madVR clearly has the best PQ to offer out there. no need for any x64 stuff then

    Virus :
I do not use MadVR because it lack of x64 version (I use mpc-hc x64). Also IQ is not much better on Halli renderer/MadVR than
EVR. On good material like HD 720/1080p is almost not noticeable. Better IQ may be noticed on more static scenes in lower quality movies. MPC-HC also support 10bit and full floating point image processing with EVR output.
Also, credits goes to CarvedInside. I’m only created new installer, and few utilities for this project.

Yes, but I prefer native solutions, ie. if I use x64 system I like to use native x64 apps.
Also MadVR is not a solution for me because is NOT media foundation filter ? (or is it now ?), and DirectShow is deprecated.
Also Windows 8 will be only x64 (but with WOW64) and possible DirectShow will be removed, replaced completely by media foundation. So if original author will not fix all bug and not provide support for x64, it will die in time, because is not open-source.
Loosing 1~2% of PQ is for me not a problem, on HQ HD movies is not noticeable for human eye. High DPC latency and above problems are real problems.

I used haali and EVR before and I can say that it definately is noticeable (even on a 1360x768 TV for me). especially the difference in colour

I don't know how many other people ran into this but these drivers seemed to have an issue with balance that the ASUS drivers don't. When I use my headphones the right side is noticeably more quiet than the left. Adjusting the balance in windows didn't seem to help the issue. It also occurred on the desktop speakers but was harder to notice because of the surround upmix, I guess.

I've switched back to the ASUS drivers for now but liked the work done with these.

I'm using a Xonar DX card.

I have a DX card and didn't notice this on on headphones or speakers. This is really strange as no modification was made to possibly affect this. What Asus driver are you using? And which OS do you have?

Actually, since posting this I've experience the same thing with the Asus drivers as well. I think it might be related to having to stop/start the audio service for Windows to free up the output for ASIO (I don't use digital) in FL Studio. But I don't recall doing this while using these drivers.

I haven't done extensive testing to see if it effects the front panel or anything higher than "headphone" output (4, 5.1, 7.1). I believe this only occurred on the headphone and 2 speakers settings.

Current Asus driver version: 7.12.8.1794, ASIO: 2.0.0.07 with DirectX 11. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Many thanks for ur driver installer Virus! works flawlessly so far. Would it maybe in a later installer possible again to install both of the panels and use C-Media as standard but also the possibility to use the Asus sound panel when needed?

Hello, I'm running Windows 7 x64, using the UNi Xonar drivers of course. low DPC latency mode, and I'm having a bit of a problem with my Essence ST. Connecting my headphones through the RCA out. Other than that I only have a microphone connected to the card.

The problem is, sometimes, at random, (it happened three times in the span of like 3 months), the sound card/headphones will play a really loud, high frequency noise. Kind of like a beep; it's not what feedback loop sounds like.

I tried rolling back to an earlier version of the drivers a couple of weeks back. but it happened again just a few days ago. Any idea what might be causing this?

I don't know what the problem is. Try and see if you get the same thing with onboard audio card . If I remember correctly no one reported this, the only thing that might be close to this is here , check bing post from this page. I don't know this for sure but xonar might have a hardware problem

Some thing that might be of help, if you haven't done so: update windows , install all the latest drivers , update bios to the latest version.

It would be awesome if theres an option to force the ASUS Xonar DX Audio Center to a certain language instead of based on the locale it is currently on. For some reason it as issues with Simplified Chinese fonts becoming gibberish and I much rather have English GUI while retaining Chinese locale. As of right now I have to close it every time at boot and reopen it w/ Applocale.

Audio Center should fallback to english when can not find lang files.
So delete proper AsusAudioCenterResXXX.dll (XXX is 3 letter lang code, ie: enu) form Audio Center is permanent solution.
If this does not work, try to copy english file to other name ie: AsusAudioCenterResEnu.dll -> AsusAudioCenterResChs.dll.

Deleting it resulted in blank strings, renaming the English resource dll to the Simplified Chinese one worked. Thanks a lot! I can't believe I never noticed those files before =O

I just noticed it isn't even a DLL, it is a plain text... Why did they put a dll extension to it... I checked the strings, seems to be fine so I guess its the font the app uses that could be missing the characters.

Same in installer. CmSetx.dll and CmiSetupConfig.dll are plain text files... I do not know way those files are named as DLL, it's C-Media/Asus way for doing things ...

Question: if I want EAX emulation available in supported games I must install C-Media version with GX enabled? In that way, GX ( EAX emulation) would be running only when Xear3D is enabled?

But this emulation is a marketing crap only ...

    • Virus04 Sep 2011 @ 14:26

Also note, that GX version will run HSMgr.exe in background. This is a COM based app that will inject HsSvr.dll to all processes!

HsSvr.dll code is written by C-Media/ASUS monkey so is really not stable !
I used some my skills is debugging apps that I get running my x360ce project (click my nick) to check what this is doing and it's a terrible mistake for me. This is not doing almost any emulation, it only forces EAX4/5 using some API hooks, like in my project, but more less stable...

Real EAX emulation is only in Creative Alchemy.

"my project"? Are you working on some alternative to GX/Xear3D?

No, x360ce is a xbox 360 controller emulator (ie. xinput to directinput wrapper). But is using some API hooking stuff.
Now project use a MIT licensed "Cross-platform x86-64 detours" from here: http://www.gamedeception.net/threads/21965-Cross-... .

The idea of API detouring/hooking methods was created by Microsoft: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/deto...

HsSvr.dll seem to do not use any library. It use VirtualProtect and WriteProcessMemory to write some data to app. This is good, but not very safe, it do not use any disassembler to check what to replace.

GX/Xear3D crashes apps that do not check is effect was properly created and use it, because some effect will fail to create. EAX and EAX2 is safe to use, but EAX3 and newer, not. Most games will check this so it not crash but it do not work as expected (like STALKER, is terrible broken).

Just a quick question, but do these drivers allow you to use Dolby Headphones through the RCA jacks? I'm planning on picking up an external amp and I don't want to shell out for a mixamp when I already have a Dolby card. If not does anyone know how to tweak the drivers to have Dolby an option with the RCA jacks?

Does the Uni Xonar driver fix the line-in / mic recording latency issue that Asus seem incapable of fixing?

Question, do i install current Asus driver 7046 and then install Uni Xonar driver 1794 v1.41 or do i only install Uni Xonar 1794 v1.41, should the driver date be 3/10/2011 in device manager?

Is there anyway to... have the SPDIF output, and analog output, on 2 seperate outputs? (so I can play game audio though SPDIF, and TeamSpeak through analog)

You can connect SPDIF from your motherboard to your receiver and set manually in your favorite player (foobar for example) to use the digital out. You sould set as default your xonar card in windows ir order to get 2 diferent simultaneous sounds.
    Sorry for my english.

Follow up, after uninstalling Asus drivers, it seems i had to install Uni xonar drivers twice to get it to work, one before and after reboot same selection, not sure if this is standard procedure, Window 7 x64.
