now and then the default driver over windows 8.1 seems to just stop working and only reset solve this... does the uni driver fix that issue ? or the version of it to 8.1 is not ready yet?
CarvedInside29 Dec 2013 @ 03:38
Specifically no. If you are using older original drivers (<1821) than the ones included in the latest UNi Xonar release there is a chance they could work differently.
These UNi Xonar drivers are modded drivers based on the original driver. I can't fix compatibility with Win8.1 through modding. I will release a new UNi Xonar driver package as soon as I can get my hands on new original drivers from C-Media or any of its partners.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to remove the powerstate function of the Xonar DG card? My soundsticks III power down after about 2 mins of inactivity.
I used the registry to change the powerstate values for the AMD audio and HDAudio but could not find a similar entry for the Xonar DG.
I am using the latest Uni Xonar drivers 🙂

I'm on Windows 8.1 with all updates installed, using UNi Xonar Drivers 1.71 with Essence STX, and I'm experiencing audio dropouts when watching movies and listening to music on both my surround sound system and headphones. I was running dpclat to check for DPC spikes when the dropouts occurred and there were no spikes. Any idea what the issue is?
CarvedInside06 Jan 2014 @ 20:41
Try the new 1.72 drivers. Don't enable GX. If you still have the issue, check using onboard audio card to see if it has anything with the Xonar card.

Hi. I want to install UNi Xonar driver and use XonarSwitch but I don't know which presets should I use. Thanks to XonarSwitch I don't need Asus Panel or C-Media Audio Panel but if I install preset "Low DPC latency", do I have "better sounding Dolby enhancements" and "fixes some audio glitches using Dolby" (which are in "C-Media Audio Panel" preset)?
CarvedInside03 Jan 2014 @ 18:45
Select "Low DPC Latency" preset/configuration.
The "better sounding Dolby enhancements" statement applies strictly to the panel used (Asus vs C-Media Panel), and for example in Low DPC Latency preset you can access both. In the past, Dolby enhancements settings where different depending on which panel would you use to activate them. Now I don't know, I will have to check this and also see which settings Giulio uses in XonarSwitch at this moment.

Sir can i use this for xonar phoebus? thanks
CarvedInside07 Jan 2014 @ 02:26
No. Phoebus support can't be added to these drivers. Sorry.
martin07 Jan 2014 @ 01:31
does 1.72 also fix the non working mic every approx. 10th boot?
CarvedInside07 Jan 2014 @ 17:53
Don't know. You should try them.
I haven't encountered this issue with any of the drivers. Could be something else.
Which card and OS do you have?
TheRuslu07 Jan 2014 @ 02:00
Cheers for the latest version, seems to be sounding a bit better on than previous drivers, although nothing significant.
Xonar DX on Windows 8.1 x64.
CarvedInside07 Jan 2014 @ 17:54
Thanks for the feedback. 🙂
Cajenna07 Jan 2014 @ 03:42
Hi all,i have a troubles with my asus xonar dgx and Windows 8.1 x64,sometimes its hung-up or freeze with all drivers to 1.71r2; did the 1.72 fix the problem?
Sorry for my poor english
larry07 Jan 2014 @ 15:28
hi Cajenna,
is this happening while using the Xbox Music App? I have this issue when playing from within the App and i get the RPC service hanging up my PC for up to half a minute at 10-15 minutes interval. Other than this the drivers seem fine.
semtexxl07 Jan 2014 @ 18:48
Thanks for the new drivers! I already tested them and everything is working flawlessly. I remember there was a bug in previous uni package 1.71 causing muting both simultaneously playing streams while one of them was exclusive audio output. (Wasapi) I can confirm that at least for my configuration there is nothing like that anymore. I also noticed the new logo of your packages and one interesting fact. I'm using C-Media panel drivers and there is clearly some new option under DSP's called Xear Surround Max also available with 6CH input/output options. I may be mistaken but there was only Xear 3D and 7.1 Virtual Speaker Shifter available for 6CH in/out.
CarvedInside07 Jan 2014 @ 21:16
Thanks for the feedback. Let me know if you come to notice any issues.
Talking about the new button "Xear Surround Max", it's actually to enable/disable stereo upmix, it does the same thing as the checkbox in the UNi Installer.
semtexxl08 Jan 2014 @ 01:00
Interesting and very clever solution. Thanks for clarification.
larry07 Jan 2014 @ 22:32
with that surround max the highs and mids are way better and i seem to have squeezed the last bit of goodness out of my speakers. no flex bass and the room is shaking.
Frankie09 Jan 2014 @ 14:22
1.72 working superb here Windows 8.1 thanks

Daedalus10 Jan 2014 @ 14:28
Hi CarvedInside,
I'm experiencing a recurring issue regarding these drivers (and drivers in general) for my Xonar and was wondering if I could contact you somehow? Otherwise I suppose I could write the issue here if you prefer, although I suspect there might be some messages back and forth for a while.
CarvedInside11 Jan 2014 @ 03:02
Hi. I would prefer that you write your issue here since others could contribute.
I am not sure I can help but go ahead.
Samuray11 Jan 2014 @ 09:36
Hello CarvedInside! Help please. I do not have "Microphone boost." Sound Card Asus Xonar DG. This problem and on the official drivers. I thought maybe you know how to fix this problem.
P.S. Sorry for bad English.
CarvedInside12 Jan 2014 @ 02:29
Hi. Did you follow the instructions from the Xonar manual on how to enable mic boost?
Samuray12 Jan 2014 @ 16:36
Oh, I don't found manual on how to enable mic boost 🙁 Could you tell where this manual? Sorry for the stupid question.
CarvedInside12 Jan 2014 @ 19:33
I'm talking about the manual that came with the card. You can also download it from the Xonar DG page from ASUS website.
In the manual it shows where the microphone boost option is.
Samuray13 Jan 2014 @ 06:43
I need a slider mic boost to increase dB http://s001.radikal.ru/i195/1401/0a/d37206c904ec.png (i'm sorry for post links) I don't have slider as in the screenshot.

CarvedInside13 Jan 2014 @ 13:51
You should have mentioned this in your first comment.
That option is not available on Xonar cards, you can only turn Mic Boost on (at full mic boost volume) and off.
Samuray13 Jan 2014 @ 15:27
Oh, ok, thanks! Sorry please, because of poor English I bad explained, sorry.
