    Hallo,

I'd like report a bug with the Front Panel switch v3.1. If I run the "frontpanel -headphones.exe" the left and right channel are interchanged. This is realy annoying me while playing shooter. If I'm using "frontpanel - speakers.exe" everything works fine. My system: Win7 Pro x64, Asus Xonar DX 7.1 with "C-Madia GX enabled" driver. Thanks for your work.

If you launch Asus Audio center from start and change to fp headphones from there, how are the channels?

I will check this out and if I can fix it I will upload it as a new version.

This seems like a bug in the drivers. Which driver version are you using? If you have time please try with another version so I have more data about this.

Because I totally removed the original ASUS driver I'm using the driver delivered by your package (v1.61). Currently the version number is 7.12.8.1800. I'll try to install older versions during the next week.

    Hey everyone,
i would just like to leave a note on how i got the driver to work with Win 8. This is a mix and match of the multiple methods i've found on various sites and I've tried this on both Release preview and works great on multiple installs with a working control panel.
    1) Install UniXonar in the usual way.. disable driver signature option ticked. You need to have test mode enabled for this.
    2) Add the control panel of your choice as a shortcut to the startup folder of windows 8 (Its located at C:UsersAppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsStartup. For me i added the CmiCnfgp.cpl shortcut.
    3) Restart
If you're lucky this would work just fine and you'll have a working control panel open up as soon as windows starts. If not continue with the below steps
    4) Obtain a copy of the official xonar drivers from the asus site. The latest version.i have found is 1792. Extract them.
    5) Within the extracted folder find the file cmudaxp.ini and add the below line to it under the section [WDM_CMPCI6]

    ConvMiniport = 0x00000001
Also check if the same section has the following lines present or not. If not add them.
    WaveoutChannelsLimit = 0x00000008
    MagicVoiceSupport = 0x00000001
    Save and close
    6) Open your computer's device manager and install the xonar driver from the above folder
    7) Navigate to the above folder in windows explorer and copy all files inside the WIN7/CustomApp folder. Paste these files in C:Program FilesASUS Xonar DX AudioCustomapp. Replace existing files.
You should now have a working control panel with some missing options.and the original xonar driver from asus
    8) If you wish to move to UniXonar after this. And i highly recommend you do, then simply install unixonar in the normal fashion. As long as you didn't remove the shortcut from the start up folder that we created in step 2 you'll still have a working control panel 😀

Let me know if you have any doubts. And please confirm here if it works for you so that others can also give it a try.

Does not work for me 🙁 Tried it twice but after installation of 1792 asus drivers, the panel will not load up for me neither after installation nor after restart... New installation of Uni xonar doesn't change the situation =/

Disclaimer: I hate Windows 8 for this.

Actually both Asus and Windows 8 are to blame for this. But Asus shares much more of the blame. But I guess I should have expected this, seeing their poor driver support for Windows 7.

I am running Windows 7 64bit with your "UNi Xonar Audio Driver v1.61". When I set my sampling frequency in Windows to "24 Bit, 192000 Hz (Studio Quality)" the equalizer doesn't show any output and the effects don't work (when activated the output stays the exact same). This only changes when I increase the number of channels to above 2, which unfortunately comes to a subjectively perceived loss of quality (I am using an "ASUS Xonar DX" sound card with "Sennheiser HD 598" headphones), or alternatively change the sampling frequency in Windows to either "16/24 Bit, 44100 Hz (CD/Studio Quality)", "16/24 Bit, 48000 Hz (DVD/Studio Quality)". Changing the specified sampling rate within the "Xonar DX Audio Center" does not help either. I also tested this with the default Xonar Audio Driver but the same problem persists.

Do you think you could possibly fix this in your variant? Currently I am either stuck between using the "24 Bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality)" setting in Windows or not being able to use the effects provided by the "Xonar DX Audio Center" and the equalizer at all. It seems to be a problem for other users too, they suspected it was a bug and suggested to simply use the "24 Bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality)" setting and set the sampling rate within the Audio Center to "PCM 192 KHz". Help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I cannot help very much... But do you really need those Asus effects? I would say if you listen to music or watch movies, you can get the sound to way better state without the need of panel's effects or windows output settings, just use some great player like Jriver media center with native ASIO on your soundcard to achieve much better results. If you play games, you can try to get some amp+DAC like Fiio E17 where you have some options of equalisation etc. which will work better way as well... And you can output signal to E17 with SPDIF output or even better via USB which will work for quality as well 🙂

Sorry, can't help with the problem you are describing.
You have to set the same Sample Rate in both the Audio center and in Windows Sound proprieties.

