I absolutely love this thing. Just got myself a Xonar DG and your program is exactly what I needed.

I have concern though! I just started using XonarSwitch and made myself 3 presets, two for headphones (gaming and music, both front panel) and one for speakers (back panel).
When I switch from either of the headphone presets to the speakers preset I get a very short "tic" sound coming from my PC case... As if something is physically switching in there.
I'm worried what it might be. I SO want to use this program, but if this can harm my Xonar, I'll need to stop using it :S

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

The click you hear is the relay that switches output between the rear RCA and the front panel connectors, and it's perfectly normal.

You'll hear that also if you use the ASUS control panel and you choose a rear panel analog output and then a front panel one or vice-versa.

XonarSwitch doesn't have the ability to directly interact with your Xonar card, it merely sends the same software commands to the Xonar Driver the ASUS control panel sends, it just tries to do things in a more optimized and convenient way. So don't worry, it can't damage your card.

Good news with Bitdefender Internet Security 2013..I talked to the guys and after a couple of mails and some misunderstandings i got it sorted out..This means that XonarSwitch (this version .299) is not anymore considered a "virus"..The Download link is ALLOWED to be accesed by Bitdefender Internet security Security 2013..Also the XonarSwitch files and services are not deleted anymore by the antivirus...
So for 2013 version at least (that i own) download latest Virus Signatures and then get XonarSwitch installed...

    Good luck ...

In the meanwhile I found a way to submit false positives to Bitdefender tech support without having to provide a license code, so from now on I'll submit every new revision before releasing it. To check if the engine detects a threat or not I'll use one of those online multiengine scans like Virustotal or Metascan.

        Thanks for your suggestion though.

Since revision 299 was published, and the following multiple false positive problems with several antivirus engines, I got in touch with the main vendors and worked with them to improve the situation.

As a result, revision 324 doesn't currently show any false positive:
    https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/be758269c5d82d9f8722eba1cc3bf4cad5156413948c1fbd10ed1140b31749f0/analysis/1386413860/

Should any false positive problem arise in this or future revisions, either in daily use or during the autoupdate process, please let me know so that I can have that fixed as well.

    Thanks.

I've added a note in the main post above about ClearType.

Testers running Windows XP that use a flat panel display and have never heard of ClearType, are advised to take a look since that might improve their visual experience with XonarSwitch and the operating system in general.

Giulio, the 324 build doesn't know that I'm under Windows XP x64, so if I click on the 'Mixer' (after a single click on the tray) it tries to execute 'sndvol32.exe' under folder 'windows\syswow64', but there's no mixer there. Why? Well, since your app is 32 bits, even if it explicitly calls 'windows\system32', Windows API will translate it to 'windows\syswow64'. The solution, I guess, is to look for 'Wow64DisableWow64FsRedirection' documentation. I'm not sure which language you're programming, but if it's C++ I can give you a simple solution.

BTW, I can't wait to see an option to disable autoupdate and the possibility to save the settings in a file. 🙂

Thanks for your feedback. The sndvol32.exe problem under XP x64 is already fixed internally. I'll release the hotfix as soon as I have the time to remove another problem regarding WASAPI playback interruption caused by the volume popup feedback sound.

Since rev. 257, XonarSwitch's settings have been moved to:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\XonarSwitch

so that the app is compatible with normal user accounts.
A less-than-optimal but working way of saving settings is to export the key and/or its subkeys (depending if you want to save all settings or just one or more profiles) to a reg file using regedit.

If you use a normal user account, be sure to run regedit unelevated, or the HKEY_CURRENT_USER presented to you will be the administrator's and you won't find XonarSwitch's settings there.

Sound Card Model : Xonar DGX
        Xonar Driver Version : 8.0.8.1821
Xonar Driver Registry Key : SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}007
Xonar Card Instance ID : PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_85211043&REV_00\5&2D2E4012&0&2000E0
Operating System Version : Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center x64
Operating System Locale ID : 1035

        1. I call to my friend by Skype.
        2. The sound doesn't hear and profile and Skype audio output are correct.
        3. I change to my other "hometheater" profile and then I change back to headset profile. Then I hear sound.

        This problem is only Skype.

If you use a keyboard shortcut to activate the headphones profile without activating the hometheater one before, does that solve the issue?

If it does, try doing this: put yourself back in the situation where skype's output doesn't work.
At this point, don't switch profiles back and forth, but right click on the XonarSwitch tray icon instead. Is the current profile menu checked?

If not, it means something has been changed since you switched to that profile, probably by Skype.

Without switching profiles, open the Real Time Settings window and check to see if you see anything different from the headphones profile there. That should be the parameter that has been altered by Skype and which prevents your output from working.

Avast flags the auto updater "Bridge.exe" as virus Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]. I believe this to be a false positive since virustotal show 40/49 scanners reporting it's clean. However 9 scanners report a threat (suspect/riskware), possibly because the file is new, rare and signed by an unknown vendor.

I'll submit Bridge.exe (which is a component of the autoupdate system) as a false positive as well.
The good thing about that compared to XonarSwitch, exe is that it doesn't change from time to time, so it should suffice submitting it once.

      Thanks for your feedback!

    Hello!
I'm experiencing a bug: On first try the mixer does not open. I have to click the icon again for the volume pop-up and click the mixer text again. After this the mixer opens normally. I don't know if the issue resurfaces after a while, but the first time after start (and today after the auto-updates) it happens. All this under windows 8.1 using Xonar D1.

It seems that there's some sort of delay before showing the mixer which is then immediately closed, it just blinks. On the second time it's shown immediately.

The auto update function hasn't been working correctly in at least two of the latest XonarSwitch versions on Windows 8.1 64bit. When XonarSwitch tries to update itself I just get a "This app can't run on your PC. To find a version for your PC, check with the software publisher". The same message is shown when manually trying to update by right clicking the task bar icon. The automatic update function failing gets kind of annoying when you have a full screen application (game etc.) on and it minimizes because of this error message.

The versions before the latest ones seemed to work perfectly every time. Now I have to manually download the latest version from this page every time when updating which isn't a big deal but I just wanted to let you know about the problem. I haven't tested this on other Windows 8.1 64bit systems so can't say if it occurs every time on other systems too.

What antivirus do you have? Another tester experienced the same problem and it was then determined that SmartScreen displayed that message because the antivirus (Avast in his case) blocked one of the components of the autoupdate system.

If your antivirus in one of those listed in the link posted above by propheticus that are affected by the false positive problem, then this is most likely the cause. I've already submitted Bridge.exe to all those antivirus vendors and the problem should disappear as soon as they whitelist it and the signatures are updated.

Yeah, I should've read the earlier comments before posting. I actually also have Avast at the moment and have excluded the XonarSwitch.exe location itself from scanning but parts of the program seem to be working also from the temporary directories under my user account so maybe it's blocking something from running there. Nice to know that it probably gets fixed when the AV vendors get the false positive whitelisted. Thank you for the great program and UniXonar-drivers.

Just for the sake of clarity and to give credit where credit is due, I develop XonarSwitch but CarvedInside is the author of the UniXonar drivers and this site belongs to him :).

Well, thanks to the CardvedInside for the UniXonar drivers. =) These pieces of software make the Xonar cards a lot better. I whitelisted the Bridge.exe location/URL on Avast and now the auto updating works as supposed. So the AV vendor whitelisting will probably fix this for good as you said.
