The 1.0 driver has clearer sound than the 1.5 drivers. Also I didnt have to enable test mode to install the driver.
steve30x20 Apr 2012 @ 10:19
The 1.60 driver has a very nice clear and crisp sound. It sounds a bit better than the 1.5x drivers. Also I didnt need to enable test mode to install the driver. I totally uninstalled 1.53 with YourUninstaller in super mode and Driver sweeper before installing 1.60.
Thanks for this update.
Joe20 Apr 2012 @ 10:50
I haven't understood.
These new drivers 1800 can be used with D1?
CarvedInside20 Apr 2012 @ 18:53
Yes it will, this is if you haven't had problems installing UNi Xonar drivers before.
Michael Yurkus20 Apr 2012 @ 13:40
I stopped using this after 1.42 and went back to the standard Xonar HDAV Center [control panel] because of the driving signing issues. (I do NOT want to run everything in Test Mode just because of a driver with a couple more features than the original.)
Quite simply, does this 1.60 release finally solve this problem? (I would love to hop back on this, I miss it - but I do application engineering work on my computer (including a DB server, Visual Studio compilers, etc....running in test mode is simply not an option for me.)
I'm using Windows 7 x64.
Thanks much for your work! I know this problem must be really aggravating...

If you have 64bit Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate or Enterprise you can use the registry trick (look my previous comments) that changes Driver Signing policy and disables digital signature checks. You don't have to use test mode. At least it works for me.
CarvedInside20 Apr 2012 @ 18:58
I understand what you are saying.I would go with no, it won't probably work given that you had problems installing before. Sorry can't do more regarding this.
Now you can still try, but make sure you uncheck "Digital signature bypass” in the UNi installer.
boogarn20 Apr 2012 @ 16:04
Don't know about 1.60 but I've been using 1.51 without any driver signing issues or having to use test mode. Win 7 64 Home.
steve30x20 Apr 2012 @ 17:29
Looks like some people didnt read what I said> I didnt have to enable test mode to install this driver and I am usibng windows 7 X64. Also windows 8 compatability is'nt the only change. The sound is better too.
CarvedInside20 Apr 2012 @ 19:06
To whom are you referring to? As I said, it will work for some but I am pretty sure it won't work for all (without testmode).
Please give some details about improved windows 8 compatibility.
otsego20 Apr 2012 @ 17:45
Installed the new drivers in test mode, all well, audio in place, no issues with install. HOWEVER, when trying to launch the Xonar Audio Center I only get an error message "Hata Region Unload", twice, with the only option being "OK". Afterwards the ASUS Xonar Center does not open and the icon in the system tray is red. Is this a known bug? I need to enter the ASUS Center to enable headphone gain as I have a HD 650. C-Medias center works fine. Installed the C-Media edition with GX.
CarvedInside20 Apr 2012 @ 19:01
Haven't had that error. Please provide some details OS , your xonar card, any options you might have check in the installer.
Try uninstalling the drivers and install them again.
otsego20 Apr 2012 @ 19:04
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1, ASUS Xonar Essence STX, chose C-Media Control Panel with GX in installer, clean install, silent install and test mode. Tried uninstalling, running Driver Sweeper (removing any left-over drivers) and CCleaner (registry), with reboots in between. Reverted back to 1.53, no issues.
Xander21 Apr 2012 @ 05:26
Yes. This error “Hata Region Unload”. Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1, ASUS Xonar Essence ST, chose Low DPC Latency, clean install, silent install and test mode. Uninstalling Driver Sweeper and cleaning registry.
Installing C-Media center, there is no error, but there is a problem switching (headphone - 2speakers, 2speakers - headphone not working). Reverted back to 1.53.
MasterFaster20 Apr 2012 @ 20:32
@CarvedInside, can you please delete all my posts about this regkey?
It seems that this key is not the reason either why we can install the Uni Xonar 1.60
So to avoid confusing all people, maybe my posts about this regkey should be removed
I'm sorry, my mistake.
XXX20 Apr 2012 @ 21:42
Switched from 1.41, everything works fine without errors. Sounds greater too.
