For those users like Ryunam whose screen resolution makes it hard to use the new Profile Editor / Real Time Settings window, here's an old revision (113), compiled as 230 so it won't trigger the autoupdate for a while:
http://www.3dalchemy.com/download/XonarSwitch_113.zip
It will get autoupdated eventually when the official revision number will be past 230, but when that will happen XonarSwitch should have its interface reoganized so that it's usable by everybody again.

Hi!
I've got a Xonar Essence ST and tried the Switch today, but it says that althoiugh it detects the card, that the speakers are disabled. Sure enough, I've got speakers plugged, turned on and the xonar speakers are set as default audio device. Any idea what could be the problem? Any other infi I could provide to help troubleshoot this? Thx! ๐
Giulio03 Nov 2013 @ 19:01
Apparently XonarSwitch detects that the Xonar Speakers audio endpoint isn't in an active status.
You say Xonar Speakers are the default device so it seems there's something weird going on, since a disabled device can't be the default one.
If they are enabled, try disabling and re-enabling them:
Right click on the speaker tray icon -> playback devices -> right click on the Xonar Speakers -> Disable and then right click again and Enable.
If that does nothing, please send me an a-mail following the instructions above under "How to contact the author" and attach the file you get by clicking on the "Save Complete Diagnostic Info" button in the "About XonarSwitch" window.
Bill06 Nov 2013 @ 16:18
email sent, thx! ๐

I've got the same problem on my D2X. It worked okay for a few days and prolly along with me reinstalling applications (was a fresh windows 7 installation) it eventually failed. Now I made a new installation again and the same problem occurs. I'll mail you the info if I can find the email addy....
Arindel04 Nov 2013 @ 13:27
Found a small issue.
On Xonar DGX, when I edit my headset profile which has: "8 Channels, Rear panel 2 speakers, AMP: Exciter":
If I change Audio Channels in Edit profile, the AMP changes to Don't Change from Exciter.
Arindel04 Nov 2013 @ 13:28
Correction: Rear panel Headphones, not Rear panel 2 speakers. Oops, my bad.
Giulio04 Nov 2013 @ 14:13
Good catch. I'll patch it later today.
Arindel04 Nov 2013 @ 16:09
Thanks!
By the way, have you considered the suggestions that I've posted before in previous page?
I'm asking because it seems to have been missed...for some reason. No replies at all. =)
Giulio04 Nov 2013 @ 16:23
Yep, and I've replied in the meanwhile.

The latest version crashes directly after starting. Previously worked fine here. Win 8.1 pro N x64 / Asus Xonar DG. Tried removing and cleaning all associated leftover files and registry items before installing anew. This did not help. The event viewer shows a lot of the following 2 erros associated with OLEAUT32.dll and ntdll.dll: http://pastebin.com/SZHuWSnX
Giulio05 Nov 2013 @ 19:52
If you already have my address saved somewhere or are able to run XonarSwitch by activating Windows 8 compatibility mode, and thus to follow the instructions above on how to send me an e-mail, please do so.
Otherwise let me know if it's ok for me to write to the mail address you used to post here.
propheticus06 Nov 2013 @ 04:16
Compatibility mode works. Mail has been sent.
Robin05 Nov 2013 @ 19:45
Is is possible to run XonarSwitch without jumping through all the hoops of disabling Windows security? To get it to run here I have to both disable SmartScreen and allow the dialog box that asks if I want to allow an application from an unknown publisher (Windows 8.1).
Giulio05 Nov 2013 @ 20:54
Iโm working on a revision that should hopefully work without elevated privileges. I donโt know if that will affect the SmartScreen dialog, since that relies more on how often a certain file is downloaded by Internet Explorer users, but the unknown publisher window shouldnโt pop up anymore.
Christian06 Nov 2013 @ 23:33
Got an odd bug now, I start it and it shows up in the tray and in the task manager for about 3-4s, then vanishes from both, I've tried updating to the latest version manually with no change.
I can still use it to swap profiles if I hit the key-combo in the short time-frame it stays on.
Win8.1x64
Giulio07 Nov 2013 @ 01:02
Please use the link at the top of the page to download version 113 and then follow the instructions above to contact me and send me an e-mail. I have a version I want you to try that might have already solved your problem, Thanks.

