This was my final try to get the Xonar DG to work correctly. I've done clean installs of my OS (Windows 7 Pro x64). Disabled the onboard sound in BIOS, run Driver Sweeper to clean the leftover old drivers, made sure all my sound settings were correct, and now I've tried the Unified Drivers. The sound works perfectly, but the mic does not work unless I plug into the front panel (and yes, I know that I should change from FP Headphones to just Headphones).
Gotta return this and move on to greener pastures I guess.
roli06 Dec 2011 @ 20:21
how to swicth to 64ohm mode under C-media panel on a xonar dg?
CarvedInside07 Dec 2011 @ 15:07
That option is missing from C-Media Panel, and the only way to activate it is to launch Xonar Audio Center (Start->All Programs -> Uni Xonar Driver) and change it from there.

More opinion about the audio quality in Windows 7 x64 ? Install this or keep the 1794 ? More feedback, please !
Gendji07 Dec 2011 @ 00:30
Maybe a weird question but i installed 1.41 (normal mode) which is working fine, but how do i know if ASIO works or not? I can right click the audio icon and choose Asus Xonar ASIO, which has an Latency option (bith-depth is greyed out) but i have no idea if that means that ASIO is on automatically or something 🙂
CarvedInside07 Dec 2011 @ 15:10
For ASIO to work you have to select it in Playback (Audio) Output in the Audio player, instead of Direct Sound (default). Not all players have ASIO support, for Foobar you need to also download the ASIO plugin.

Hello,
I have just buy a Xonar DS and it's not able to automaticly switch beetwen my headset and my speakers when i plug in to the front panel!
Can this driver fix this issue ???
Thx
CarvedInside07 Dec 2011 @ 15:12
Sadly, no. Sorry.
steve8807 Dec 2011 @ 15:55
Fuck. It's my first sound card and i love asus but it realy desapointed me with this (if i did not found any solution, i go to my resealer and switch with the enemie...)
Please, i really switch a lot between the headset and the speakers, have you any solution ?
Thx again
hunterz007 Dec 2011 @ 21:35
Can't you choose via the Asus or C-Media control panel whether or not to use the headset? I would think it would be nice that you can leave the headset always plugged in.
Personally I have speakers that come with a headphone jack, and if I plug in headphones it will use those instead of the speakers.
test08 Dec 2011 @ 10:37
Yes of course i can! But with my motherboard it did it automaticly (now i have to do it manualy WTF)
And yes of course i can plug it in my speakers jack but i only use 5.1 sound (both in games and bluray's) so if i plug the headset in the speakers jack i do not have all the sounds in the headset it is impossible to enjoy what you hear.
Thx for your reply
hunterz008 Dec 2011 @ 17:32
My speakers use HRTF algorithms to downmix 5.1 to a sort of virtual-surround headphone stereo when headphones are plugged in. It's not much better than pure stereo, but it's good enough to not have to worry about switching modes in most cases. You can test if your speakers do this by plugging headphones into them and then using the Asus/C-Media control panel's speaker test; if you hear sounds in the headphones for the center and rear speakers then it is downmixing for you.
Also, even if the Xonar could automatically switch, you still wouldn't be able to do it properly while a game or bluray is running because programs generally lock in their internal 5.1 speaker setting while they are running. You'd likely get the same effect as plugging into the headphone jack of your speakers. This means that you'd have to visit the Asus/C-Media control panel anyways to change the speaker setting to stereo, so the extra step of switching to front panel isn't a big deal.

Hi,
Well i found a solution that's ok for me, i switch audio with this program http://blog.contriving.net/2009/05/04/a-hotkey-to...
The only problem is that windows does not understant that in the front panel there is a headset plug in. So i plug the HD front panel cable back into the motherboard and now windows understant there is a headset plug in and i'm now able to switch between headset and speakers very quickly!
The only issu is that the headset is not plu in the Xonar anymore and dos not benefit of it.
To sum um i'm pretty desapointed of the Xonar DS.
Anyway thx for you time (and if you have an idea for how to make windows aware that it is a headset plug in the front panel with the Xonar cable i will be thankfull)
test09 Dec 2011 @ 11:56
It may be the issue with missing option with Cmedia audio panel option ?
I will try the front panel switcher v3 option file when i get back home...
Symus08 Dec 2011 @ 17:49
Here i am again.
With infra bass , i mean, very low frequency.
i don't know why this happen with Unified Drivers, but this is clearly not placebo.
i tested this with transformers3, Harry potter 7.2 , music too.
i have a Z 5500 Logitech. on W 7. Totalmedia theatre 5 for movies, and Foobar 2000 Asio for Music
in both cases ( Original driver or Unified) , my settings don't change. i always chose the same.
All dsp disable, analog out 5.1, Flex bass disabled.
but the difference is noticable. not in every kind of content. but when it comes with bass rendering, there is something more, with unified driver. but is that closer to the intention of the director/musician? or further? i don't know.
CarvedInside10 Dec 2011 @ 19:40
Maybe speaker delay had something to do with how the bass was before, stretching it a bit.If thats the case, I would say that because of the disabled speaker delay, what you head with UNi Xonar is more correct.
Maybe its worth checking how it sounds with your onboard soundcard, or/and setting to 2.0 sound and comparing it this way Asus vs UNi drivers, so speaker delay isn't in the way.
Keep us updated if you find anything.
Axaion08 Dec 2011 @ 22:49
1.50 exp1 installs fine for me (running test mode 24/7, dont see a reason to disable it.)
However, I still cannot open the C-media control panel, or get any sound, with the error the the file is not signed, what gives?
I guess we need to use dseo to sign a system file, but which?
CarvedInside10 Dec 2011 @ 19:28
"Still cannot" or just "cannot"?:)
Like others reported this method seems to work.Don;t know why it isn't working for you 🙁
Try launching the uni installer as administrator, and select only C-Media Control Panel.
Are you using UAC enabled? Disable it for the installation.
Try signing C:WindowsSystem32driverscmudaxp.sys

