CarvedInside :
It shouldn’t, don’t know why its not listed under Windows 7 as well.
Because as I have already discovered, ASUS does not have much love for Windows 7.
Mysticode14 Oct 2010 @ 04:46
Oh, forgot to ask. Will I benefit from using your unified driver after I do the firmware update?
CarvedInside14 Oct 2010 @ 23:26
Of course:). You get a more stable GX mode, and you get a newer driver which is supposed to work better & have less bugs in different applications or games then the older one. And there are also the Low DPC Lantecy & C-Media Panel version which address DPC latency.
Xavier15 Oct 2010 @ 00:23
A more stable GX mode? How can that be since GX isn't developed by C-Media but by ASUS?
And 5.1 upmixing is back for me after following your instructions. Will I miss any sound optimalisations etc. by using this hack of your hack? Are there any quality improvements or is that just placebo?
Kind regards,
Xavier.
CarvedInside17 Oct 2010 @ 18:33
The sound will be the same as with original drivers from Asus. But as 2 channels compared to 5.1 stereo upmix, 2 channels will always sound better on stereo sources.
As for quality improvements between the drivers I don't know what to say.
Mysticode15 Oct 2010 @ 00:33
A more stable GX mode will be so lovely if it works.
Also, my DPC latency is pretty bad, hitting the yellow zone pretty often. Is this a result of the bad drivers for Windows 7?
CarvedInside15 Oct 2010 @ 11:09
Most likely yes.
Mysticode15 Oct 2010 @ 06:15
So I downloaded your all in one pack, and I am not quite sure what to install. I ran the setup from the "low DPC Latency" folder, I hope this was the right thing to install.
Interesting, now when I open up Ventrilo, the following error comes up:
“Unable to activate DirectSound for selected device.
DirectSoundCaptureCreate failed. HR=DSERR_NODRIVER. No sound driver is available for use”
CarvedInside15 Oct 2010 @ 10:57
You need to go to Ventrilo Settings/Audio and check for somthing like Output Audio device, and there select the Xonar card.
Mysticode17 Oct 2010 @ 09:18
Sigh, I was so hopeful, but I just returned to my computer and sure enough the right channel is far far quieter than the right. I have no idea what is causing this, but it is indeed highly discussed on the ASUS support forums, albeit without a solution. The only fix is to reboot the computer, argh!
rankena17 Oct 2010 @ 13:08
New drivers!!! ftp://ftp.asus.com.tw/PUB/ASUS/Audio_Card/Xonar_DG/
CarvedInside17 Oct 2010 @ 18:31
Thanks for the heads up. I noticed myself yesterday. If all goes well, the new drivers based on them will probably be ready Thursday or Wednesday.
rankena17 Oct 2010 @ 20:34
Can't wait,want test! 🙂
Mysticode18 Oct 2010 @ 00:34
After I installed your driver Carved, how do I know if the audio card is using your drivers instead of ASUS's craptastic drivers?
I've since gone back to using my onboard audio of my ASUS motherboard, ironic I know, but at least the right channel doesn't fade out randomly (albeit though the electronic static sounds are annoying as hell)
CarvedInside19 Oct 2010 @ 15:36
You can check Device Manger, and there double click on Sound, video....-> Asus Xonar and go to Driver tab, and there is the driver version which sould end with 1788.
You should try your card on another PC, see if the right channel fade out problem is still there. As I stated before your card may be defective.:(
Vaughn19 Oct 2010 @ 09:25
Thanks for the rear-speaker delay fix! I was getting horrible reverb in MOH on my Roccat Kaves + Xonar D2X and it's gone now.
CarvedInside19 Oct 2010 @ 15:37
Glad to hear that its working.:)
adm19 Oct 2010 @ 14:35
I feel so lucky to have found this--and just a few days before new drivers!!
I'll wait for the new ones before I give your work a spin, CarvedIns, but I just felt the need to say thank you in advance. My Xonar D1 has given me endless crap to troubleshoot and it looks like this is just what I needed all along...you're a hero.

New drivers from ASUS? Where is this reported?
Later edit:
Oh, it’s for the DG. Sad face.
adm19 Oct 2010 @ 23:02
Yeah :/
But hopefully they'll help make the unified drivers better and it won't matter 🙂
rankena20 Oct 2010 @ 09:41
YES,and maybe today we see 1792!
CarvedInside20 Oct 2010 @ 19:09
Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to release it today. I hope it will be ready by tomorrow.
Ars9221 Oct 2010 @ 03:17
as long as the driver you're working like a charm (which it obviously will)we dont mind waiting!
ars9221 Oct 2010 @ 13:11
downloading right now!hopefully i am able to use the c media version now(the old one didnt work)on win7 32 bit with xonar DX
ars9221 Oct 2010 @ 13:30
ok,that"s weird.I ran 4.CmediaPanelGX on and then 5.Asio 1.0 preapply Win7,and then setup, reatarted, but then I am still having the normal asus audio center in my taskbar.Any ideas?
CarvedInside21 Oct 2010 @ 14:05
I rechecked and it shows the C-Media Panel. Maybe you missed something. Check the FAQ page section 1 and try the first method, if it doesn't work try the second one.
