In the "Analog Out" options, there are headphones, 2 speakers, 4 speakers, 5.1 and 7.1. Is there any way to add support for 4.1? I have a subwoofer but no center speaker.
Alec20 Nov 2018 @ 20:10
I also only use a 4.1 setup. The solution is to load Equalizer APO (freeware) and use it with the GUI. You can set your output to 5.1 and within the equalizer mix the centre channel back into the left and right channels. The text based command for the equalizer is below. Hope this helps.

Probably this is a dummy question for most of you... but I have no idea how to solve this.
I am using the Xonar drivers 1823 to operate my Auzentech sound card on W10x64, and it works perfectly fine.
Recently I purchased a Bose QC35ii headphones.
When using it with my PC I wanted to get rid of that headphone cable so I got me a Bluettooth adapter.
Connection as BT headphones works but the sound it not as good as it is with the cable.
In this case the C-media Panel settings have no effect at all.
It seems that it is not even part of the audio connection.
Is there anything wrong with my setup?
Thanks
Karsten
Case21 Nov 2018 @ 01:09
You can't just replace cable connection to the soundcard with a bluetooth adapter and expect the sound to be unaffected. Not sure what bluetooth adapter you have got there, but more than likely, that bluetooth adapter is basically acting like a simple soundcard/DAC with obviously worse properties than your Auzentech, and the Auzentech is now just sitting in your PC not doing anything.
Karsten22 Nov 2018 @ 20:20
Thank you. Your comment confirms what I was suspecting. Seems I need to investigate into BT audio transmitters that are connected to audio line-out - or just stay with the cable and enjoy 100% quality...
Case22 Nov 2018 @ 20:50
Connecting to audio out wouldn't help much IMO, even if such thing exists (I am not sure it does), the sound you hear would still mostly be created by the DAC in your BT headphones (unlike when you're just using the wired connection) and it will still be subject to the quality loss that comes with using Bluetooth audio. There's a reason people who care about audio quality rarely use it...
Karsten22 Nov 2018 @ 21:12
So the DAC is inside the BT headphones? That suprises me, because when it's connected to my Cowon J3 the difference between BT and cable is existing but it's not significant. On the PC it's blatant - but still not as worse as it is with a "wrong" profile (phone headset).

Hello, i have the Asus Xonar STX(first edition).
I've been trying something lately i was sure was going to work, but i can't seem to get it working.
I have two computers, I want the computer with the STX card in it to listen to the other computer.
So what i've done is connected a Minijack(Line out on the other computer) - 2xRCA(in the RCA input on my soundcard), then i went to soundsettings, found the STX Line in output and checked "listen to this device".
In my head, everything should be correct and should be working, but i'm getting no sound.
I would really appreciate tips on how to make this work.
Thank you alot in advance!
CarvedInside03 Dec 2018 @ 10:50
Hello.
Line In or Microphone connection for STX is one of the 6.3mm jacks and not the RCA. Check the STX manual to learn which one.
If "Listen" option should work but if it does not work, disable the "Listen" option and try the "Monitoring" option in Custom tab.

Thanks for the report. The boot always crashes with v1.80a (1823) drivers? Have you tried any other drivers, especially with v1.81a (1825) and v1.71.1 (1821)?
What Xonar card and motherboard do you have? Please post the Windows 10 build number.

Hey guys, just bought a asus xonar dx for dirt cheap, and i've installed the latest drivers from here with the c-media panel.
Can someone help me to configure it for corsair void stereo headset? Mainly for games, music and discord.
I really know nothing about sound stuff , but had to change the soundcard due to the fact that the mobo one was broken.
igal16 Dec 2018 @ 17:53
Why I hear only 3 speakers in 5 ? in test youtube when need back left or right speaker voice be only.. I hear only from the front speaker..need make 5.1 with pioneer receiver set it with an optical cable from the receiver to pc Xonar sound card ?
Case16 Dec 2018 @ 23:21
If by "test youtube" you mean you're playing some sort of surround test from YouTube, then you will never be able to hear the rear speakers as YouTube only supports stereo sound, not surround sound. It's technically not possible to play surround sound from YouTube.
CarvedInside17 Dec 2018 @ 22:00
Case is right, there is no 5.1 audio content in youtube. If you want to upmix the stereo sound from youtube to be played through all 5.1 speakers then tell us which audio card do you have, the Pioneer receiver model and which audio panel do you use (Asus Audio Center, C-Media Panel, XonarSwitch).

