Nevermind - I still get audio loop when programs crash and IWD2 also freezes still; am I the only one who has audio looping when most programs crash?

Sorry to hear this. Try uninstalling, use driver sweeper to clean the remaining files, use ccleaner registry fix, and install the Low DPC lantecy version of the driver or the C-Media one.

About 5.1 stereo upmix, don't think its the case anymore with win7, and now only win Xp is affected. The thing is/was, that selecting 5.1 speakers would had caused to all stereo sounds to be upmixed to 5.1 .
All asus drivers are affected by this and the speakers delay regardless of the output settings (analogue or SPDIF DD..).
If you use my drivers, then you don't have to change anything.

Hi.. Does anyone know is there is a known ASIO conflict with Asus Xonar DS PCI and SandyBridge mainboards? Ever since I switched to MSI P67A-GD65 B3 (sandybridge) Im having ASIO playback freeze with a sound loop problem. I have to stop and resume playback and it goes away. What is to blame? Maybe the PCI slots, since they are no more based on Intel chipset?

Also Im having problems installing your latest driver. It stops and sits at the dos window probably trying to clean up old drivers. I dont know if adding old driver cleanup was a good idea.

I don't know of such conflict but it might have something to do with the PCI slots. Some suggestions : make sure you have the latest bios update installed and all the latest motherboard drivers installed. You can also look for a firmware update for the PCI slots chipset if there is any.

The driver installation didn't get stuck because of driver cleaning. Its because of the actual driver couldn't be installed, uncheck silent installation and see what error you get. Might want to test the 2 test builds.

Thanks for your reply. I think there must be a new bug with new intel mainboards and xonar. I've seen lots of complaints on xonar asio lately. Everything worked fine on my previous P45 setup. Not the only problem I have/had on Sandybridge. Should have skiped this chipset. Hope Asus releases some new drivers soon. 😀

i'm on sandybridge and also get these jams with asio, although i thought it was the drivers being shit in general. i have to close the host program (renoise) and restart it when i happens.

    i got a nasty bug:
everytime my windows 7 installation plays a system sound, i got a "plop" (sounds like one, nearly 20db louder than my system volume). im using the standard uni drivers with the c-media panel on an 6 box system.

    nasty bug number 2:
sometimes the "plop" will drop the soundvolume on my front-right speaker about ~ 18db. a restart fixes that.

Thats not normal. Havent heard anyone having something like this.
What xonar card do you have?

      Things you should try :
      1) Update windows & all its other drivers
      2) Try reinstalling the driver, use ccleaner registry clean & driver sweeper in between
      3) Try the older drivers version (v1.11 and 1.26)

This is with Normal installation or with C-Media Panel?
What do you mean by "Front panel Headphone output is loss"?

Using dseo13b is not a problem.

Hello. I have a simple question. Is it possible to play 5.1 (upmix from mp3) with ASIO on Windows 7 x64. When playing stereo with foobar2000 with ASIO:
    - mixer don't work (it works, but can't control the sound)
    - only the front left/right speakers are working - my major issue
    - no other sound in the computer can be heard

So is it a private case, or it's not possible to play 5.1 upmix with ASIO ?
I need to know whether to keep trying or not ? 10x.

      Short answer, no.
The only thing you can do is to activate a DSP plugin in foobar, like stereo to 4 channel and see if it works.

The other so called issues are typical for ASIO 2.0.x .

Normal installation and C-Media Panel are the same result ..

my fd also get the same problem about of has no analog output

after install the Driver . I can hear few second sounds by checked the volume control ..after then …no anymore

I have a funny question . I tried to install and uninstall that driver many times. The Xonar DG interface look like the original driver’s interface atm ,the 192Khz sample selection and dolby digital live…etc setting are lose …however I can find the 192khz setting in windows7 Volume setting pannel …..may I know what the happening ?

well ………..I found that problem about of XONAR DG
ASIO Patch 1.0 is not work for Xonar DG …..
not it’s working …however, will you improve it ?

I really want that DDL function …when I tick the asio patch . no analog singal, when I untick the asio patch , no DDL function

          Unfortunetly I can't improve ASIO Patch 1.0 .

Have you tried installing an older driver version? Try and check with v1.26 and v1.11 .

