First of all, have you tried driver cleaning with the latest Driver Sweeper (2.9.0) after you’ve uninstalled the previous drivers?
Secondly, maybe some of your settings are wrong and thats why asio is lagging or cracks. Set lantency to 20-30 ms (or more) and output to 24 bit.
When you install the ASIO 1.0 Patch you might need to remove ASIO virtual devices from FOOBAR and re add them.
It seems like the drive signature errors are from the remaining files of the previous drivers, so by using driver sweeper this shouldn’t be a problem.
Not sure what you are saying here but, using default asio (without asio patch), Asio output will be sound exclusive.
I don’t know you should check ASIO4ALL too if you have problems.

Yes i tryed with DriverSwipper and clean everything from Asus Audio. But still unsucessfull install after except c-media panel. With Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider i sign .sys file and i make windows boot in Test mode, otherwise will not loaded. Same is when i load windows with disable enforcment signature during boot pressing F8.

Thanks for ASIO tips i will gonna try.

With driver cleaning & stuff but without installing ASIO 1.0 Patch, do the drivers load without the Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider?

I have no idea, but there where some guys that previously used it and maybe they can help us out. The thing is that C-media & Asus decided to remove the option from their Audio Panels. Maybe its been removed from the driver code as well, and this is why it doesnt make any difference.

Panorama effects usually cause the sound to "wrap" around to the surround speakers, creating a larger and/or more immersive stereo stage. A lot of Dolby ProLogic II Music decoders have a similar effect when decoding in music mode.

Any possibility of adding functionality of the headphone amp (ie changing ohm impedance value) that is on the DG? Maybe i didn't see it or something...

Thx for a much improved driver for this card! CHEERS

Your card is Xonar DG, or you are wondering if there is a way to enable headphone amps (like from DG) on other cards?
If you are referring to a headhpone amp setting in C-Media Audio Center that the answer is no, but you can switch to Asus Audio Center and change it from there.

No, only c-media panel is installed normally without asio. Other Low DPC, Normal or C-media with GX, with or without asio can't be installed without Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider. Of course i use driver swipper between each installation.

btw can you also tell me how to upmix 2.0 to 5.1 when using ASIO?

    Hi everyone.

Today I finally bought the Xonar Essence. I can't get any sound. Foobar and the ASUS tray show that music is playing. I used the ASUS drivers from the ASUS site. Checked both the phones and the speakers. The card is listed as a device. The molex is plugged in. And the line in plugged into the line-in with the large adapter jack

However when I removed the onboard realtek drivers I also removed the "Realtek multimedia audio controller" It doesn't show up as missing in the device manager
but I wonder if I might have a the drivers installed correctly without a audio controller installed.

Also my first attempt at installing drivers was with the UNI's but when it didn't work I went ASUS. But I could find no way to find the UNI drivers in order to uninstall them. I did a system restore so, quite likely, they are not on my system anymore.

I have a funny feeling I am missing something really obvious or the card is defective.

    Thanks in advance

2.1 speaker set up and a pair of Audio Technica M50's, Win 7 64. Gigabyte board.

      Some ideas:
I suppose you tried playing something with another player than Foobar. Just make sure that you have selected Asus Xonar STX as output device in foobar or any other player.
Be sure to recheck the manual maybe you've missed something and a good way to test is to plug your card in another PC.
If none of these help and card still doesn't work, this most likely means card is defective.

ive noticed a very subtle change in the sound that comes out of the surround speakers... very subtle change in quality... i think it changes how PLIIx filters the channels out ever so slightly allowing a bit more out the surround speakers, but i could just be on drugs and maybe im hearing some placebo effect, who knows

    Hi:-)

If I disable Cmaudio8788 in msconfig, but I left HsMgr enable.
Can I still enjoy Xear 3D and GX 2.5?

Moreover, I found that there is no difference when I enable 7.1 virtual speaker.
    I am using 2.1 speaker.

    thz;-)

Yes, Xear3D and GX2.5 will still work.

Regarding 7.1 Virtual speaker you need to change the settings, like moving the speakers in the diagram or clicking the additional buttons above it.

This driver does not seem to work for the PCI version of the Asus Xonar Essence ST. It does work for the Asus Xonar Essence STX (which is the PCIe version of the same card)

You have to be doing something wrong, my PCI ST worked perfect with all version of this driver, on XP and 7 x64...

No idea what went wrong the first time I tried it on the machine with the PCI card... It just installed without a hitch... I love the lower DPC latency with this!

    My current setup:

Windows 7 Home Premium (No group policy editor)
    Xonar DG

I used the latest Asus drivers for awhile and then one day (approx 2 months ago) they just stopped working. I found out that Windows was disabling it since they weren't digitally signed.

So I stumbled upon this site, installed the latest version (after uninstalling Asus drivers and running Driver Sweeper 2.9.0) and had the exact same issue. The only way I can get sound is if I sit like a monkey spamming F8 when my computer starts up.

Please fix this issue, as I currently have no other solution to F8'ing my way through startup.

The drivers for Asus Xonar where always not digitally signed. The strange part is that this type of error appears only to some . I don't get this even with Win7 with SP1.
Just launched a new version of the drivers (1.31) , maybe this will work for you.

I really tried all I can think of to try to fix this issue.

@Jordan Ledbetter, only way is to use Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider (DSEO) http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=dseo (that help me), small application which you need to sign cmudaxp.sys in your windows/system32/drivers folder, as test driver, and you need to check in DSEO to run windows in "test" mode to allow test drivers to run. Some watermark will apear on you right corrner but you can disable it with DSEO too.

    Carved,

I've recently started having dropout issues with my Xonar D2X (starting today actually.) Using v1.30 CMedia Panel version on Windows 7 x64 SP1 Professional. I've never had these issues before with any of your drivers including v1.30. But today I'm having this issue of dropouts ranging anywhere from 1 sec to 10 sec long. Could it be a hardware issue? I'm gonna wipe the drivers out and install v1.30 low latency, and report back. Thanks.

    Yours,
    Jayakiran

Also, the DPC latency was pretty normal ~ 90 us; I think it's problem with my speaker cable, my Senn headphones are working just fine, I think. Sorry to be a bother.

The strange thing is that only some have this issue. It has been driving me nuts, trying to fix this, especially I didn't had it and I couldn't reproduce it myself.

@shon3i, I;m not sure the drivers will work within a virtual machine, and also the always appear unsigned but they work for most.
BTW check this new version 1.31

Yes they are work in Virtual machine on same way as normal, and behavior is same. I don't know that you maybe heard but microsoft disabled all unsigned drivers to be started, they are normally install but won't be started with windows, btw did you use Service Pack 1, because driver maybe normally work on SP0 machines. In other hand my Windows is pure OEM, maybe is there some different in installing drivers etc.

Btw i installed Low Latency, with upmix feature enabled and ASIO patch and i get sound from all five speakers and not from woofer when i watch youtube. What exactly i want to make sound coming from all speakers equaly and woofer too.

I don't like DPL or oher post filters how to sound, i just want pure sound.

I did the trick in foobar and ASIO how to manage to get sound from all speakers equally. Here is http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/2403/unledwj.p...

I aslo notice that ASIO is much louder? is that normal?

I am gonna try 1.31 right now. Thank you so much 🙂

Thats and interesting idea with Windows being OEM. I Think I will create a online sheet to collect information from those of you who are having problem installing, maybe this will help point what could be at fault.

That doesn't make any sense, as to why you can't hear sounds coming from the subwoofer. What sound system do you have, and how is it connected to the sound card?
Asio being lounder then .. what? Then normal DirectSound , then yes.