I got a really nice BSOD after connection my headphone MIC in the sound card
driver irql not less or equal
cmudaxp.sys
CarvedInside19 Dec 2018 @ 14:11
Please provide the following information: The Windows 10 version, UNi Xonar driver version, Xonar card, if you've plugged the microphone in the case's front panel or directly to the card.
If this BSOD happens again or on multiple occasions you can let us know with an update to your original comment.

Am I the only one who has the issue with sound randomly stopping in the right channel/headphone? On Xonar DX l, have tried multiple drivers. Windows 10 - 1809 : was happening as usual on previous Windows buildsm
Marco24 Dec 2018 @ 18:45
All i can say is that i've bought myself a xonar dx a few days ago, and i'm using 1.81a with 0 issues, c-media panel only.
I'm also using a stereo headset from corsair and the dolby headphone effect on.
CarvedInside25 Dec 2018 @ 18:59
Is this the issue that happens when clicking on the Windows Volume as you've reported here or this time it happens randomly regardless of your actions?
Normally you shouldn't have this, except rarely. I have a Xonar DX and I only have such an issue once every 1-3 months when waking the computer from sleep or starting up. But I am on Windows 7.
If the issue is not Windows 10 related, then it might be caused by an incompatibility with the motherboard. What motherboard do you have? Have you tried plugging the card in different PCIe slots? Have you tried updating the cards PLX firmware (see FAQ Q&A:20)
Vin31 Dec 2018 @ 06:39
It's mostly when changing tracks in foobar2000 or sometimes after a long period of my PC being inactive and I do something that plays back audio. Anyways, I recently purchased a Creative Sound blasterX AE-5 to replace this. The Xonar DX gave me excellent audio and always sounded great besides this bug that is a major inconvenience for me. Thanks for the continued support with these unified drivers and good luck to everyone!
CarvedInside31 Dec 2018 @ 22:37
Hopefully the Creative AE-5 will offer you a better experience.

The driver menu crashes when trying to select something from the Audio Channel, Analog Out, or the SPDIF Out box for PCM, and it does not set the setting.
Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (Version 1809, Build 17763)
Card: Xonar Essence STX
Tried v1.80a-r3 and v1.81a-r2 with driving cleaning checked and restarted PC both before and after.
Hunter25 Dec 2018 @ 18:34
I figured out the issue!
In sound playback device options, the circled โSpeakersโ device shown below was disabled. Once I right clicked on it and enabled it, I was able to change settings in the Xonar driver menu without issues.
CarvedInside25 Dec 2018 @ 18:46
Thanks for posting the solution.
Before, did you manually disable "Speakers" device or it was automatically disabled? Are you using analog or SPDIF output?
BTW Please use the Reply button on the right of the comment you are replying to.
Hunter25 Dec 2018 @ 21:05
I believe I may have manually disabled it a long time ago. I'm using SPDIF output only.

Hi everyone, I thought I will post my tips on how to get unixonar drivers work in the latest windows 10 version, If you ever also want to install dolby atmos for headphones..
Step 1: Install the latest unixonar driver [UNi Xonar W10 1825 v1.81a r2 1825] along with Disabled Driver Signing option.
Step 2: Download the official STX driver (not the STX II driver from asus website) and extract it anywhere you desire. Restart with disabled driver signing again and then go to device manager double click on STX II Audio device and go to [Driver] tab and click on update driver-> [browse for driver software]-> [Let me pick a list of drivers] and browse for the STX driver INI file found on the extracted STX driver and install it. If you get blue screens, just keep repeating the process with driver signing disabled.. I think everyone have ssd or M.2 drives these days and ultiple restarts isn't an issue for me.
Step 3: Install dolby access and if it requires you to restart your machine again, then restart with driver signing disabled and open the app again to install the files and bam! you got dolby atmos + 1823 STX driver version installed. I got only 0.10% reboots yet when changing inputs from speakers to headphones.
NOTE: if you ever get reboots on installing the unixonar driver in step 1, just keep restarting with disabled driver signing, also clean your registry with Ccleaner. Don't enable any onboard audio too. Hopefully you will have yours fully functional... CHEERS! ๐ Been listening to music and playing games without those restarts for a week now
Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 Aorus M
Processor: Ryzen 2600x

