@Carvedinside I just noticed a Windows Update that was rolled out on the 12th of this month for Windows 7. It apparently 'solves' an issue were unsigned drivers are allowed to be installed by the Administrator. Will this affect your drivers or will they still work? The update code name is KB2506014. I think.

    Thanks,

    Kevinf63.

After I saw your message I restarted and switched to Win7 and installed the update, uninstalled the drivers and install them again, it works just like before even if it shows that the driver isn't signed.
      So it will still work.

      Thanks for sharing this.

Just thought I'd say thank you. Been using your drivers for a while now because I got so sick with waiting for Asus to sort themselves out.

Just donated, and for anyone reading this... do the same, even if it's just a couple of bucks!

@Carvedinside, but there is difference only C-Media Panel have digial signature on cmudaxp.sys, other have not look here on pics, that small pics of signatures in corner of file

no signature (driver not start without DSEO) http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/8507/problemqz...

Interesting. I did checked this out and shouldn't be a problem either way.

By those pics are you saying that with C-Media option you get the sound card doens't work cause of driver signature but by choosing normal it works?

No vice versa, with c-media panel, it's working like original driver, noramlly installed, everithing playing normally. But normal or DPCLatency or C-media+ASIO patch every other than C-media is signature failure, and windows 7 x64 SP1 not let you to start unsigned driver without specific patches of windows. I don't know on your machine, but on mine i don't have any tweaks or something that i changed/patched. Everything is in orignal state.

This doesn't make much sense. I have read that some people had the driver signature problem while using C-Media panel original drivers with their Meridian 2G.
Lets see if someone else can confirm this. My guess this problem is pretty much random, while for others C-Media Audio panel will work, for some it wont. I will add a new test build pack with the 1793 drivers signed, I am curios if this will work now, as I tried this before but back then there was the other problem with the drivers not being completely uninstalled.

I really don't know why. I use Driver swipper every time, even i checked after cleaning that something still left behind.

            For me normally installing:

            Original xonar driver from Asus
and uni-xonar driver in c-media without asio patch.

else is normally installed but won't be start with signature error (52) in device manager.

Only ways to start is, before bootup i press F8 and select Disable Signature Enforcement, and other way which i use is DSEO that always start windows in driver test mode (and first time i need to point that cmudaxp.sys is in test mode), so i don't need every time to press F8 before bootup.

I am not been lazy i aslo tested on second machine that aslo use Windows 7 SP1 x64 and it's completely same behavior, i aslo tested via virtual machine on clean installation.

Only thing i not test is on retail Windows 7, maybe is that key? i use OEM Win7 x64 Home Basic, and other PC is aslo OEM Proffesional Win 7 x64. Maybe OEM have higher restrictions, it's hardly to believe, but maybe.

I aslo maybe not mentioned my Xonar is DX

That would be awesome! But I don't think it's quite possible... :S

Excellent drivers! Using 1.30 version with no problems at all

So I've just bought a Xonar DG, and come across this site... I'm yet to receive it, and after attempting to read this site I'm pretty confused about it all (I presumed it'd all run perfect out of the box), and I'm basically wanting to know what I'm supposed to do, and not do, to get the best out of the card.
Any help would be greeeatly appreciated.

At the end of the installation, I have the option the 3 options Check this if you have.. I have a DX, I was wondering if I have to check the D1 box as the DX is the PCI-X version of D1. Thanks for the driver !

Hey there, just wanted to pop to say thanks for your efforts. Nice to see you dedicating yourself in to this project and really doing some updating. I personally can't believe that ASUS chooses to do nothing and practically commiting a PR-suicide on their otherwise fine productline of audiocards. Anyway who needs the mothership when we have dedication, love from outstanding individuals as yourself. Keep up the good work.

Just download this driver and install it, i recommend installing with the c-media panel, much cleaner than the asus one, enjoy 😉

I agree with what bacardi said. I would also want to add you should read the Xonar manual to familiarize yourself with the options, a important tip would be not to change the Output Sample Rate, especially to 96 or 192 KHz, which seems to be common mistake to new owners. In this case higher doesn't always mean better.

    Hi there,

I am getting the issue with the unsigned drivers. However, the only one that is unsigned when I installed both 6 & 7 is the cmudaxp.sys driver. Hope that narrows it down, if at all.

    Cheers.

I have just formatted again and I can confirm that this is exactly what is happening (C-media + ASIO patch will not work, while C-media panel only will without any problems at all).

But normal installation and without asio patch does work for you?

If not, please test the new test builds(6&7) I uploaded and complete the form.

Before that, how do you remove completely the drivers? With Driversweeper? I'll give you all the possible testing you need on a windows 7 computer.

And, other than accepting the unsigned drivers, is there anything else that is guaranteed to work? (As in, ASIO in all applications, or what not)?

        • CarvedInside21 Apr 2011 @ 13:22

From now on you don't actually have to use Driversweeper for cleaning the Asus drivers, just uninstall, reboot and install latest version.

I'm not sure I understood your last question. Drivers are still required to work for ASIO to work.

So, from "Uninstall a program", and it should work?

What I mean is: If you install a panel with GX, GX should work, right? If you install the ASIO patch, you should be able to hear other applications, along with the one using ASIO output, right? There is no mentioning of KS, right?

I'll install builds 6&7 with all the possible options and I'll let you know.

So far, installing c-media (GX on) + ASIO patch will result in no sound. If I use DSEO (enable test mode, and sign cmudaxp.sys located at c:windowssystem32drivers), it will work, but even then, I'm not really sure how functional the driver is (considering the previous questions).

Well its a test build, so it might or not work.

Panel with GX, GX works as always. But ASIO patch I don't know. As I previously said, I believe there is something wrong on your side(settings wise) as Kernel Streaming is and working just like always meaning you can still hear other sounds from other applications.

This builds are targeted at Xonars couldn't be enabled and function because missing driver signature and thats without using DSEO.

So for C-Media cards in general, are all EQ settings stored in the Cmicnfgp.ini file in C:windowssystem folder? I hate uninstalling my X-Meridian 2G and then having to reinstall and re-do my presets.

@Carved, can you do something about? i really love ASIO patch how work

Have you tried applying installing with ASIO patch on top of the "default" installation?
This is like I said in the 1.30 driver release notes:
In order to install the driver with “Asio 1.0 Patch” option, you need to do a first install without this option checked and after that do a reinstall over this with “Asio 1.0 Patch” checked , otherwise you will get “driver unsigned error”
