Dolby headphone room selector.

I am no longer using Asus Xonar Audio center and have reinstall Uni drivers in "low dpc" mode. Since none of the games I play today use EAX, this also disabled GX which is fine. I created some profiles and just load them as needed. So far, it is working fine.

Can I make a donation as a gesture of appropriation?

I appriciate for the great work, runs flawless on w7x64 via DS but it will be better if it remembers the last DTS :Neo settings or if possible integrating these options to app will be great. Now after profile changes DTS:NEO options reverted back to default.

Sound Card Model : Xonar DS
    Xonar Driver Version : 8.0.8.1821
Xonar Driver Registry Key : SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}009

Anyway thanks for such a great app.

Thanks for your feedback. My sound card doesn't support DTS so it's a bit tricky to test the code I write, but I'll see what I can do.

Program crashes immediately after launching. I do not receive any visual information after starting this program. Windows Event View shows an application error for XonarSwitch.exe with error code "0xc0000005".
(I ensured that XonarSwitch.exe had read / write permissions for the folders I launched it from.)

Ok, I solved it. You need to opt out XonarSwitch.exe from DEP. I changed DEP from Opt-In to Opt-Out some time ago for security reasons.

    • Giulio17 Sep 2013 @ 15:35

I improved XonarSwitch's compatibility with DEP. From next revision onwards you'll be able to remove the explicit entry from the DEP opt-out list without it crashing on you.

I am not sure if sample rate switch is working well because I can not hear the tipical "click" in the sound card when sample rate is changed. My sound card is a Xonar DX. Does anyone has this problem?

    Thanks

Hi and thanks for your feedback.

The click you are referring to is a relay switching between rear and front output. The ASUS control panel sometimes re-sends commands to the card even though the card is already in the requested configuration. It might re-switch to front panel even though front panel is already active and you are just changing sample rate.

XonarSwitch on the other hand sends just the commands relative to parameters that are actually changing. So if you change sample rate the rear/front relay is left alone.

To check if the option is working, change the sample rate in the Real Time Settings window, or switch to a profile with a different sample rate, while playing sound. You should hear a quick interruption in the output when the driver reinitializes its internal parameters. That's the confirmation that the command sent by XonarSwitch has been accepted and executed.

In Asus Xonar DX works Fine! its incredible
    Thank you very much!!!

    suggestions
    you can add
    - Add option to not make changes for each function
    - Add support for balance or volume per speaker, very useful to calibrate 5.1 or 7.1
    - Add support SVN

Really work is much appreciated, this small program gives added value to the Asus Xonar that can not be compared with any product of competencies

    regards

      Hi.

As noted above in the post, when VSS is enabled, the profile by Luis U is loaded. That's because writing the interface to move around speakers and define your own profile visually is quite demanding and in this phase my focus is on squashing bugs.

For the time being I might add a way for the user to specify if (s)he wants to load the Luis U profile or leave the existing configuration untouched.

Just to clear things up regarding donations. In the past you've made a donation to UNi Xonar drivers (which are done by me). There isn't an association between me(UNi Xonar drivers) and Giulio(XonarSwitch).

And could make that profiles can be changed without changing the AMP settings, and to just use the current one.

With the newest version i can only change the volume of the speaker and mic, set the profile name and hotkey, but nothing else.
I can not check any checkboxes. I've read all the comments, but havnt found anything. Did i miss anything? 🙁

Thanks for that awesome application! 🙂 *thumbs up*

      Thanks.

Have you enabled AEC via script? I don't know your card model, but it could be one of those models for which ASUS doesn't enable AEC in their control panel.

If it's so, try disabling AEC via script and you should find that both the Real Time Settings window and the profile editor work normally.

It's a bit complex to explain why AEC enabled causes that kind of effect. If you have a Xonar Essence ST/STX or a Xense, in the next revision I'll experimentally activate AEC on those to see how it works.

About the DS/DSX, the feedback I have so far is that enabling AEC alone does close to nothing on them since they lack the voice processing modes needed for the feature to be fully operational, so for now AEC will stay disabled on those models.

Great little tool! Is it possible to add an Xear 3D EX On/Off function? There are a few games that benefit from the EAX emulation, would be nice to be able to switch that via profile. Also, would it be possible to add profile switch via command line params? That would make XonarSwitch scriptable, so one could for instance write a small batch file to switch to a GX enabled profile, start a game, and switch back to a non-gx profile after the game's been exited.

Thanks for your feedback, I've added your feature requests to my list.
Command Line params will probably come sooner than GX support, since I need to learn more stuff about the inner workings of the card driver before I can go the GX route.
