After update app won't run. It says "Run-time error '453': Can't find DLL entry point SetProcessDEPPolicy in kernel32.dll". WinXP x64 SP2.

Nope, it isn't working. I've found archive with 0.9.52 version, but i don't think this info will do any help.
There is four options for /noexecute in boot.ini: OptIn, Optout, AlwaysOff and AlwaysOn. I've tried all of them, nothing changes.
Which of them should i set for your app?
Is there any chance you can provide version 0.9.83 without autoupdate? It was working just perfect for me.
I will test new versions if needed.

Please don't lower your security settings to run XonarSwitch. The crash isn't caused by DEP in itself but rather by the way XonarSwitch is trying to address another DEP-related crash on more recent versions of windows, so you wouldn't achieve the goal anyway and in turn you could expose your machine to malicious code.

I think I've identified the problem. I've sent you an email with a private build to test that I expect will run without problems on your machine. Please let me know if that's the case, so I can release an effective hotfix for the bug your reported.

Hey can anyone explain me the "dont change" feature? Especially for enhancements like DTS Neo. Sorry but i dont get it how to use this and what is the benefit. Is it possible to adjust DTS NEO PC or Dolby Pro Logic IIx for movie / music like in C-Media panel and adjusting the center stage for them? Hope u know what i mean. Thanks in advance for any help with this and great piece of software Giulio! Please keep up the great work!

      Hi.
Before the "Don't Change" option was implemented, XonarSwitch would reset DTS:NEO to its default layout each time you activated or deactivated it, either via profile switching or in the Real Time Settings window.

Since for the time being there isn't an interface in the app to calibrate DTS:NEO the way you can in the offical control panel, the new option has been added to avoid overwriting the settings you might have in place, while still being able to switch DTS:NEO on and off.

The current situation is still far from optimal, because the lack of an interface doesn't allow to define differnt layouts for different profiles. That will hopefully come in future revisions.

The same goes for Dolby ProLogic IIx, but in that case the "Don't Change" option ins't available yet.

    Hi Giulio,
Running Asus Xonar Essence STX with UniXonar 1818, 1.70r2 Driver on Widows 7-Pro 64bit and just installed XonarSwitch 0.9.52. My question is what is expected in the Shortcut field?
The first time I saw a SHIFT X, but now it is just blank. Is this a path for shortcut or name or what? I left an image at Bithawk.imgur.com of the panel settings I am using.

    • Giulio23 Sep 2013 @ 12:26

The shortcut field is a global keyboard shortcut used to switch to that particular profile.

The field is emptied when you press DELETE or a key modifier (CTRL / ALT / SHIFT) and it's filled again when you press a valid key with or without a modifier while the focus is on that textbox. When you are satisfied with your shortcut choice, click or tab away so the profile editor stops capturing your keypresses. When you save the profile, the shortcut is registered as a global shortcut, meaning it's system-wide and works from inside any application.

Originally in the version I had developed for myself I could switch profiles only using the tray icon's context menu, but then I found it inconvenient when I was inside full screen applications like games, so I added the shortcut option.

    Hi,
After update to version 0.9.109 i can not switch between analog outputs. It reports "Run-time error '381' : Invalid property array index" and the program closes. The results is the same if I try to activate the AEC. My card is a xonar DX and I use Windows 8 x64

        Hi Giulio,

It works now, but I have found another issue. Xonarswitch runs automatically at startup, but configurations in the System tab do no work after restart. That is the Audio Layout, Master Volume and Mic Volume. However if I close the Xonarswitch application a run manually again, Xonarswitch works perfectly, even System tab configurations.

What do you mean exactly by "do not work"?
          - Do they work in real time setting?
          - If you switch to a profile that changes one or more of those settings does it work or not?
          - Are the volume controls disabled, or enabled but seem to do nothing?

I need more details because I can't seem to be able to reproduce this one.

The volume controls and audio layout are enabled but do nothing. I can change the configuration but it does not affect. If I closed the application and I open it again, the volume control and audio layout now change the settings and work properly. For example, after restart Windows I can play music and listen to it even if I set the volume control to 0 in Xonarswitch. However, if I close the Xonarswitch and start it again, the volume control now sets the master volume of Windows.