Windows 7 x64 SP1, Xonar DG
Alex20 Apr 2012 @ 21:48
Same as ostego here, "hata region unload". I only get it with the latest drivers. 53 works fine. Could you look into that error CarvedIns?
badsykes20 Apr 2012 @ 22:47
Same problem with "hata: Unload Region"...
qaz20 Apr 2012 @ 23:47
This is getting stupid. And CarvedIns, you are someone to blame for this too. Again, THERE IS NO NEED FOR TEST MODE. All our drivers are properly signed, latest even WHQL-signed. We just don't have right .inf, but it doesn't matter for the driver itself.
If you so want silent problem free install for all people – I gave you solution already. (But please make it optional as I don't want extra .cat in my system when it works perfectly fine with unsigned .inf for me and many others).
Also, this installer still fails to completely remove older versions – I had to do it manually again.
MasterFaster21 Apr 2012 @ 00:54
If you read mine and CarvedInside's comments, we both can install the driver without any warning in Win7 x64. steve30x also was able to install it successfully in his Win7 x64 system. The problem is that some users may not be able to install it successfully, like we do.
Unfortunately I don't know how the driver signing works in Windows 7. Whenever I have time I will try to investigate this matter and to learn more about it.
qaz21 Apr 2012 @ 13:08
If you'd read mine comments some pages ago you'll see that I explained clean workaround solution that very likely would work for all users.
MasterFaster21 Apr 2012 @ 16:37
Thanks qaz, now I understand. The .inf file doesn't matter, as long the .sys and .dll files are signed (you have the correct .cat).
In this case the 1800 driver should be installed in all Win7 x64 systems without the test mode. That's why my modified driver was installed successfully without nags.
Thanks again for the explanation. I appreciate it.

Hi guys. I'm getting a seriously strange problem with my Xonar DG card. My analogue speaker channels are randomly swapping around with no rhyme or reason.
If I do a speaker test in Xonar audio panel, one minute the left channel is coming out of the centre, the right channel out of the sub etc, next test they have all changed around again, Nothing else has been changed in-between tests.
I have tried reseating the card in three different slots, no change, I have also tried various drivers, no change.
I found a thread on Guru3d with a guy who had a slightly different card, the DX, but who was having exactly the same problem. http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=337737
@ CarvedInside, you actually posted on that thread and advised using a particular XP driver for his DX and he said it worked!
I don't suppose you or anyone else has a clue what's going on here? Or what driver I might try to fix this? It is driving me nuts!!!
Nuno21 Apr 2012 @ 01:48
I've just installed sucessfully the 1.60 drivers on my Win 7 x64. I unchecked the bypass digital signature and am I not using the test mode. I have UAC disabled too.
iron200021 Apr 2012 @ 11:28
Took me 3 runs of the installer this time to get it to install properly.
Started with uninstalling and proceed to safe mode for Driver Sweeper.
Seems like everytime I mess with drivers my PC will either hang at 'shutting down... or start up with the monitor blank and I'll have to do a 'blind' restart.
Back to Win7, first run of installer.
Set to C-Media with GX, other left as default.
Installer ended, yellow exclamation mark at Device Manager.
Some (the?) digital signature problem.
Reboot, second installer run.
Set to C-Media with GX, uncheck silent and uncheck bypass signature check.
Somehow the driver got installed, no yellow exclamation mark at Device Manager.
Reboot, third installer run.
Set to C-Media with GX, uncheck silent, uncheck remove previous versions and uncheck bypass signature check.
Everything in!
Running Win7 SP1 x64.
iron200021 Apr 2012 @ 11:36
Left out one point.
The second run is somewhat a long run and I force exit the installer, therefore it seems that though the driver got in but the C-Media panel is not perhaps completely installed?
The third run installed everything.
And the installer is always run as admin.
kadopt21 Apr 2012 @ 14:49
My v1.60 installation:
Did not uninstall v1.50exp,
unticked "bypass sig",
used normal installation,
rebooted and hanged on boot,
hard reset solved the situation.
It's working as it should.
Someone has the changelog?
W7 x64 Ultimate SP1 (test mode on), D2X.
MasterFaster21 Apr 2012 @ 17:56
Try it without test mode and tell us if it works ok