I have a weird microphone buzzing issue related to pre-amplyphied option in mic-in..
Essentially without the option on, the mic volume is too low but once the option is on the mic works fine on discord but it has a weird buzzing in the background and there's no rumour cancellation option, what can i do?
Rademenes28 Dec 2018 @ 18:45
Hi all. With fresh instalation Windows 10 (at ssd) i've lost sound from Essence STX II. Did everything what people says - turn off internal soundcard on motherboard, unistall all drivers from them and Nvidia, clean setup with original drivers from Asus and UNi with no result. There's less option in Audio Center: no 5.1 or 7.1 which i had at previous system version (on another harddisk) :/ is there any possibility to get sound restore?
CarvedInside29 Dec 2018 @ 02:21
1. Did you installed a newer Windows 10 version than you previously had? Which Windows 10 version do you have?
2. Is the card properly detected under Windows Device Manager?
3. Sound doesn't work at all or just 5.1/7.1 does not work because the option is missing?
4. Are you using analog or S/PDIF output?
5. Your current speakers work with the onboard card?
6. If you have the computer case audio front panel connected to the STXII card, have you tried connecting some other speakers or headphones to the front panel and enabling it in the audio panel?
Chris30 Dec 2018 @ 18:30
Sometimes when coming out of standby I will lose all audio until I restart Win10. Also, in some games I might get the odd stutter when a sound plays. It isn't serious, but I never had this before (could be a latency thing?).

Hi again, this year I updated my psu (to corsair cx650), my cpu (phenon IIX4 to fx8300) and my video card (gtx 650ti to gtx 1060 6GB) and now I rejoin some games to enjoy the graphic improvement.
recently replaying Dragon Age inquistion, in an important scene, I put the audio in my home theater, via SPDIF and DTS Interactive. the same asus xonar dsx since the first time I played this game years ago. but now I have sound stutters I believe ... the game freezes for a few moments, making a noise referring to the last sound playing, and then back to normal ... but this has happened many times, only when playing via dts interactive... I do not know what to do ... either using the driver UNi Xonar W10 1825 v1.81a r2 as the original of the asus, already changed slot, changed power options, nothing solves ...
Darko31 Dec 2018 @ 10:45
Try to put your DSX in one of the PCIeX16 ports if it is in the lower pcie 4 or 8 slots . I noticed on my ASUS Z170-A when I put the DSX in one of the lower tier PCIe ports it doesn't work properly and fails while playing DTS Interactive ..it just produce some weird white noise like sound randomly , I then relocated the DSX to one of the PCIeX16 ports and no problems ever since . It's worth the try ๐
I have a second system for gaming an hp OMEN X900 desktop and have another DSX there in the same PCe16 port ( only extra available in that motherboard also Z170 chipset) and it is working without any problems , that made me think and change the other one from my HTPC on ASUS Z170-A to one of the available 16 ports when I experienced DTS Interactive issues there .
Initially as this is an audio card I didn't think much of it when I was building my HTPC and install the card in a more appropriate PCIe 4 ports (the smaller one ) who fits the DSX perfectly however for some reason it doesn't really like that port but likes the 16 one ๐
CarvedInside31 Dec 2018 @ 22:21
Interesting. Out of the 3 PCIe x16 slots, in which one did you plugged the Xonar DSX card? The top 2 slots are wired directly to the CPU. The 3rd slot(bottom) is wired to the chipset along with the other PCIe x1 slots. Do you have a dedicated video card plugged into the ASUS Z170-A motherboard.
CarvedInside31 Dec 2018 @ 22:28
I'm not sure if you know but it seems that your onboard card on the Asus Z170-A also supports DTS Interactive encoding. With digital output (S/PDIF) there is no sound quality improvement between onboard and dedicated audio cards. By using the soundcard S/PDIF output you are bypassing the soundcard's DAC and op-amps and use those in the receiver/speakers/headphones instead. Depending on the quality of the DAC and op-amps in those devices, the sound might be better or worse than from your sound card. If you want to use the audio card for the sound processing you will need to use the analog jack connections.
Alves01 Jan 2019 @ 09:49
I had written an answer, but now that I understood what you meant. already did that. it was already in the x16 slot (which runs to x4), but after the upgrade, I put it in the x1 slot next to the chipset, because it goes straight to the processing, and in fact I had an improvement in my eternal problem of delay in audio, thing of milliseconds, but that until then is "normal" due to the conversion in real time ... then the problem happened and I returned to slot x16 ... and until now no solution ... they think that the addition in the processing is causing this stutter? would the dsx not so powerful to work with the fx and the 1060? by the way the motherboard, which is the same, is gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 (rev 3.0). something tells me that it is the spoken dpc latency that is high. but because and how to solve, I do not know.
