I've a problem with the Uni Xonar Driver in correspondence with the Dolby Home Theater. When I try to listen to my owned music, everything is fine. But! I also have an Xbox Music Subscription on Windows 8.1 and for me it is not possible to listen to the Music via Stream, nor to the downloaded content from the marketplace. I know that some guys have also problems with XBOX Music and there is a guide of adding values to the registry, but that's not the point for me. I stumbled across an error message when I clicked on the Windows-Soundsettings Button in the Digital Audio Setup of my NVIDIA Panel. A window appeared and asked me if I would like to deactivate the audio enhancement because of some incompatibilities. I clicked YES and voilà XBOX Music worked again, but Dolby Digital Home not. Can someone confirm this problem or has a solution for this. I don't want to live without DHT any more, so the only "solution" for me would be the unsubscription of XBOX Music... Thank you in advance!

Im on windows 8.1 and have a xonar essence STX. the drives on asus for xonar essence stx dont have 8.1 support... never will.

Now the issue is that i need to turn off driver signature enforcement everytime i boot. which is a pain... 8 tabs of options to go through each time i need to restart. or else it wont load then i need to unisntall and reinstall

can someone lead me to a permanent fix to either turn off driver signature enforcement forever or a way to sign it myself. and which file to sign if that

Drivers should work without driver signature enforcement. Try following the possible solutions from this page.
Now if that does not work , I have provided how to enable Test Mode which should take care of driver signature problems. Note that in this case you may need to install UNi Xonar drivers with Driver signature bypass option checked.

its installed it and still have issue when restarting without disabling sig enforcement.
im again on a 64 bit os if it makes a difference to your drivers.. it works on restart only when i turn off enforcement but when i restart it normally it doesnt work at all. no sound manager and in the sounds control panel theres no speakers or headphones or even microphone for my setup. im using xonar essence STX on 8.1 pro x64.

NVM your method worked. was a fresh install so i had no extracting software like 7z or wrar.
it worked. no force drive signature required...
i think through install it doesnt ask if i agree to trust software from you so it says that the files werent being agreed with for install.. but if you do it through device manager you see it ask and click on always trust. thanks for having support for the os that doesnt work with their official drivers.

    Hi,

Just did a fresh install of Windows 8.1 and for some reason the Front Right speak won't work at all. I have a true 5.1 headset (a bit gimmicky I know) with the Xonar D1. As a test to see if any hardware is broken, I tested it for both speakers and headset (I have 2.1 speakers too) so I believe the issue may be driver related as the problem is the same for both. I have checked the physical connections and they are definately in the correct place.

I have tried re-installing a few times, with different settings but just can't seem to get it to output front right.
    Any idea's?

Try different drivers. Try making a temporary Win7 install and check there too, could be the card.

Which drivers have you tried? Try 1.71 and 1.64. Use Asus panel or XonarSwitch to change the audio settings. Update Adobe Flash.

Check to see that you still have Speakers - Asus Xonar Audio device as default in Windows Volume->playback devices. If that's not it, uninstall the drivers and start again. LE: Try changin settings with Asus Panel if you've used C-Media.
Helping people through Remote assistance is way above my paygrade.

I'm unable to get any audio from my rear speakers no matter what settings I use, I've tried Analogue, SPDIF, 5.1, 7.1(With sides or rears disabled), Logitech Z5500's with the D2X on Win 8.1, anyone have a solution to this?

Which panel have you used to change settings? If you've used C-Media, then try with Asus panel or with XonarSwitch.

So quick update fellas, I just managed to install the stock ASUS Xonar drivers for my Xonar DS under Windows 8.1, so far everything is working as planned (:fingers crossed:), but I have a quick question, how do I stop the ASUS Audio Center from starting with Windows? I also have 2 processes for GX, should I disable them? Please reply soon thanks!

      Start/Run->Msconfig->Startup Tab
uncheck AsusAudioCenter.exe to disable control center
      uncheck HsMgr.exe to disable GX

Look for "CmiCnfg Dynamic Library" in msconfig, under that name starts Asus Panel.

Btw. If original Asus drivers worked, I don't see any reason why UNi Xonar drivers would not. What driver version have you installed now?

The ones listed for the DS under Windows 8, Version 8.0.8.1815.

To tell you the truth, I went with the official ones because an ASUS rep responded one of my emails saying that those in fact worked under 8.1 as well, I haven't tried the UNi drivers with 8.1 updated with the GA patch though. Will definitely try it later on.

The official drivers might work, but it's just barely. There's a whole bunch of missing features and no stereo upmix which would drive me insane.

What is the best setting for headphones for fps games? I'm a bit confused, some people say to just leave it on headphone mode whereas some people say to set it on 8 channels.

    • Cruxx02 Nov 2013 @ 16:09

It depends on your game. You should select the input as the number of channels that your game has. As for the output, you can play with different setting (7.1 virtual/DolbyPrologic/environment/layout) til you find the one you like.

The channel will be how meny speaker you outputting to. For example 2 channel = 2.0, 6 channel = 5.1 and 8 channel = 7.1

Is there a way to set SPDIF/Dolby digital live feature by code? I'm interested because I've an Htpc and when I used it, fired by LM remote KeyMap profile events, I need to switch on the SPDIF with DD and back off exiting the Media Center.

When I start the Htpc I would to start the SPDIF/Dolby digital live feature, virtually checking the option but using an external call (Dll, Exe..) .
For example when I start the Htpc I already launch a catalyst profile with the Amd Cli.exe command line utility, to shutdown a monitor and start the other one.

          That's not possible.
There is a possibility that automatic profile switching will be added to Giulio's XonarSwitch in the future.

I've been experiencing quite a strange issue recently, and it'd be great if you'd be able to shed some light on it.
I've recently been playing Battlefield 4, which I play on my Astro a40 headset running through the MixAmp, connected to my computer via SPDIF. I also have a set of 2.1 speakers connected via 3.5mm to my soundcard. However, randomly upon closing the game, my speakers will make a blaring looping noise, which can be quite a pain when shutting down late at night. It goes away if I swap my output device back to the speakers, but I was wondering what could cause this issue. It doesn't seem to happen with other games, but I haven't been playing many others recently.

I'm not sure what could be the cause of this. Could be some bugs with the drivers or it could be a issue with the game. While the following tips might not help with your problem, I suggest you try them since there isn't much else we can do at this point.
Install drivers with C-Media or Low DPC Latency panel configuration. Try different drivers , ie if you have currently installed 1.71 then try 1.64 drivers and vice versa. Change/leave sample rate at 44.1KHz if you've changed it.

I have my Sennheiser PC 360's connected to the quarter inch jack's (via 3.5mm to 6.3mm [i.e 1/4 inch] adaptors). In the windows audio thing, in the properties for 'Speakers' (which are producing the sound) it says it is connected via RCA jack, which I am clearly not. However, in the properties for 'S/PDIF Pass-through device' it says it's connected via those self same quarter inch jacks but it produces no sound. Why is this? If I disable 'S/PDIF Pass-through,' will I experience a drop in sound quality (which I had done and suspect was the cause of some recent distortion issues I had been having)?

The adapter you are using is 6.3mm to 3.5mm and not 3.5 to 6.3 which is a totally different thing!
It's a Windows reporting issue. The card has it's own functioning scheme. As long as it's working properly I don't know why do you bother with these little things..
There is no harm in disabling S/PDIF Pass-through, it has nothing to do with sound quality over the RCA/6.3 jacks.
