It doesn't work in stereo sounds(mp3s) or in 5.1 sounds?
It works with the original drivers? Also what audio card and OS do you have?

I've just installed this version and i still can't get ASIO driver working. I've installed the C-Media flavour and i have a lot of problems using ASIO and WASAPI with apps like cubase or sonar 8.5

Make sure you reconfigure ASIO output device for each program. ASIO from Uni Xonar drivers has a different name, so thats why it doesn't work where it previously worked.

Hello, i’ve installed the latest version with the C-Media panel for my Xonar D1, it seems to work fine but EAX or Dolby buttons has no hearable effect o.o and i’ve tryed the Front Panel switcher(v3) made by Virus, it dosn’t work at all.

    Later edit:
Nvm Dolby Virtual Speaker works, the "EX Xear 3d" don't, i suppose its the GX.
Good work on those drivers anyway.

      Hello
For GX have you tried installing Cmedia GX version?

Can you try changing speakers/hp to front panel using Xonar Control Panel (normal installation) and see if its working?

Hello,I have a Xonar Essence ST: What is the front panel switch? is for use with the card H6?

Another question: I installed the version “C-Media GX” but after booting the PC “Xear 3D” did not start. How to manually restart the application?
Is there a command line ?

Hello, front panel switcher is used if you have headphones/speakers connectors in front the case. Thats probably not how H6 cards are connected to the Xonar ST.

What you mean by Xear 3d did not start? Some useful information you can find here. But with C-Media GX version , GX should work out of the box.

Have you tried a uninstall , use driver sweeper to clean the remaining files(Asus soundcard) and install again?
Also tell me what OS you have?

I use Windows 7 64 bit and yes every time I install a version of your drivers I'm using driver sweeper after uninstalling the previous version.
But that's okay by rebooting the PC: it works.
Windows is very mysterious sometimes ...;)

I'm not sure to understand how this drivers works. I've installed the c-media flavor, but EX Xear 3D does not seems to work, i don't get any 5.1 sounds. is this simmilar to GX mode in asus driver? When do i need to enable this? also, what's the difference between c-media and c-media GX enabled driver? what should i install? I'm also trying to use the ASIO driver in cubase but it's very buggy, i've tried the asus driver and also c-media driver but result is the same... can anyone share experiences here on using ASIO driver in cubase or another simmilar software?

Xear 3D is only for EAX effects, you do not need to enable this for 5.1/7.1 etc.
For ASIO use 1.0 or ASIO4ALL, ASIO 2.0 has many bugs (like sound stutter) etc.

C-Media drivers are old WDM drivers, for Vista/W7 are very poor. Best for new system is UAA architecture but Xonar is not HD class card ... If i will buy a next sound card it will be X-Fi Titanium (or newer) because UAA arch.

Also for all people here, GX/Xear 3D is poor ! do not use it, it will crash many applications, or sound will be broken. Best software implementation of EAX5 is X-Fi MB2 (Creative Alchemy and special OpenAL) but is not free and only for OEMs (see ASUS SupremeFX2 or Gigabyte QuantumWave - both use Realtek integrated cards, EAX effect are software).

      Heyyo,

Yeah I agree we got pwned on the whole Direct3DSound portion of this soundcard.. unstable sack of crap. 🙁

Creative Alchemy? bro that's free on X-Fi soundcards.. others such as Audigy series I know they used to have to pay I dunno if they still do...

As much as my old X-Fi used to drive me nuts? I'd damn well prefer a Creative card now cause I bet they at least fixed the kinks I had (crackling sound on Vista 64bit or XP Pro x64 edition with more than 4GB of RAM).

Hi, if ASIO 2.0 has many bugs... there is no way to have it fixed? I need to use ASIO for music software, like Cubase. In fact, i've bough this card to use it with ASIO. Also i've tried to use WASAPI in some programs but also it doesn't works, why? GX works fine with games that uses OpenAL, but i don't enable GX allways, only when i play games that need it. Also, you say about X-Fi MB2 software, and that it's not free... where can i get that software? does it works with Xonar?

      Thanks,

      Hi again,

Mass Effect 2, for example, uses OpenAL and you need to enable GX to get 5.1 sound. I've tried it with GX disabled and i only get stereo sound.

Also, about Creative ALchemy i've downloaded the universal version, that seems to work with non creative audio cards like the Xonar, but i can't get it working on ME2.

My problem now is that i get choppy sound when using the optical out, i happens with or without GX enabled and with stereo and 5.1 sound. Does anyone have a solution for this issue??

Thank you very very much. Thease drivers have completely solved my ASIO playback problems which I had when using mediaportal on a PC with a Xonar HDAV Deluxe. Just like you said: uninstall xonar drivers, sweep the system clean with driversweeper, install the Uni drivers and you're good to go.
    Again: thanks a lot!

    @Alexa
That is X-Fi MB1 not MB2, MB2 uses THX panel and THX APO.

I can not only mod drivers for itegrated HDA codecs but also run Alchemy and OpenAL (ie. enable EAX5) on Xonar or any other PCI card (also AC97) but only in Vista/W7 ... This is a hack/crack thing so for now I will not release it to public, maybe never release it ...

I'm trying now the standard installation (not c-media flavour) and i'm having problems with Mass Effect 2. Dialogs on center speaker doesn't work... can anyone confirm this? (ME2 uses OpenAL and i have GX enabled)

If I think about it, you don't need for GX to be enabled if the game uses OpenAL. Have you tried with GX disabled?
Does the center speaker work in the speaker test?

I am ecstatic right now. If I could wash your feet....

I've been so amazed thats such a perfect piece of hardware can go for so long with utterly broken drivers. I know I will not buy another Asus product in the future. But at least I can get what I paid for years ago...finally.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You aught to be paid for this. If Asus has any hope of winning me back, they will do just that.

    I'm using a Xonar DG.

When I went to install these drivers, there are several options: "Normal", "Low Latency", "C-Media" and "C-Media GX".

Well, at the bottom there is another option called "ASIO 1.0"

Can someone tell me exactly what "ASIO 1.0" is and whether or not I should install it?

Yes it works for all releases including 1.27 . The link is on this page at the bottom where other download links are. Type ASIO Patch in search.
Still you can install it when running setup.

did they every get auto sample rate working on these cards? like will they do it with wasapi? and what sample rates am i supposed to use in windows/xonar panel

    • CarvedInside14 Jan 2011 @ 00:00

They (Asus) didn't got auto sample rate working. It was supposed to work for ASIO 2.0 but from my experience it doesn't work.

I suggest sticking with 44.1 KHz if you don't have music files higher than this (which are very rare).
