@CarvedInside
The audio panel is stored in WindowsSystem32CmiCnfgP.dll, CmiCnfgP.cpl launch it using "rundll32 CmiCnfgP.dll,CMICtrlWnd"
CarvedInside18 Dec 2010 @ 21:06
Yes you are right:)
I wanted to point him to the "shortcut".
The commands you posted are also a way to go.
Virus18 Dec 2010 @ 20:02
So command lines to run CMI Panel are:
[os_disk]:WindowsSystem32rundll32.exe C:WindowsSystem32CmiCnfgp.dll,CMICtrlWnd
or for x64 system
[os_disk]:WindowsSysWOW64rundll32.exe C:WindowsSystem32CmiCnfgp.dll,CMICtrlWnd

Does anybody have any problems with the latest Windows Update?
KB2443685, which has something to do with date/time in 2011, is messing up my UNI drivers. It took me half a day to figure out where the problem was coming from, but after installing that particular update I always get a rundll32 error when trying to open the config panel (C-media one). The pc always shuts down slower, waiting for Task Host Window to finish...

All ASIO implementation should work on driver level, so Windows volume control should not work. Programs like foobar2000 uses it own software volume control, so it should work.
Daniel18 Dec 2010 @ 21:42
The problem is, that I'm using Ableton for music production, and there isn't any way for "volume adjustment" 🙂 Anyway, I've installed asio4all and it seems to work fine 🙂 Thanks for help 😉

Hi
Just installed as I was having trouble with the Xonar DG drivers where I would hear an echo/reverb while listening to 5.1
I installed the 1.26 version on Win 7 x64 but after restart I get no sound from my speakers. I can open the control panel etc fine and the drivers say they are working fine but I only get the faintest sound come through when I use windows to test the 5.1. The centre speaker comes out of my right speaker and my rear left comes out my right. They are both very very quiet too and none of the others work. I used the dseo software to enable the driver and like I said it seems to think its fine but is there anything I couldve done wrong during installation? any help would be appreciated and thanks so much for doing Asus' Job for them
Forgot to ask, which options should I select when installing?
Goose
CarvedInside19 Dec 2010 @ 12:20
Try do to a uninstall followed by a driver clean with Driver Sweeper and then install again. See if this help. Also check the cables to see if they are properly connected.
For starters & to see if its working you should go on with the selected normal version.
Goose19 Dec 2010 @ 17:47
I uninstalled and selected the options without the c-media control panel or ASIO patch and it works fine, not sure which one was causing the problem, maybe because I only signed the file in the drivers folder? anyway I may try again with the control panel but it fixed the out of sync problems I had so atm its not important.
You are an absolute legend for doing this, thanks so much and keep up the good work.

Already found a solution on my post from December 9, 2010 at 10:15??
Thanks,

Never mind. I just read your e-mail.

Hi, the installer doesn't .. install at all on my computer. I check the C-Media (GX enabled) with ASIO 1.0 patch & stereo upmix, reboot and .. nothing.
The card is still not installed, the program doesn't seems either, I have no idead why.
I'm on Seven 64bits, and I tried to launch the installer with and without DEOSP, with and without right clic > run as admin
BTW I own a Xonar DX
foudelou21 Dec 2010 @ 18:44
The 1.20 doesn't seems to work either .. still with C-Media GX enabled.
I tried 1.26 with only C-media and it worked, just for your info. I have absolutely no idea why it doesn't work for GX (and must be working for other people I guess). Anyway it's too bad cause I was testing RMAA with many configs and I wanted to compare Asus's drivers to yours :/
CarvedInside21 Dec 2010 @ 21:53
Will try later with C-Media GX enabled to see if its a there is a problem. Regarding some RMAA tests I will sending you a e-mail.

GX is a big f*** mistake, do not use it. EAX emulated effect above 2 are buggy. Also GX itself crashes many games because of stupid programed hooking method, it NOT EMULATE anything, only force app to use eax effect even if its creation falls ...
seekdestroy21 Dec 2010 @ 21:40
Virus, I'm on windows 7 64bit, and cant get the FP switcher to work, i close everything down, run fpoff.exe it does its business, but still no sound :S
CarvedInside21 Dec 2010 @ 21:50
with fpoff.exe you "uncheck" it. try with fphp.exe
seekdestroy21 Dec 2010 @ 21:54
I'm running my headphones from the normal (back panel) sockets. I've got xonar xense.
When running any of the files, I don't hear the usual click/tick when changing. Don't know why it's not working. I've been running as administrator too.
CarvedInside21 Dec 2010 @ 23:39
But have you tried connecting your headphones to the front panel? Cause sometimes it doesn't click.

