offtopic (not UNi Xonar related):
Hello guys,

I'm having the following problem. Soon I purchased H6 extended board to complete the HDAV 1.3 Deluxe version of the Xonar board in order to use an analog input.

My system is:
Intel Core 2 quad Q9300
MB gigabyte P35T-DQ6
2 x 4 GB RAM
Logitech Z906 5.1 system
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
Sound driver version: PCI_HDAV_7.12.8.1794_W7

I've tried to run the analog output through H6 board but I got the following problem:
There was sound only from Side L/R back speakers channel from H6 board and which comes from the front speakers.
And there was a stereo channel of the main board too (white/red out) and there was no sound of other channel - Center/ subwoofer and front speakers!
But I think it's not the right way of connection because I think for 5.1 systems it should connect only the H6 output directly to amplifier of the Logitech Z906 (subwoofer back).
I've tried everything install/reinstall Asus xonar drivers but there is no result.
The cables is OK.
The S/PDIF out is working properly, but I want to use analog PCM out.
Was there anyone similar problem because I've tried everything with no result so far πŸ™

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Vlady

Hi,

I've noticed this strange sound since using this drivers which I thought was only happening when I used SVN but have just noticed it without it.
When I stop audio playback, with or without SVN, I can hear this odd noise which fades in, gets slowly louder then stops suddenly after about 20 seconds.
With SVN on I can hear it during audio playback too.

Just wondering if this is a know issue? I'm using 8.1.8.1822

It's not a known issue and I don't think anyone else reported something similar. Are you sure you don't have this issue with other drivers?

Hi CarvedInside,
I run a Xonar DG PCI under Win 7 64-Bit.
Everytime my system wakes up from sleep the audio device has disappeared. The only fix is to reboot the machine. After reboot the device appears again and drivers (1.72) are working nicely again.
Do you have any idea what I can do (or you can do to fix it πŸ˜‰ ?
Thanks in advance for your help and for your great work!
Cheers
Oliver

Have you tried different drivers? After wake up, does you card show as a Unknown device or Multimedia Device in Device Manager, or it does not show up at all?
Try different drivers if you haven't until now. Try a different PCI slot. Try you card in a different PC. It could be something wrong with your Windows installation, it could be something wrong with your motherboard or it could be something with the card itself.

Hey,
thanks for the prompt reply!
After wake up the card does not show at all in the device manager. After reboot it magically reappears.
I've tried all PCI slots, all with the same result.
I have tried the original Asus drivers that came with the card as well as the latest driver from the Asus website. With the Asus driver I wasn't even able to install the driver since the setup program always asked me to install a Xonar device (which was already installed and which also showed up in the device manager) and would not continue the setup.
Will have a look if there is a new BIOS and/or chipset driver version for my mobo.
So generally speaking the Xonar DG and UNi Xonar drivers should support wake up after sleep?
Cheers

Hi CarvedInside and others,

Is there a way to have independent volume control for analog and digital output? Actually I already will be happy to have just volume control for analog out. Digital out of course is managed by the receiver. Currently when using any volume control, both output ways are affected. I haven't found any option/workaround.

Thanks!
Sebas.

Hello,
I'm trying to have a low ASIO latency setup on my XONAR STX to play virtual pianos on my keyboard.
I use the C-Media Audio Panel which should allow low latency (if I choose "Low DPC latency" at installation, the drivers are not installed, the card is not recognized by windows).
I installed the drivers and followed the optimization recommandations of the guide (set 48 kHZ, 24 bit).

If I reduce the latency in the ASIO panel to a value lower than 20ms, there are cracklings...

Any idea what the problem could be?
I tried the latest drivers as well as the stable ones.

Win7 x64 fresh install
Core i3 Haswell + 16 GB RAM
XONAR STX on analog 2.0 output
Steinberg the Grand 2 piano

Hi Jeremie,

Have you tried using ASIO4ALL drivers? Yes, they are third-party drivers but they work better than any official drivers I've ever used. They work great with my Xonar Essence STX 2 and I get 10ms latency without any audio problems.

I highly recommend trying the ASIO4ALL drivers.

Just want to say thank you for putting all the time and effort into making these drivers. I ran into problems with the original drivers (sounds just started coming only from the right channel). I installed these drivers and everything works perfectly.

