I have been using your drivers for a couple of years now. Am very pleased with their operation and want to give you a huge thanks for all your efforts in creating them.

I am going to be using Active Crossovers in my system and need to get 9 channels from my Asus Essence ST Soundcard. It has been suggested that I could use the SPDIF output to my Behringer DCX2496 as the 9th channel.

I use JRiver as a media player and they can easily output 9 channels but I am wondering if the Essence ST with your drivers can somehow deal with 9 channels? My concern is how the SPDIF output could be made to give a different signal than any of the regular 8 channels.

Any ideas would be really appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Rod

Don't think such thing is possible, but regardless, this is out of my reach. Sorry.

Thanks for your comments, and I am not surprised - Didn't seem very likely to me.

BTW forgot to mention that I donated some time back. Really do appreciate all your efforts on the drivers and your good support here.

        Cheers,

I've checked them and these are in fact 1816. Driver package name is a typo.

I guess they will release a new driver for win 8.1 soon when I read comments here describing some incompatibility issues in final version of win.

        That's what I'm for.

Windows 8.1 RTM seemed like a good improvement vs 8.0 or even the 8.1 Preview Build, but this issue was just a complete deal breaker for me, which is a damn shame.

Yes they should release drivers fully compatible for Win8.1 somewhere around its official release date, but sadly with ASUS we can't be sure they will do this soon.

There is a possibility to switch for example central canal to frontal speaker so we can connect speakers and headphones at the same time on the back of the case?

No, the question is not clear. What you wrote does not make sense.
I think you want is to have the sound coming from the speakers (connected to the front channel) be cloned to another channel (like rear or center) where you can connect your headphones. Something like this will be applicable if you have no more that 2.0 or 2.1 speakers. Guide for WIN7/8: Enable stereo upmix if you’ve installed the drivers without it. In the panel Set 2 channels and 4 speakers. You might want to have change the connections as well, anyway check that you’ve connected the subwoofers to the rear channels. Don’t enable any other options like Dolby Prologic.
If you have windows XP then there is a different guide for that.

Any idea if I can get a D1 to work in a PCI-X slot on a server motherboard? I'm having lots of funky problems with both the Asus and UNi drivers.

To clarify, everything is fine with 2 channels or low sample rates. If I go to 5.1 or above or increase the sample rate, bad things happen.

There are some PCI to PCI-X adaptors but those come with other problems.
Try older UNi Xonar driver releases, try with a clean Windows install, try updating the motherboard's bios. You should also consider that maybe your card has a hardware problem, so maybe you can try and check it in another PC.

I think you're thinking of PCI Express (PCIe). I'm talking about PCI-X, the longer, 64-bit version of PCI slots that's found in some server motherboards. The PCI card fits directly into the PCI-X slot....it just doesn't use up the full connector. PCI cards are supposed to work normally in PCI-X slots but this is my first time actually trying it.

I've also verified the card works fine on an older (X48 chipset) system with normal PCI slots.

Hey. I'm having a problem. I am using the Xonar DGX. Whenever I try to install the drivers, right after I accept the license agreement before it starts to extract (I think it's extracting) I immediately get a BSOD. I tried the driverclean.bat file + Driver Sweeper + CCleaner as well and it brings me to the same problem. Even tried installing in Safe Mode, leads to the blue screen. It will be different errors each time pretty much. The thing is I can install the real Asus audio drivers provided on their site just fine without a blue screen. It's just the UNi ones. Wondering what you think may be the problem.

Can’t edit post but I realized it’s not when it’s extracting. It’s when installing after license agreement.

On this issue I think you are the first one mentioning this.
Please tell your OS, and which drivers have you tried from both UNi and Asus. Have you changed the options in the UNi Xonar installer, does this happen with the "default" options?
I would recommend trying previous UNi Xonar releases like 1.64 drivers and lower and see if you still get BSOD or not.

      Wow, that's too bad mate.

I also went through that a couple of months ago. Xonar DS wouldn't install at all on 8.1. 8.0 works perfectly though. Hopefully ASUS releases their updated drivers soon.

What kind of issues do you have?
Don't have an ETA on new drivers yet. The new audio drivers have to be released by Cmedia or any of it partners. When that happens I will do my best to release them as soon as possible.

The volume is very low and sound is kind of rugged. That happened after update to 8.1 - same drivers worked great on Windows 8. Then I've removed the drivers and installed them again. No luck - the same issue appears. Thanks a lot.

    Hi
A friend of mine who i sold my Xonar DX have the "Right channel issue" that gets almost silent randomly..The rig is an amd Phenom X2 , 4670 vga, 4gb ram, w7 X64, Asus Xonar DX
I read around that Asus didn't gave a definitive solution and some users have a feeling that the GX is the culprit..What i've done is uninstall oficial Asus drivers from his PC and put Unixonar 1.71 low latency driver..I let a couple of days for him to test the "Fix"... Also some people on Asus forum report that the issue is on w7 x64 and not on w7 x32..Also he needs w7 x64 so i can't just switch..
I need to know if there is another solution to this problem other than removing the GX...

    Thanks

You might want to try to install the (PLX) firmware update for the card if haven't done that. This firmware usually applyies for cards manufactured 2 years ago or more. It fixes more things than those in the log. For downloads and instructions go to Asus download page, select Windows XP, and go to Utilities and download PLX firmware update Ver 1.1. It works on Win7 regardless that you selected WinXP.

Other that this, I don't know what else can be done. I might be a incompatibility with the motherboard.

I remember that i flashed with 1.0 PLX firmware but not 1.1..Durring the time i owned the card i didn't have this problem..

How do I know what firmware my D2X is using? I bought this only two weeks ago would it be safe to say I already have latest version?

        Thanks

        • CarvedInside21 Oct 2013 @ 15:28

If your D2X is a brand new card you don't have to worry about firmware update. That firmware update is for cards manufactured more that 2 years ago. I don't think there is a way to verify the firmware installed, except running the firmware update tool, and you will be prompted if you already have the latest version installed.

these 🙂 the way i do the install on my windows 8 64 bit is to first remove all traces with driver fusion, restart, check again if entries left, a cc cleaner quick check of registry entries, then enable test mode... then restart, then install and it should work fine. i installed the default options. you might also want to try to install the dx or dg driver for yours (not sure it works).

So I tried emailing both C Media and ASUS regarding drivers for 8.1, but so far nothing, well C Media did reply but for some reason they replied with the following:

    "Dear SIR~
    Please help provide below information.
    COMPANY NAME:
    COMPANY NATION:
    OTHER CONTACT WAY:
    PRODUCT APPLICATION:
    C-Media MODEL NAME:

Once receive, we will transfer to relative sales.
    Thanks for your helping
    :)"

Let's hope ASUS replies soon lol.

Couple of things I'll like to mention as well, here's a response from an ASUS rep regarding the Windows 8.1 compatibility for the Xonar STX:

"There will be no 8.1 drivers for the STX. An updated model will be released that works with the default UAA driver for WHQL compliancy. Without that update MS won't allow WHQL. It's one of the ICs on the card that needs updating. Just how MS is unfortunately."

The last thing I wanted to bring up is that, I just discovered this compatibility center over at Microsoft website that pretty much tells you if your hardware is compatible with their OSes, and when I searched for ASUS Xonar DS, it does say that it's compatible with 8.1 (which is weird since mine completely failed when the RTM 1st launched over at Dreamspark), and it even redirects me to ASUS' download center for the drivers, but the drivers over there are around a year old. Hopefully I get a response from ASUS soon.