I have not tried the profile settings. I am not at home at the momment. Later I will try it.

I have tried the profile settings and the volume controls still do not affect. I have created a profile with volume control to 50%. The master volume of Windows is set to 100%. When I activate the profile, the volume of Windoes remains to 100%.

I suspect it's a timing problem of sorts. Probably some service or driver isn't fully started when XonarSwitch is launched and that causes its system calls to be ineffective from then on. By the time you manually restart the app, all the system services and drivers have finished loading and all is well. The reason I can't reproduce the problem on my system could be because I have an SSD, so my timing could be different, or a difference in the way Windows 8 starts up compared to Windows 7 (which I have) and so on.

Usually solving this kind of problem takes quite a bit of time. I'm rewriting exactly the part of code that deals with those system calls, in an attempt to add support for the mixer both in profiles and real time settings window.

Usually bug fixing has a higher priority than new features, but in this specific case I feel it could be more efficient to just see how the new code will work and fix that instead of the current one, which is going to be obsolete soon anyway.

Do you guys think it's too much of a hassle to manually restart XonarSwitch every time until the new revision is ready? If you can cope with that I'd rather use my time to finish the new code.

No for me there is absolutley no problem with it. Take the time u need and the steps you need to developing this software further and make it greater! Btw i have to report with version .110 my problems with this are away. I have a SSD too. Atfer updating to version .110 this problem is gone for me. But nevertheless it would be great to test and run the new code! 😀 Best Regards

It seems we can't set dts or dolby settings such as movie or music mode. So this tool is pretty useless for now. I can't see an option for SVN either.

      Thanks for your feedback.

Right now the app is far from being complete. I've started by sharing something I had written for myself, to debug it on other hardware / windows versions than mine, and I plan to keep expanding its functionalities to make it more complete.

I understand in your case the features that are still missing are exactly those you need, so it's not very attractive for you at the moment, but they might be added in the future, depending on my spare time and feedback from other testers.

An excellent application. Comfortable, minimalist design, and functionality. This is exactly what I wanted. For completeness, lack of other opportunities available in the original "Xonar Audio Center.
I hope in future versions it will be added, and then it will be possible to uninstall audio Center. And of course my thanks to CarvedInside, because he is engaged in what should be an Asus.

    Hi,

I've noticed that the program auto-updates itself. However, after each reboot, it constantly shows an information baloon about the last update.

Finally, a suggestion: it could be nice that the color of the icon changes for the different presents (maybe by assigning a color to a preset) so that one could just notice the current preset by just looking at the icon.

      Hi.

What you mention is actually a bug that is solved in the last revision. Since it prevents the autoupdate feature from working normally, you will need to manually download the latest version and overwrite the bugged one. You'll get the message one more time, after which hopefully everything should work correctly.

I've took a note of your suggestion, thanks for submitting your feedback.

Autoswitch depending on process creation / termination is something that's been in my mind since I started developing XonarSwitch. I plan to start experimenting with that when more features of the original control panels are covered.

Theoretically that bug should be fixed, so here go two questions:

Are you running the latest revision(113)?

          and

When you click on "Automatically Run at Startup", does a check mark appear on the left side of the menu?

If you are stuck with revision 104 saying it automatically updated every time you start the app, you need to manually download revision 113 and overwrite the old one. From then on you'll get the message once more and that should be it.

Is there any way to allow XonarSwitch to work for normal users without having to log in as an admin? I tried creating a scheduled task to start it with administrative privileges, but couldn't get the XonarSwitch system tray icon to appear for a normal user, plus it was sitting in the background using 33% CPU resources doing nothing when started this way with Task Scheduler, until manually ended.

    • Giulio10 Oct 2013 @ 22:03

      Not currently I'm afraid.

After I implement the mixer I plan to check and see if I can keep all the user base updated to the latest version while supporting users that don't rely on an administrative account for everyday activity.

The reference to update is because the autoupdate feature is the main reason XonarSwitch currently requests administrative privileges, which lead to the behavior your observed while logged as a normal user.

Is there an option for a microphone in to work at 192khz input? Line-in works okay, but when it comes to Mic in, it switches to 48khz according to an Audacity spectrogram, and that sucks.
