Yeah, that's good idea, I was also planning to do the same, I have just installed Win 8 x64. I'll let you guys know how it goes. So far there no option other than reg settings.

Hi, I just installed v1.53 on Windows 8 x64 with same options (except I selected ASIO 1.0 patch). Guess what everything works fine. II have Xonar D2X on Asus P5Q with 4GB Ram.

I'm using C-Media panel first time, everything looks working so far, I tried Asus CP from install folder but I didn't work (I guess it was XP version). Foobar ASIO is also broken.

I'm think about re-install with Asus CP (default options), what u think if C-Media CP works Asus CP will also work?

PS: I think it has to do something with D2X or Asus Motherboard (because that is common between me and redblob).

Thanks a lot for your great work 🙂

You have access to Asus CP as well when installing drivers with C-Media Panel. Check Start->Programs->Uni Xonar Driver. But Asus Cp working in WIn8 is another issue. None of the CPs are "designed" to work with Windows versions beyond Win7. C-media CP works for you because of a glitch in properly detecting windows version.

    Hello,

I just purchased an Asus Xonar DX sound card and decided to use the unified drivers right away. I installed it at first, but nothing happened. Clicking on "Uni Xonar Audio --> Xonar Audio Center" brought nothing up. (This could be due to me checking the option for signed driver). I removed the unified drivers, rebooted , and downloaded the most recent drivers from Asus's website. Installed the drivers, and then rebooted my computer and then installed the unified drivers. Clicking on "Uni Xonar Audio --> Xonar Audio Center" now brings up the Xonar DX Audio Center Panel. I hope this is how it should work.

Also, How do I verify that I am running on the unified driver and not on Asus's default drivers? Oh and, after the installation, I was asked to select my sound card. Asus Xonar DX wasn't on the list, but the Xonar D1 is, and i selected the Xonar D1 as its simalar to the DX except that the DX is PCI-E.

Try looking at driver version for the audio card in Device Manager. If it shows 1795 or 1796 then you have uni drivers, but based on what are you saying I don't think UNi Drivers where installed.
You mentioned you checked the option for singed driver, you mean "Digital signature bypass (x64 only, for HDAV & non-Asus cards, test mode has to be enabled)" ? Did you also enable test mode, because it will only work with TEST mode on.

Those at the end are specific options only for the cards mentioned. I would have added DX near to D1 if that would had been the case. So no, you don't have to select D1 or anything at the end of the installation.

Can someone please help me, I was using the newest drivers fine and out of nowhere it just stopped working when I restarted. I get a red x on my sound volume control on the taskbar it says "No Audio Output device is installed". I have tried re-installing the uni drivers, but no luck. I am back using the asus drivers as they seem to be the only thing working.

    Hi guys!

I have had a problem with all driver versions for my Xonar DX, including UniXonar ones, read it here:

    http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?id=20110725231324492&board_id=21&model=Xonar%20DX&SLanguage=en-us

In addition to that (read it first), something I've just noticed, the windows system sounds sound right the first 4 seconds just after the desktop appears, after that, they sound with a cutted off start as I describe in that post from the asus official forums. (please read it)

    Any help will be apreciated!

This is expected if you have GX enabled for a game that doesn't need it. Do not enable GX unless you are playing a pre-Vista game needs GX for DirectSound3D and/or EAX support.

I just want to point out something, every time I reinstall setpoint (logitech mouse driver) It seems to disable uni drivers. Not entirely sure why, just pointing this out..

Someone else mentioned that when he installed his HP printer the uni drivers didn't worked anymore. Maybe its not directly related to logitech driver, and has more to do with any driver installation. Do you know this happens only with uni xonar drivers or also with original ones? Thanks for sharing this with us.

Running Setpoint and Uni Drivers here with no problems at all. Personally can't say I have encountered this error and have been using setpoint and uni xonar for about a year now.

It was working in the Developer Preview … not perfectly but it was working … Why can't Asus support our investment … theres really no other cards out there that give you this sound through hdmi … I left creative for this same issue … Wish more people cared about the sound they listen to .... Sound is just as important as picture quality

I searched through the comments and release notes and saw no mention of whether or not these drivers work with the U3. Do they?

Still does it, disabling GX stops audio looping, but then in games that have 5.1 support sound rubbish, it sounds like its being upmixed to 5.1.

It would help a great deal if you could use DTS NEO PC/Dolby Pro Logic in 6 channel mode for none 5.1 sources.

I promise that GX will NOT do anything good for you unless you are playing a game made before Windows Vista that requires DirectSound3D and/or EAX for 5.1 sound. If you're playing a modern Windows game and having trouble getting 5.1 sound, keep GX disabled and look for other configuration issues with the game or Xonar settings.

DPC Latency in Windows 8 seems to be over 1000 with the latest drivers. I can get it back down into the 200's by disabling the audio device and reenabling it in Device Manager. Anyone also seeing this or know of a better solution?
