The UniXonar installer should include a 'Lite Install' option:

    * Install the C-Media panel only (without copying the buggy ASUS control panel and all its junk [DLLs, skins, files and settings] to the hard drive.

    * Install OpenAL-Soft: http://kcat.strangesoft.net/openal.html
instead of ASUS GX 'accelerated' OpenAL driver.

Your notes mention you disable channel delay -- Is it possible to configure this? I'd love to tune it for my room.

New version is out: just remove old, install it - and it should do what is needed automatically.

@Jonny, from what I know SignTool.exe is a part of Visual Studio or Windows SDK.

Maybe these two links will help you :

"Owners of Xonar HDAV or of non-Asus cards might have trouble installing this version, in this case its recommended to install 1.50 Exp build 1 with test mode."
I strongly disagree: it's better to install v1.41 if you have troubles with v1.51 and don't know much about drivers than to enable test mode on Win7/Vista x64.

My Norton Anti-virus listed the 1.51 as having the WS.reputaion.1 virus.

False positive. Besides my local antivirus, media fire also scans files (with bitdefender).
Here you have log from virustotal.com.
FP is probably because of cleaning routine which deletes any remaining previous driver files from windows directory.

Out of curiosity which version of Norton Antivirus do you use?

Do I need to have the asus drivers installed first for this to work?
I tried without them and it keeps saying to connect my card.

No. What audio card do you have? and OS?

If you have time please try with 1.41 drivers and see if you get the same error.

It's the free Norton download through Comcast. Not by my computer right now, so I can't check which version of Norton.

Norton 360 also detected same false positive and quarantined the exe as soon as done downloading for me.I just restored it and all's well.

Attempting to upgrade from 1.50 exp1 to 1.51. Uninstalled 1.50, disabled test mode, rebooted. 1.51 installer hangs at "Driver is installing. This should not take more than 60 seconds. Please wait..." I've tried installing Normal mode, and Low DPC latency + upmix mode and the same thing happens.

    I’m running Win7 x64, and I waited a good 10 minutes each time.
Currently trying again with silent mode unchecked. Progress bar for “Installing UNi Xonar Audio Driver…” filled up very slowly, and nothing happened once it reached full.

Finally got it working, not sure what I did. It seems that the installer wasn't detecting the card properly, though, as it was asking me to connect it either right away or after a long wait. The time that it worked, I disabled it in Device Manager, then deleted it, then did Scan for Hardware Changes, then ran the Uni installer. That time, I immediately heard the Xonar DX's relays clicking, and the install worked fine.

Glad that you managed to make it work. Seems like the uninstall didn't went to well. Maybe this can be avoided if I will manage to improve the cleaning process.
UNi installer launches Asus/Cmedia Installer, which in silent mode won't show a thing even if its an error, and the installer bar completes when Cmedia installer is done.

Hope you don't mind that I edited you comments a bit for them to be more relevant.

Don't mind the editing at all, was just trying to share whatever information I could dig up in case it helps you and/or others.

The uninstall definitely had problems removing some files that it thought were in-use, but there were some installation attempts where no such problem occurred yet the install still failed.

From what I remember driver cleaning log show "can't find ...", thats always the same everytime. But I must have misread, if you say it shown problems removing some files.
You where right posting whatever information you could find 🙂

We don’t know whats new or improved. The change log from Asus wasn't to helpful, containing only some of the changes/improvements that where made. If you don't have any problems and you are happy with 1.41, then keep them!
