I wonder if the asio is really used (with foobar), since the last driver.
Before it (and before using a xonar, like with the auzentech asio driver, or asio4all driver), when I was using an output on asio, there was no other sound. Like, if I played a youtube video on background, I heard no sound from it.

Now, I hear my music + the youtube video. Any though? If asio is still used and I can hear other sound, it's wonderful, but afaik it's very unlikely ...

There are 2 types of ASIO, lest call them Bit-perfect (v2.0) and Normal (v1.0). With ASIO Bit-perfect you won't be able to hear any other sounds except those coming from the player thats using asio. With ASIO 1.0 you can hear other sounds as well, and its still ASIO. I think the sound with ASIO Bit-perfect it was supposed be a little better. But I & many others still prefer the ASIO 1.0.
So if you installed ASIO 1.0 Patch then its normal to hear music + youtube.:)

You can check the foobar options -> Playback->Output-> Device to see if you have set DirectSound or ASIO as output.

I see that beginning with version 2.60 they feature the Asus Sound cleaning. I previously used Driver Sweeper so it will be my pleasure to add it. Thanks for the heads up!

Installed the 1.20 driver on a Win7/64bit box with a D1 card in standard configuration and everything looks quite good. Sound is great on analog Logitech X-540 speakers.

Only problem that I'm facing is that DTSs tracks from DVDs are not decoded to my analog speaker system in Windows Media Player 12 and Windows Media Center. When I select Dolby Digital (DD) in the DVD sound options I get perfect 5.1 sound but with the DTS option I cannot hear anything. Unfortunately only a few music DVDs have DD and DTS audio tracks included. Is this a general problem for D1/DX cards to decode DTS sound? With my old XP System with an SB/Audigy 2 ZS card I never experienced any problems with DTS decoding.

Beside that I'm a happy camper with your drivers, thanks so much for your hard work!!! (Looks like that you set ASUS developers under pressure - they are now publishing the 1792 driver for all cards on the FTP server step by step, DX drivers are now finished for all OS ...;=)))

Don't know what to say, I didn't used DD or DTS before, and this could be really hard for me to point you in right direction if you haven't configured some thing. Does this happen to you with the original Asus drivers?
Some suggestions: 1. Look in the manual to see if you missed something, like switching something in the Xonar Control Panel. 2.Try the drivers with the C-Media Audio Panel.

I hope it does, but I think their incompetence won't let them do their work. Just read on a topic on Asus forums asking Tian when the D2X drivers will be release, and she finally answered after ~2 weeks that they will release it no later than the end of next week..
Now compare this to the 2-3 days it took me to the release the UNi xonar 1.20 drivers with all the additional fixes , customizations and testing.

Thanks for the comprehensive reply, CarvedIns!

I totally agree with you that the quality and flexibility of ASUS staff is way behind your engagement for providing quality drivers to the frustrated ASUS customers. Same procedure as Daniel K. for Creative products. An me stupid jumping into the ASUS boat hoping that Win7/64bit suppport will be much better with their product line.

Lessons learned so far: I finally patched the official 1792 DX driver to work with my D1 card by myself, applied your channel delay fix in the respective ini-File and these drivers work quite well in my system.

Still no DTS decoding by default but I managed to get this functionality to work using the external "AC3Filter" codec.

Honestly, I have no idea why a configuration nightmare is necessary to bring a trivial functionality like playing 5.1 sound from a standard DVD to work in a "multimedia capable OS" like Win7.

Reminds me of the new and breathtaking Win Phone 7 "features" like missing external memory card, missing multitasking and missing copy/paste. Better stick with your old Windows Mobile 6.5 phone!

Thanks again for all hard work

… forgot an important thing that might interest you: the stereo upmix issue seems to be solved in the official 1792 release! Stereo sound is not upmixed to 5.1 by default, this can be activated manually by selecting effects or the Dolby Prologic / Virtual Speaker functionality.

@CarvedIns. Hi, haven't tried these drivers yet but have been following this site since you launched. A question for you - Can you still pass through 5.1 truehd/dtsma over analog with these drivers? On hdav deluxe. cheers

I honestly don't have a clue, and I can't check this. Maybe someone with HDAV can answer to this question.
Whats holding you back from trying them?:)

Is the original C-Media control panel superior to the Xonar control panel? Anyone in here have any opinions on it?

    Hi
It will be possible in the future a release of a 32 bit driver version?
I would try it with my cMP2 transport but the cplay player doesn't work with 24 bit release.

I don't really understand your question and what are you saying. Are you referring to ASIO 32 bit output or the that the Cplay player has option of outputting sound in 32 bit?

@CarvedIn. Hi, I done some testing with your driver. Blu-Ray audio over analog does not work. it detects at correct bit rate but no sound. I am using win7 64bit with your driver and hdav bat. works fine for dts and dolby core audio. PRobably the PAP.. can you fix this one?

I forgot to mention that was using TMT3. I have now tested this with MPC-HC w/ 64bit FFDSHOW Filter and it passes through the audio at full resolution no problems.. do you think you can see what code Asus is using to get a Protected Audio Path?

I must say this I don't know what to say. I don't know much about how HDAV cards suppose to work and what stuff like Protected Audio Path is.

The one thing I can do for now, is modify the driver with some old files from HDAV drivers and send them to see if then it works like it suppose to.

I've made a small Inno Setup script for creating an installation program (instead of using a 7z file).

You can download it here : http://downloads.cracrayol.org/UNi_Xonar_setup.is...

You need to put it in the "UNi Xonar 1792 v1.20" folder (where you have the XP/VISTA/WIN7 folders), and launch the compile with InnoSetup (http://www.jrsoftware.org/isdl.php)

    Hey Ho.
    I have got a Asus Xonar U1 USB-Soundcard.

Will there be a support for this soundcard in the next releases?

U1 drivers are a different from the other Xonar drivers. If I have the time I will try once again to mod them and I will send you a test version on your email. But I can't promise you anything.

Installed on windows xp32 with Low latency, Cmediapanel and Asio, using with Sennheiser HD555 headphones. I can tell there is an obvious improvement in sound quality even without messing with dsp eq settings.

    Thank you CarvedInside.

Once again, thank you for your service. But unfortunately,as on your previous releases, uncompressed audio files (analogue multichannel PCM, Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD) from blu-ray disks are not working on Xonar HDAV. Would you mind to take a look at this issue with your next release. I am using Windows 7 (32 bits) , with Total Media.
