    S.T.A.L.K.E.R is know to have problems with GX, disable GX and it should work fine.
    If not, kill a HsMgr/HsMgr64 process.

    ASUS GX is a big lie, Xonar cards are not able to support EAX >2 at all, HsMgr is a COM hook. It only lie to application that card support EAX 4, but some effect will crash. And if application has no proper error handling in EAX code, will crash.

    As GX is a lie I always use a "Low DPC Latency" install option (autorun for HsMgr is off in this option).

    BTW, some truth about EAX.

    Creative had some cards that support EAX 4/5, but does not support hardware 3D effects, ie. Creative use software emulated EAX. And all those EAX 4/5 hardware effect should work on any card in software.

    Also there are ASUS motherboards (GENE/MAXIMUS series) with Supreme FX I/II/III that claims to be a Creative card. I it not ! Is Analog Devices, Realtek or VIA codecs, with Creative software to emulate EAX and other effects.

    Personally I know how to "mod" Creative Alchemy to make it work on any card, but this seems to be illegal, so I will not post method to do so. But it work on Xonar DX and integrated AD2000B without problem.

    Again tests / results: Dpc latency is around 128~200 (1.40 Cmedia Panel) vs 220~290 (1974 "Asus") vs 102~180 1.31(Cm panel).

    ASIO latency 24bits/48.000hz@10ms now with 1.40 drops from 10 to 11 and max drop is 13. 10~15 to 60~70 (1974 "Asus") and Unified 1.31 drops 10~20 to 40 max.
    For me and Games, in Traktor 2 and sound programs, is best drive until now.
    Obs: CM Panel error under mixer tab (when click) disappeared!

    Audio Center does not show ? Or what ?

    @Mark
    You should check that box, but digital signature error can be still here for HDAV cards (different driver).

    Yeah it is not showing up. I spent today to find a solution but no success ..

    Its an Asus d2x on an Asus Maximus IV extreme borad with sli 590 gtx graphics , i read somewhere xonars dont like nf200 chipset.

    I tried to remove/reinstall drivers. forced signing of drivers. sound output is on analogue but not on spdif and no control panel.

    Controlpanel is not showing and no tray icon :(,
    HsMgr is runing both 32/64 bit version in the processes.

    Does original ASUS drive work ? I had similar problems some time ago, but re-installing driver help. You may try to install C-Media panel too.

    HsMgr's are a crap for me, break some app/games. I do not use them.

    Panel is not a service, and not require additional service running besides driver (drivers on Windows are services too, with few differences to "normal" services).

    virus, would it be possible to modify these cards (or at least the essence stx) so that they will always put out bit peferct audio in windows, without having to use asio or wasapi?

    would help users having probemls to get adio or wasapi to work properly and would also help in those situations when you cant use those (e.g. sometimes when streaming movies via pc to tv)

    @anonymous

    What modify ? DirectSound ? Is Microsoft API, cannot be modified. Only ASIO and WASAPI are bit perfect ready APIs.

    ASIO and OpenAL ale terrible implemented on Xonar cards, blame C-Media and ASUS.
    WASAPI too have problems some problems, because WASAPI has been build to UAA drivers, but Xonar use standard, old, WDM driver.

    Another way is to write new, open-source driver to this cards using cmediadrivers (http://code.google.com/p/cmediadrivers/) and linux ALSA code. But it will be not quite easy task.

      @Virus :
      I have seen that you could switch from speakers to front panel headphone with a special application written by you.

      Is there a way to enable the SPDIF input on the Xonar DX card?

      There is a SPDIF input on the Xonar DX, it is below the AV100 chip and has 3 pins. The first one is +5V, the second one seems to be the SPDIF in, and the last is ground.

      It is sad that some manufacturers are disabling some features of the hardware.

      Thanks.

      this exactly what I meant, in case of those based c-media cards someone was able to write a driver so that these cards now put out everything bit-perfect, independent from the use of asio and wasapi or not.
      so if you somehow could manage to do that as well - would be great 😉

    Hym, there are no much differences in inf/ini files between DX/D1 or STX, so driver should be able to use this input. I think it may be listed as "Aux" recording device and work out of the box.

    when I use the normal uninstall function, does that really remove EVERYTHING installed or modified of v1.41?

      It depends. I didn't made any changes to the uninstaller. Normally when installing any newer uni xonar driver, it also makes sure the old files are deleted.

      You can use Driver Sweeper for driver cleanup after uninstalling.

        thats the thing, I installed an older version afterwards, but think it *might* sound a bit worse than it used before, so there might be some leftovers.
        at least worse compared to when I went back to it from 1793.
        did there change much from 1794 1.41 to 1793 1.31?

          Use driver sweeper to mange sure there aren't any leftovers.

          Don't know about any other changes.
