hello i have a small question
will your driver fix the high pitched sound bug ?
for people who don't know what it is:
the xonar st and stx create randomly a high pitched noise over the headphone output
it can happen once in a month or several times in a week
asus won't fix it

Hi, I just purchased Xonar DG and finding audio problems, and found this thread. It's great to see someone who has gone the extra mile to fix someone else's problem on these Xonar drivers.
Though, I wonder if there are installation instructions how to install the Unified driver? Or a link to the instructions?
Like, do I need to completely uninstall the Asus driver *before* installing the Unified driver? Or I can just run the Unified driver installation app and install *over* the existing Asus driver?
I tried first running the Unified driver install program over the existing Asus driver first, but going into Device Manager afterward I saw no difference in the driver version. Then I went into 'Programs and Features' and uninstalled the Xonar driver altogether. And I followed the troubleshooting instructions and installed Driver Sweeper to remove all the driver files and register entries.
I then manually removed any remaining Asus-related files under Windows/system folder so to ensure the system was clear of any Asus files.
Then I ran the Unified driver program again. After I restarted, I still saw the Asus driver version in Device Manager, although the Xonar panel was gone so I could not make any sound setup at all.
Windows also complained that system/syswow64/Cmicnfgp.dll was not found on startup.
Although, there is sound, and I don't hear the audio problems like before (popping noises in audio), so it seems there is a change in the sound output.
I am a bit lost now.
How do I know the Unified driver has been installed?
Should the DriverSweeper not have removed any cmicn* files?
How do I install the Xonar panel back? Is there another install program available so I can install the Xonar panel I lost?
FYI -- I have Windows 7 64-bit on my system.
Thx.

Hello!
I didn't say that i needed to use external software or was unable to make the card (hardware) play in 4.0 etc., but that i prefer to have full control of the audio setup for different programs. I use winamp + wumpus for openal and 4.0 audio output because openal passes windows audio mixer leaving sound intact (read below) and having stereo surround similar to the "Stereo Surround" option in creative's software.
However if i used creative's option then every stereo sound would become "surround" and that's not my need. also i use mpc+ffdshow to output audio in different flavors:
source direct if source audio is 5.1,
5.1 for stereo audio in animes etc,
4.0 for stereo music.
In the end my need was to for the sound card to output the audio the same way the card was fed, without any up our downmixing from the card's software and all controlled by other software. besides, the resampling engine on the audigy's was pretty bad, every audio except for 48khz was resampled to 48khz for processing (with the bad resampling algorithm) if you used eq or other effects from creative's software. openal bypassed all that (pure unadulterated audio:) )
Regarding the Dolby stuff... Can't really help as I don't have a Dolby decoder but I remember that the A2ZS had a built in hardware dolby decoder for AC3 streams etc.
My setup is the good analog 5.1 on a D2X! 😛
Cheers!

@Kado
Hi and thanks for the reply. Could you post your system setup and DPC latency with D2X?
I have the small system where my onboard Realtek Audio (ALC892) measures 200 us for all audio activity, however Asus DX jumps above 450 us when I start playing anything. No drivers showed the difference. However, I haven't tried ASIO yet.
Kado12 Mar 2012 @ 23:50
Hello!
Specs here: http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u421/KadoPT/specs.png
DPC Latency was ranging from 230 to 460us with an average of 380us with winamp playing using openal but with directsound was the same.
Cheers.
Minda13 Mar 2012 @ 12:36
Not really low DPC Latency for such a fast system. Any ideas, how to interpret or achieve the announced DPC Latency of ~80 us?
Kado14 Mar 2012 @ 03:27
Have you tried the low latency mode drivers?
Quote from: "The case of DPC latency (Part 1)"
"The worst part is that those audio/video dropouts will occur regardless if you have a P4 2.4 GHz single core processor or a quad core Core i7 and bad coded drivers are at fault for high or very high DPC latencies."

I am using the C media driver. Is EX Xear 3D basically dolbyheadphone?

Hey Carved 32Bit systems are x86 not x84 😉

This is AMAZING!
thank you so very much. There was no way to get speaker fill to work on the stock CP and knew i spent hours trying each setting in that thing to get speaker fill to work and i knew from then on it was just an Asus thing. Almost gave up hope and stumbled upon this and am just amazed. Speaker fill just works and works wonders on Flac through my 5.1 Turtle Beach HPA2 headset.
Thanks again!

Trying to install latest version I get to a point that I get a window that asks me to "please plug-in UNi Xonar Audio Device!".

Thanks allot for making this driver mod, it solved my 5.1 stereo upmixing.
Here's an issue I've been having before and after installing the mod: When playing the 'Start Navigation' sound when web browsing, it will usually cut off; doesn't fully play. When changing the sound in the 'Sounds' menu to say another theme, it will usually play it. Changing to and from the original helps. Anyone have any information on that?

Heya!
Got some issues with my Xonar Xense...the unified driver doesn't work for me. I get no sound, regardless the settings...also, I can't hear any relays click. 😛
It works fine with the regular drivers, though. Any suggestions?

Few days ago I installed drivers for a HP Laserjet 2200 and guess what? The ASUS Xonar driver stopped working, It didn't even detect my Essence ST, spent a day trying to get it to work but no success. So I uninstalled the official drivers and loaded these Unified and now it works as it should, no problems at all.
So thank you very much for this driver, it's funny how such a big company can't even make a lousy driver bug free!

Hi, I've been using Xonar DX for the past 6 months and I've been using the official driver version 1794. I'm using Logitech Z623 2.1 with this soundcard.
While I'm satisfied with the official driver I do however notice some peculiar things with my audio, which I'm not sure is the soundcard driver's fault or the speaker's fault, but anyway , sometimes my left speaker will be much louder than my right satellite speaker, and restarting windows 7-64 bit usually solves the problem.
So, I happened to come across this site and now I've using the latest uni driver and I think I actually find that it appears to be sounding much better than it does with the orginal driver! And so far I haven't faced the above issues yet.
Keep up the good work. I also love the new icon, definitely a refreshing one from the orginal! Thank you.