FYI: I am not sure if you are aware of what sample rate does, so excuse me for mentioning this, setting it higher than needed might actually degrade sound quality. You can read more about recommended sample rate and settings in FAQ guide

as i understand it the whole problem is that somewhere in the drivers or control panel's launcher there's a check for windows version and so far no one has been able to figure out how to remove it.. why they couldn't have added the check as all version above vista i don't get 🙁 so if that's true its squarely asus's fault..

Sorry its not working for you guys.. that's the best i've got so far.. i'll be installing rtm sometime soon and then will give it another try.. maybe there's a better way.. i was hoping it'll work for atleast one person 😐

      Thanks for your effort anyway!

The major trouble for me is that I cannot get native ASIO to work with my Essence ST card when Asus or C-media panel is not loaded, editing registry doesn't do the trick. Rear switch between analog outputs is important for me as well. Without that, Win8 is completely useless even it sounds very good...

I use a dual boot (win7 and win8 9200build) and so I can easily test anything... But nothing has worked so far =/

Well, I forgot to say that asus' beta ASIO drivers worked for me -> I was able to use ASIO on my soundcard even the panel didn't load... However, the sound quality and latency was a real crap and CarvedInside told me that he doesn't think there is a way how to modify his Uni xonar to get ASIO to work anyway so still waiting...

Do a driver clean following the steps in FAQ quide.
Try installing Cmedia panel and see if that one works, and from there you can launch Asus Audio Center as well.

Might be also a problem with your windows Asus panel executable, but I don't know how to fix this except reinstalling windows.
      Hope this helps.

I am working on making improvements to Uni Xonar installer being able to remember your last configuration like which panel and options you selected and prefer.
A fellow user submitted a 7.1 Virtual Speaker Shifter profile enchantment, which should improve effect of positioning for games using Dolby Headphone 5.1 and 7.1, and I want to do a standalone switcher for that and then publish it.
I also plan to give another shot at Win8 compatibility. Don't have a ETA on any of these.

Features & improvements wise, I always try new things and such, but for now I don't have anything else that is working.

    Hello guys,

I have a very weird problem. First, I owned a DX xonar before and now a Meridian 2G, that problem existed on both those card, which make me suspect a problem within that chipset. But first let me explain :

All my computer's sounds are leaking into the Mic channel. I've had this problem for 2 years now. And no, stereo Mix is not enabled. Stereo mix is at Zero, disabled, muted. Definitely. Now this being said, the problem is huge : I can cut off my speakers completely, plug them off, I can also cut off the microphone (but not mute it in the control panel, obviously), the music from my computer will keep on being recorded as "microphone" input.

It's not a 1:1 100% volume leak ratio, i'd rather say 20/30% but it's always there. It's very very annoying in skype/teamspeak, any game or chat application. People just hear everything. No, it's not because of Open/semi-open/closed headset leaking sound and blablabla ... It leaks the same sound even with the speakers UNPLUGGED. Sounds just leak into "Mic" 24/7 non stop. Always. All the time.

I've tried everything guys, please help me. Problem started when I went from my Sound Blaster Audigy to an Asus Xonar DX (because I was sick and tired of the bullshit driver problem with buggy Microphone if you have more than 4G of ram, in case somebody remember that. I now have windows 7 64bit and 8G or ram). Then I gave the xonar DX to my brother (who also started having the same fucking problem of sound leaking into mic as soon as he installed that damned card), bought a Meridian 2G brand new, installed it, and the problem is still there. I uninstalled there drivers, installed yours. Still the same shit.

Is it a hardware problem on those chipsets ? How can it be just "bad luck" coming from 2 different card one year appart and 2 different manufacturers (but same chipset company) ?! There is clearly a pattern here. I've searched on asus and auzentech forums and I've found that I'm not the only one with this problem, others have it too.

Please help me fix this guys !