Hi, i just found my left and right are inverted, what should i do?
CarvedInside10 Dec 2011 @ 19:30
Don't know how this could happen. Try reinstalling and make sure the speakers(or connections) aren't in fact inverted.
Elco, Netherlands16 Dec 2011 @ 01:06
1.51 was working fine yesterday but after a computer reboot driver signing seems to fail.
I'm running test mode but decive manager says driver cant be signed. Tried to reinstall it but nothing seems to work. I'm going to try v1.41.
CarvedInside18 Dec 2011 @ 12:45
This is weird. You mean 1.50 not 1.51. Things you should try: make sure you uninstall the drivers, run enable test mode (again), restart, and try installing the 1.50 driver (with run as administrator).
Elco, Netherlands20 Dec 2011 @ 18:01
Didn't work. Too bad. I'm on 1.4 drivers now.
ssd21 Dec 2011 @ 06:20
turn your headphones around...
Elco, Netherlands15 Dec 2011 @ 02:09
Hi,
Great driver you have there. I'm using 1.50 experimental build 1 on Windows 7 x64.
I thought I only had to enable test mode to install the driver and disable it afterwards but apparently you have to keep test mode enabled! Maybe you should include that in the instructions.
Also I was wondering what ''GX'' exactly is. I just installed c-media control panel + GX. Would that be the best settings for Xonar D2? I only use stereo.
Do you know which sample rate would be the best? Right now I'm using 44.1 KHz, 16 bit.
Espionage72415 Dec 2011 @ 13:57
GX is a EAX emulator (I believe). It's best to leave it off however when your not intentionally using it (it causes me latency issues and sound glitching in a few games that don't support EAX)
Eric Djemba Djemba15 Dec 2011 @ 19:40
1.50 beta's need a little work I think. Lost all audio in Battlefield 3... rolled back to the previous drivers 🙂
CarvedInside18 Dec 2011 @ 12:43
There is a change the problem was from battlefield 3, as I have read that there are a lot of issues with sound in BF3.
Luis Mamani16 Dec 2011 @ 04:09
Hello, I have a recommendation about the C-Media panel of Uni Xonar driver: if is possible, you should add to C-media panel the Smart Volume (SVN) and Front Panel Headphones options ... With this options, the panel will be complete. The C-media panel is a good alternative for control ASUS Xonar Hardware than original Asus Xonar Panel. Please, excuse me for my english expressions if there is bad syntaxis in this message, I'm argentinian hahahaha! That's All I think. Good Luck and regards!
CarvedInside18 Dec 2011 @ 12:48
Sorry to say this, but I can't do this in C-Media Panel. Thx.
reavpeals16 Dec 2011 @ 18:56
I have an Essence STX and installed the C-Media version of the 1.50 driver, but I cant seem to find the amplifier settings from the original drivers? Where do I find them?
CarvedInside18 Dec 2011 @ 12:52
There aren't any.
You can enable them through (Asus) Xonar Audio Center that you can launch from Start-> All Programs -> UNi Xonar Audio.
bat417 Dec 2011 @ 23:28
Salut Carved!
All Asus Xonar cards have a SPDIF INPUT pin. For example Xonar DS has J5, Xonar DX has JP2, Xonar ST has J14. The config is:
GND nothing V+ SPDIFIN
I can use the SPDIF INPUT under Ubuntu.
Can you hack the windows driver to enable the SPDIF INPUT?
Thanks.
CarvedInside18 Dec 2011 @ 12:59
I'm not sure I can. But I will look into it.
Sorry I have missed your first post regarding this.
Kado19 Dec 2011 @ 06:22
I'm having the following issue recently.
Bsically GX no longer works. I use winamp with wumpus openal output plug in that lists the sound card as "Generic Hardware on Speakers (Asus Xonar D2X audio device)" meaning that it's working but now only "software" exists instead of "hardware" listed (gives only front audio) or it gives an error saying "could not initiazile openal" while opening winamp (gives no audio at all using openal).
tried reinstalling the drivers with no sucess and fresh windows installs work for a while but eventually return to the same state... used to work fine. and it's not related to these experimental drivers...
I would appreciate some help.
