yeah the upmix from stereo to 5.1, dobly pro logic, seems like it works good as always.
and i think quality improved a bit, at least in SC2.
semtexxl29 Jun 2011 @ 16:54
Uh good news to see updated driver but after some testing I must say it is not working any better than older (1793) still annoying upmixing stereo signal to 5.1, no bass redirection on 96KHz or above.... š
Filipe29 Jun 2011 @ 18:44
My temp tests / results: upmix from analog and digital from 2 to 4/5.1 channels works fine, and dpc latency is around 220~290 (with Unified 1.31 + cm panel 102~180).
ASIO latency drops a lot from 10~15 to 60~70 (24bits@10ms) (unified 1.31 drops, but much less than and around 20~40).

I'll just wait a bit and hopefully Carved will make some uni drivers with these new ones from asus, i prefer the c-media cp now i've been using it for so long.
Chriscom30 Jun 2011 @ 05:59
to clarifiy with upmixing i mean that stereo sound would ever be upmixed to quad channel sound before with asus driver. But with the 1794 Stereosound is Stereosound for me.
Jay30 Jun 2011 @ 10:01
Gah, I had uninstall the 1794's and go back to the current uni build. The balance for voices in games for some reason seemed off, not to mention a slight almost reverb effect, and I left all settings standard. I went back and forth between the 1794 and the 1793 three times just to compare and see if it wasn't just some sort of placebo affect and I'm pretty sure I wasn't imagining the distortion. Weird. Xonar DS user in 7x64.
Chriscom01 Jul 2011 @ 03:20
When u mean especially the Voices in the Game Alice Madness Returns that was also in 1793 and seems to be a problem of the game. I have not such problems and no reverb @ Xonar D2X & WIN7 x64
Jay02 Jul 2011 @ 10:33
When I say voices I just mean what I'm hearing is most prominent there. I've tried the 1794s again and there's definitely a difference in quality there all around that I just can't really put my finger on. I like good sound but I couldn't be considered an audiophile so its hard to explain accurately. I used reverb to loosely explain it before, but listening to it again its almost like the treble's too high as well or something. That's really the best I can explain it though. Either way, be it the uni's or the official 1793, everything's fine there so I'll just stick with it, and try 1794's again if/when Carved gets around to making a new set.
bla.blub01 Jul 2011 @ 14:46
i didn´t experienced any problems on alice madness with 1.31(+ dolby) and win7 x64
Chriscom01 Jul 2011 @ 19:33
Yes that may be but i use analog output and how i said i think its a problem of the game and only happend 1% or 2% all the time of playin.
Con02 Jul 2011 @ 17:44
ASIO version is 2.0.0.7 in last Asus driver. A little bit of better sound for me... It`s work well so far...

Dear CarvedInside,
Could you please enable the SPDIF input (digital input) for Asus Xonar DX? It would be nice if you could add to the mixer the spdif input (which the top end Asus AV200 cards have).
Look at this picture: http://www.overclock3d.net/gfx/articles/2008/05/0...
At the bottom it is written SPDIF IN. On recently produced Xonar DX cards this label is not shown anymore, but the 3 pin connector is still there (The connector seems to be: +5V,no pin, SPDIF IN, Ground).
All other cards with AV100 seem to have this spdif in (for example in case of the Xonar Essence ST the J14 jumper seems to be the spdif in).
Even my old onboard ISA CMI8338 soundcard (more than 14 years old) had a SPDIF IN, so I was surprised to see that Asus has intentionally disabled in the drivers the spdif input for all cards using AV100.
I need to connect a satellite TV card spdif out to my Xonar as this has a better DAC.
Thanks for your excellent drivers.

Hi,
Thanks for the new set CI.
Everything seems OK, except get a Rundll32 host process stopped working when opening up and clicking on the Mixer Tab in the C-Media control panel. Crashes the control panel. Windows 7 x64 SP1.

Uninstall the drivers and install them again.
For me it worked without any problems on Win7 x64 SP1.
bla.blub11 Jul 2011 @ 12:47
updating 1.31->1.4(cmedia/gx) worked flawless (win7 x64 sp1)
thx for all your efforts

Hi CarvedIns,
Thank for your work, really appreciated. I'm currently using 1.26, having no issues expect there is white noise in foobar (when using DirectSound or ASIO). I have two questions/issues to discuss here:
1. If I do an upgrade to 1.4 will it retain my settings on Xonar Audio Center?
2. On setting "Default format" in "Windows Sound Copntrol Panel" above than 24Bit/48khz all effects are disabled (EQ, 2.0 to 5.1 upmix etc). Is this behavior correct?
Thanks & Regards
Zee
Oh BTW Iām on windows 7 32-bit
CarvedInside12 Jul 2011 @ 02:29
1.Depends, the EQ profiles are saved in cmicnfp.ini from application data folder (use search) and the rest of them are saved in the registry . A direct update should help keep the settings, but to be sure you can do a registry settings save and load this after the install of 1.40 drivers. You can find how to do this here (5. How to save your current settings).
2. No its not, thats some sort of bug that I can't fix. Hopefully its not present in 1794 drivers.