192 KHz sample rate isnt supported for your card (hardware wise). You see it in the original bug in the Asus control panel because of a bug.

PS: Please try to write your problems in one comment or so.

Thank you for the fast answer. 🙂 It's bad, because X-Fi XtremeMusic I had before, plays 5.1 upmix with ASIO, and let's the others sounds play too. May be it is a false ASIO in Creative cards or I don't know what to think ...
I'll play without ASIO in that case, it's not very important to me to have very small latency.
    10x.

P.S. I'll try with the plug-in too. Thanks.

    Great drivers!

Would it be possible to enable dolby headphone on the speaker outs? I and many others use the speaker outs for an external high-end headphone amp. 🙂

A problem I often have with this card is the dialog in games being far too quiet. I have to turn it way up while turning the music and fx way down. I was playing No One Lives Forever 2 today, and it wasn't even in stereo. Seemed like all of the sound was coming out of the center channel. Tried tuning on GX but that just crashed the game.

If you are using 5.1 output this behavior might be typical for the game. I remember when I had a 5.1 sound system, voice/dialog was sometimes to quiet in movies in games.
Maybe a workaround to this would be to increase center speaker volume.

Try checking this problem with your onboard audio card and see if its still the same.

Also have you enabled DB virtual speaker or DB Pro logic II?If so try with them off .

Hi. Help me please. I think i have got a problem with my xonar dx. Beacouse when i am playing cod4 the best settings for this game and all game is with all settings OFF. Just 2channels and headphones thats all i got. And then the location of sound (left, right etc...) in cod4 is pretty good but still not ok. With dolby - ON, 7.1 virtual - ON, dolby prologic II - ON the location of sound is zero ... :/ Why? I have the newest uni drivers.

eh ok ... I set on DolbyHeadphone but sound isnt still hmm ... i dont know how to say it clearly ... But i tested this sound car with many ways and the best location of sounds is without any settings. Just 2channells and Headphone. Then i hear many things at once from left, right, front, back etc. But when i switched on DolbyHeadphone i hear just one side this wich is nearer. So tell me how can i set my xonar dx for games to hear all sides at the sime time and really clear and how can i set my xonar to hear "opponets" in game from really far way??

I don;t know exactly how to help you with this. I for one wouldn't use any audio effects as I don't think they can help with the sound position, only make it worse.

I suggest using the default settings in the audio panel and in the game (EQ: On, Sound Quality: High, Speaker: Stereo)

In my opinion in a game without EAX, it all depends on the game and not the sound card. See, if the sound positioning is bad, no sound card could make it better.

Ok. But you know its horrible thats so expensive (for me) sound car has so bad sound position. I am playing with a lot of difrent ppl and many of them hear much more than I – and they dont have a better sound car. Most of they play on realtek … :/ and this bring me a bad mood :/ … Is any way to improve this sound position? Maybe could you make some driver wich will be improve sound position? Unfortunately I have got second problem :/ from a few weeks my microphone is “crunching” when I talk on teamspeak or vent etc…

Maybe they have 5.1 headphones, in this care sound positioning will be much better. And even if they have 2.0 headphones, If you didn't hear personally how it sounds on their systems, it might not sound better then yours. Why dont you check how sound positioning is with your onboard sound card.

The problem you are having might not have anything to do with the soundcard or its drivers.

Don't know what you mean by you microphone "crunching",but you might have change some settings that could cause this, if it previously worked good before..

I see you dont belive me. I am honest with you. I talked with a lot of ppl with witch I play/played about this what they hear or not and I know how far they hear or not. Ofc some of them hear much less then I but some of them hear more than I. They play on 2.0 hp. I played on 5.1 (Aero 5.1) and sound on 5.1 is worst and position is worst too than on 2.0 hp (my present SteelSeries Siberia v2 jack).

Hmm i played on onboard sound card and there were any position sound - in my opionion. But maybe I am an alien hehe 😀 ... And becouse the sound on onbaord sound card is horrible for me in music, movie, game and position is horrible I decide buy Xonar DX. I bought this sound card and sound position is pretty good. Maybe more than good but I was expecting more from this sound card and beacouse of this I sad. As i said this sound card disappointed me :/.