Does your soundcard support native ASIO playback? It would be good to listen to something (music with some better player) using it -> therefore to block any other sound in the system (the only reliable way how to do it) and simultaneously try to play a game with teamspeak/skype on and let the others listen if they can hear something... If your souncard doesn't support it, you can try to listen using some software solution (Wasapi, asio4all) and test the same thing and then let us know the outcome.

Hi. Thanks for your help =)

Yes it does support ASIO playback, it's an Auzentech Meridian 2G.

I tried what you asked, played some music with ASIO driver output selected. The sound still leaks in the microphone channel, even with speakers plugged off.

Let me know if you guys have another idea about it, just shoot I'll try it.

It leakes even with native ASIO? Oh my...

Have you tried to test your onboard soundcard? Does it leak as well when listening and using skype/teamspeak? And what about your brother - what kind of soundcard did he used before your xonar DX (and has he tried to listen and play with teamspeak or use skype, in a way you are using it, before he got DX? Was he succesfull?)?

Have you considered an option to use your onboard audio for teamspeak/skype and dedicated soundcard for listening to music? It may be impossible to set it together (it just depends, you have to try it yourself...) but as far as I know it could work...

If I misunderstand something about your issue, please correct me 🙂

            Hello again,

Yeah, it leaks even with my onboard realtek chipset (I repeat : with or without any microphone being actually plugged). And that's exactly how it happens on my brother's computer also.

And yes, he also had a creative soundblaster card before (just like me) and yes it also worked perfecly normal for him before.

And no, you didn't misunderstand anything about my issue, it's exactly as you picture it =)

In fact, bear with me, I know it's not "technically" possible from a Hardware standpoint but it's "just like if" that Asus DX card was corrupted and was basically fucking up every PC it gets installed to. Or it might be the original Asus sound drivers ... I don't know but it's very weird because I use driver sweeper everytime, and I have uninstalled/installed those drivers a billion times and I've been also using those unified drivers here for a while now. They all install perfectly (just like Asus/Auzentech drivers. Never had a problem from that standpoint) and basically everything worked great on both those C-Media chipset cards. Except the massive sound leaks into the Microphone thing ...

Let me know if you get any other idea !

              Hello!

I understand and don't think you can do much more than you have done so far...

It's really really strange... The leakage is not a good thing even if you'll somehow find different solution for your internet communication! I would say that it just leaves your card in unusable state! But the trouble is that it may not be a problem related to the soundcard and that's why there is no solution available anywhere so far =/

Have you tried to remove the card and uninstall OS then install it once again? What happens - does your ONBOARD soundcard still leak sounds? It probably will but it's likely you would have to try everything if you really want to find a solution with this piece of hardware =/ Or you can try to flash motherboard's BIOS, maybe the DX card fucked up something in relation to that... But this is surely more a desperate guess than a relevant advice =/

Unfortunately, I am not a technician... I would advise you to try to contact nwavguy (nwavguy.blogspot.com/) by e-mail as he has an OUTSTANDING knowledge about audio and is an electrical engineer as well. If he couldn't help to spot the origin of that leakage, you should probably get rid of that card =/

In that case, if anything fails, you should buy a soundcard from a manufacturer completely different than Asus/Auzentech/Creative as those are quite related to each other.

I checked and for me it works the correct way. Tried a bunch of settings and with the driver with C-media with GX installed.
My guess would be either GX is messing things up in the applications you've tested or the front panel is connected in reverse (maybe from manufacturing).

Hi, I'm sorry. I had much things to do this week so I had no time for testing anything. If it's true and the driver works and the fault is an other one I'm wondering why the "frontpanel - speaker.exe" don't work in the same way and do not interchange the channels. That's confusing me a little bit.

In Device Manager, theres a yellow exclamation mark next to the ASUS Xonar DG Audio Device. The Device status is "Windows Cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this devices."

Do you have Testmode enabled in Windows? If not, completely uninstall the drivers, enable testmode using "Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider (DSEO)" (a simple soft - no need to install it - which will edit your Windows to enable testmode and even hide its watermark from desktop) and then install uni xonar once again (you can run the installation as an administrator as well to be sure).

This is the safest way. You can also try to avoid test mode by using "Driver signature bypass" option when installing Uni xonar... But this is not for 100%.

Try following Possible solution 1 from this page.

If it does not work, enable test mode and install the drivers with Driver signature bypass option enabled.