Sorry but about that I have some questions .. I don't find many infos on GX.
My questions are : Does it affect only EAX 5.0 ? (meaning EAX 2.0 and below are still used (and replace 5.0) if GX is deactivated)
Is GX version hardware or software dependant ? I mean according to the Asus website the Xonar DX is supposed to be GX 2.0 and the DS ("lower budget" card) is 2.5, so is it just updated by drivers (which would mean GX version is not dependant of the soundcard but every xonar cards would have access to the latest GX version) or is the technology implemented in the hardware component ?
Another thing .. When I check my drivers version (I'm in 7.12.8.1792 official drivers, the latest) I see GX version : 1.0.10.917 so .. I'm not in GX 2.0 ? 😮
And a last question .. Where can we find changelogs between GX versions ?
Thanks and sorry for the long post about one "little" feature but I like to know what I use 😀
Marc Bourgoin21 Dec 2010 @ 22:11
Heyyo, The GX is mainly yes EAX 5.0 and hardware accelerated sound and surround sound on older games that do not use Xaudio. Examples of games that benefit from GX are FEAR, Halo1PC, Source Engine, GoldSrc Engine (HL1), Vampire The Masquerade Redemtion and most importantly Battlefield 2. GX is a damn great feature and the main reason I bought my Asus Xonar DX.. but it's unstable as all hell... makes me regret selling my Soundblaster X-FI cause that one didn't crash and loop sound in my soundcard. 🙁
The changelog is on the asus download website, each version tells ya what they change.
CarvedInside21 Dec 2010 @ 23:50
GX is software dependent. So all cards should have 2.5 version with the latest drivers, in this case 2.5 its more like the version of the technology. Yes it is GX 2.0(5) , but that is the version of specific GX files , like with asio, which is 2.01.
You can't find the changelogs for GX versions, usually the changelog of the drivers also includes GX changes, but Asus/C-Media doesn't bother to much with documenting the changes.
Just tried and C-Media GX and it works, the problem is most likely on your side, try with the new version 1.27 and do a driver clean with Driver Sweeper.
foudelou21 Dec 2010 @ 22:50
I'll try to be clearer .. is any model card able to handle the last GX version (2.5) or is the GX version related to the soundcard (for instance GX 2.0 only for xonar DX, 2.5 for xonar DS and Essence STX ...) ? How can we see what version we currently have if any card can handle the last GX version ?
And more importantly, is EAX 1.0 and 2.0 related to DS3D GX or does DS3D GX handle only the simulated EAX 5.0 ? (ie : can we enjoy EAX 2.0 if GX is deactivated ?)
AND in complement : Does EAX 2.0 replace (automaticaly or not) 5.0 if 5.0 isn't available ?
So the main question here is, is it possible to enjoy a -even primitive- EAX effect if GX is deactivated ?
CarvedInside21 Dec 2010 @ 23:55
I understand your question, but I for one don't know. 🙁
Marc Bourgoin22 Dec 2010 @ 02:07
Heyyo,
The only real way to see what version of GX you are running is with the latest official Asus driver and clicking the "I" button for info. ALL GX versions runs on any Asus soundcard (sometimes also known as Xear apparently). Originally GX 2.0 was when I jumped in with Vista 64bit and didn't support X-Fi quality, but a while later GX 2.5 came out and that added it in BF2 and stuff.
for EAX 1.0 and 2.0? I think they still run without GX but I could be mistaken.. GX enabled puts on the full EAX experience in hardware acceleration.
foudelou22 Dec 2010 @ 02:54
Thanks for the answers ! After a few more research it would seems that EAX2.0 could be indeed used without GX BUT only on XP ; On vista and seven the cpu handle the hardware acceleration process so no EAX at all except with the use of programs that bypass it (Alchemy and GX then).
Thanks for clarifying this complex subject 😀
Anyway I'll try your 1.27 tomorrow, good job btw, it's always nice to see there are people who care to help others

Hare are X- Meridian 2G drivers: http://www.auzensupport.com/data/AZT-MERIDIAN2G_V...
CarvedInside22 Dec 2010 @ 12:47
Thank you. Man you are quick. I too noticed them early this morning. Sadly they are based on c-media 1791 (august dated). Didn't installed them yet, but from what I could see, the c-media panel which is used as default, is exactly the one we have, with the exact missing options . 😐
This is outrageous for a card thats launched in 2010 and costs 150$ but lacks some basic driver functions like Front Panel output switch or Sample rate switcher.