Hello! Just passing trough to say how much this i'm liking this program! Decided to try it out today, it's much lighter than the Crazy Buged-Ass Asus Default one, and actually simpler to use! It just works ๐
Just a question tough: Is it possible to add an option (I didn't see it either on the Original Asus Control Panel thats why i'm asking if it is possible) to upmix sound 2.0 / 4.0 / 5.1, etc, to 7.1? The default driver / the driver i got from here seems to only be able to upmix stereo sound (and not from every aplication, some apps / movies in VLC can only use the front speakers instead of all my 7 ones).
Again, amazing work here, i'm amazed how Asus didn't create something like this in the first place. Gotta love the PC Community ๐
Giulio07 Nov 2013 @ 01:08
Thanks for your feedback. I might be wrong but I have a feeling this is a limitation of the c-media drivers and/or the card hardware. If that's the case there isn't much I can do about it.
Paulo07 Nov 2013 @ 01:21
No problem at all. Maybe some next generation cards will be able to do it in the future ๐ Anyway, keep up the amazing work! So far I'm really liking this tiny program, 0 issues so far! Thank you for making this ๐
panhans08 Nov 2013 @ 12:08
Hey I just want to report a little visual bug. After starting XonarSwitch the current active profile isn't shown right in the context menu. So there is no dot next to the profile name.
greets!
Xevon12 Nov 2013 @ 07:50
Having issues. Whenever I boot it, it appears in the tray for about 2 seconds then vanishes again. It's not in Task Manager so I can only assume it's closed itself. Doesn't start on boot either. Have tried reinstalling it and all that jazz. Windows 8.1 Pro x64 with Xonar DG
Xevon12 Nov 2013 @ 08:08
PS: Using latest version. Have tried reinstalling drivers also.
Giulio12 Nov 2013 @ 10:25
A very similar crash is fixed in my internal build. Unless I find something wrong in my last tests, I should release it in 5-6 hours. If your bug is the one I fixed, it doesn't prevent autoupdate from working.
When you see on this page the new release notes start XonarSwitch and it should autoupdate before the bug is triggered. Then please let me know if the new revision fixes your problem as well.
Giulio12 Nov 2013 @ 11:51
I found a problem that will force me to push back the release until it's solved,
Let me know if it's ok for me to send you an e-mail with an intermediate development revision that has solved a bug similar to yours for another tester.
Gohla14 Nov 2013 @ 16:03
Thanks for developing this application, really helps out with switching between my speakers and headphones.
I was using 214 but it would sometimes suddenly exit with a prompt saying "Run-time error '53': File not found". So I downloaded the newer version 257, but it doesn't start up any more. When I try to start XonarSwitch.exe explorer just hangs and it never gets started, even if I run it with admin privileges. Anything else I have to do? I'm running Windows 8 x64 with a Xonar D2X.
Giulio14 Nov 2013 @ 16:14
I can't ask you to send me an e-mail, since you would need to open the about window to get my address and you don't make it that far in the program.
If it's ok for me to send you an e-mail at the address you used to post here, you can help me troubleshoot and fix what's going wrong on your machine.
Gohla14 Nov 2013 @ 16:31
Sure
Gohla14 Nov 2013 @ 16:34
Interesting, if I run the exe using Win+R it actually starts up. I'll see if I still get the โRun-time error โ53โฒ: File not foundโ error in this version and let you know.
Giulio14 Nov 2013 @ 16:40
Do you run XonarSwitch under a normal user or an administrator?
Gohla14 Nov 2013 @ 17:56
Currently as a normal user, but I have UAC turned off so it might run under admin (or be able to get admin rights easily). The error has not appeared so far so I think your new version fixed it. Apparently I can also launch it from explorer now, not sure what was wrong earlier, probably my Windows acting weird. So it completely works now, thanks ๐
Manu14 Nov 2013 @ 19:46
I wonder if you can drop elevated privileges for all user accounts (including administrators)?
If your app is working under normal user accounts without elevated privileges, then it will work without elevated privileges at all.
I did an experiment by modifying the compatibility flags so that it does not ask for elevated privileges under administrator accounts and I was able to change every audio related setting without problems. The only thing that did not work was this task scheduler autostart hack you're currently using which is required only for elevating privileges.