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing. Strange, I mean those who have one channel drop issue, do have it with both original drivers and UNi Xonar drivers (at least until the 1.72). Hopefully it will continue to work fine for you.

I would like to thank the author of these drivers for his hard work. They work seamlessly with Windows 8.1 and I would donate if I wasn't an unemployed university graduate.

Just noticed that safe mode is no longer required for the drivers to work on Windows 8.1. You’re doing an amazing job here, no thanks to ASUS. I’m never buying an ASUS product again.

I have a Xonar STX. Is it possible to switch between headphones and speakers using software with the UNI drivers? The card has a dedicated headphone plug and I'd like to have them both constantly plugged in. Already installed the drivers using low DPC setting.

Hello!
I recently acquired a Xonar DX and am currently running it with your unified drivers. Though I have read about ASIO4ALL lately and even see mentions of something similar in here. I read about what it does and it seems interesting but I wonder a couple of things: first off is the ms thing (usually around 10) people talk about only here when asio is set up or is it the case without it anyway?
Also, can I just install ASIO4ALL on top of your drivers?
Thanks!

Another question.
I'm using a headphone, running everything in stereo. Most of the movies I watch are encoded in 5.1 I guess, forcing to use 6 channel as input (and headphones as output). I only play one game that uses 2d miles audio, and rest is music (FLACs). I don't get any audio loss ingame or while listening to music leaving it on 6 channels, but everywhere I read about people using 2channels. How comes?
Thanks

BSOD in cmudaxp.sys after Windows 8.1 (x64) Update 1

To reproduce:
1. Open for example XBMC in windowed mode
2. Set audio output to wasapi
3. Put your PC to sleep (hybrid sleep off)
4. Resume
5. BSOD will appear

Is it only me? If not is there any chance for a fix in the next release?

I also use Win7 64-bit, and have frequent BSODs when resuming from sleep or hibernation, and occasionally when shutting down my PC as well. Any ideas on how to solve this? It's the same driver_irql_not_less_or_equal error as above.

Those of you who have this problem on Win 7, which driver versions have you tried? I suggest you try something like 1.64 as well and see if the blue screens still occur and report back. If you have GX enabled, turn it off.
Personally, I didn't had any BSODs so far with any of the drivers on Win 7.

Which panel & configuration are you running (Normal, Low DPC, etc.)? Is GX turned ON?
If it's a driver problem, this will have to be fixed by C-Media. It will take them some time, don't know how long. There is also a chance it could be a problem with Windows and that could be fixed with future Windows updates.

Hello,

I noticed that when using the Cmedia panel, there's no gain tuning/ amplifier setting like in the standard Asus program. Why is this?

Curious as to what your thoughts on headphone settings are. I seem to get more brightness and punch from a 2 speaker setting, than headphones.

Hi.
That's the way C-Media made it.
Don't have any thoughts on speakers vs headphones setting. Don't see a reason one sounding different from the other. From my perspective, each settings has it set of options, and it's perfectly fine to use 2 speakers if you don't need to enable any headphone specific option.

Those drivers are not 100% compatible with the rest of the cards. So new UNi xonar drivers based on the STX II drivers seem unlikely atm, but I'm still looking for solutions.

I was curious about this too. From my own perspective STX II doesn't shows any dramatic hardware differences over STX but drivers can be much different.

Yeah you are right, there isn't a dramatic hardware difference. STX II uses the same audio chip like the rest of the Xonar cards excepting Phoebus cards. And the drivers are almost the same but apparently with some twists (see my comment below).

And you know this how? It's easy to give a quick look and say that they can be modded and that the only thing that's changed is the skin.
From my experience modding the STX II drivers I have encountered the following issues so far: C-media panel does not work, XonarSwitch does not work and the drivers are lacking a valid signature for any other Xonar card except the STX II.

Actually I was able to use C-media panel and Xonar ASIO after I installed driver through device manager (installer showed message "Don't suppor this platform" ) with modded inf where I only changed HWID (but didn't touch name or anything else). Looks like ASUS now makes similar tricks like Creative did with Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio which was really similar to SB Live! 24-bit but had different drivers/software.

Maybe, I don't know at this point. Depending if future drivers for the rest of the cards will work for STX II too. There is also the possibility to release a separate driver package only for STX II, which would contain only the UNi Xonar fixes but it won't include updated drivers ahead of the ASUS driver releases.