Giulio14 Nov 2013 @ 21:24
The reason I haven't dropped elevated privileges completely is mainly because I think (I might be wrong) that most users like to have a completely automated update feature that doesn't ask for confirmations or administrator passwords but just informs the user that the update has taken place. That requires elevated privileges that in turn require what you call the scheduler hack in order to have a working autostart with UAC enabled.
Users logging with normal accounts are a different story, since they are usually very security-oriented persons who tend to accept a bit less convenience in exchange for a better control of what happens on their system.
That said, if I find an elegant way of making everyone happy, and add your scenario to the two I'm currently supporting, I will.
Zsolt15 Nov 2013 @ 16:50
It would be nice if left click did something on the icon. Like pop-up volume control (like the windows volume icon). Also it'd be nice if it showed the volume on hover or maybe even on the icon.
Pretty much the only things I keep windows volume icon because it shows the volume on hover (it'd be better if the icond showed it) and quick access to volume control.
Giulio15 Nov 2013 @ 18:46
Feature requests added to my list.
Thanks for your feedback!
Zsolt16 Nov 2013 @ 17:11
Great!
Thanks for the consideration!
kasper9316 Nov 2013 @ 18:24
Could you add option to mute sound while switching profiles? To avoid voice crack and to save my headphones from 100% volume ;p
I mean something like mute->change output->change volume->change AMP value->unmute.
Do you think you could do something like that? Or do you have other idea? Basically I want to lower the volume BEFORE changing output to Headphones and higher volume AFTER switching to speakers. Not sure if you get what I mean ;p
Giulio17 Nov 2013 @ 21:14
So if I understand correctly you'd want the profile switch to take place while the master volume is muted, so that you don't have crack pops and so on, and then unmute it when all the new settings have been applied.
I guess it can be done. Are you available to test a possible build that implements this new switching mode? My card doesn't have a headphones amp, so probably the benefit of the new way of switching can't be appreciated all that much.
kasper9319 Nov 2013 @ 19:56
> So if I understand correctly youโd want the profile switch to take place while the master volume is muted, so that you donโt have crack pops and so on, and then unmute it when all the new settings have been applied.
Exactly.
Sure, I can test ๐ You can send me an email with test build if you have one.
Giulio19 Nov 2013 @ 20:22
I've took a note of your email and removed it from the message just in case.
From the tests I've done, the cracking noise you get when applying some settings (i.e. changing the sample rate) happens also while the master volume is muted and/or its level is set to zero. They are probably generated in the sound path section which is after the mute and volume controls.
You can check that by yourself by playing music, muting the master volume and then changing sample rate or some other parameter either in XonarSwitch's Real Time Settings or one of the official control panels. Even though you won't hear any music, you'll still hear the cracks.
Technically it's easy to do what you say, but I'm afraid it's not going to make much of a difference.
kasper9321 Nov 2013 @ 06:11
Ok, maybe not every crack will be fixed, but at least volume will not be changed to 100% (on my headphones) before switching to speakers. It doesn't happen often, but currently there is quite a few race conditions there from what I can tell.
Giulio21 Nov 2013 @ 11:06
OK I'll add "mute switching". It should be effective for the volume problem.
Delerue16 Nov 2013 @ 19:59
Hey! Congratulations! I love your app. It's clean, portable, fast, easy to use and very powerful. If you don't mind, I have a few suggestions. ๐
1- An option to disable autoupdate, once sometimes the download takes long (or I don't have connection) and I just want to switch between speakers/heaphone.
2- Some highlight of the current activated profile.
3- Review text spacing limit on Windows XP (no theme here). Take a look: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v256/Delerue/XonarSwitch_zps94c01d5b.png
4- An option to save the settings on a .ini/.cfg file. It will be specially useful when reinstalling Windows.
Best regards!
Giulio17 Nov 2013 @ 21:16
Thanks for your feedback. I've took a note of your suggestions. The text spacing limit review will be in the next revision for sure.
Delerue19 Nov 2013 @ 00:10
Thanks, man!
Jason Brown19 Nov 2013 @ 07:59
Thank you very much for making XonarSwitch compatible with normal user accounts. One note about the Xonar H6 daughterboard, it isn't supported by the STX even though you currently have it listed it as being compatible, there's only pins for it on the ST. Made me look again though!
Giulio19 Nov 2013 @ 11:30
Thanks for pointing out my mistake about the STX supporting the Xonar H6. I've corrected the patch notes so I don't illude anybody else!
