From the official 1794 driver in Windows XP

No audio channels option. Xonar works like the on-board audio without changing audio channels.
steve30x25 Apr 2012 @ 17:25
As I said. I did'nt realise you meant windows XP version.

I'm having a bit of trouble with the 1.60 drivers. I'm on Windows 7 x64 Pro, and they worked great for about three days. Then, I went over to my friend's house, where I was forced to use HDMI for audio. Ever since getting back, I cannot get any sound through my speakers. If I plug them into the headphone port via a 1/4" adapter, they work fine, so I know it's not a cord or speaker problem. No matter what options I select in the UNI driver or in the Sound control panel, all of my audio goes through the headphone port. I can, of course, unplug my phones and plug in my speakers, but I would like to be able to switch easily between them via the driver, like I did before HDMI seemingly broke my sound. Any advice?
CarvedInside27 Apr 2012 @ 20:42
Which card do you have? Are you using HDMI port from the video card? Have you tried a driver uninstall and install them again?
Braden Chancellor28 Apr 2012 @ 09:26
Derp, I forgot to tell you my sound card. I've got an Essence STX, and I'm using the HDMI port on my HD 6870 (I have two in CrossFire if that matters). I'm trying the reinstall tomorrow.
majinsnake27 Apr 2012 @ 17:47
After 15-20 system reboots of trying to figure out how to install properly, I finally managed to get these installed correctly. In device manager, right-click the asus xonar card and click update driver. Point that update to the Asus driver files or Asus folder. Yes you have to install the Asus driver for the card itself. The unified driver is for the application and whatever else.
Reboot. Install the ASUS XONAR Unified Drivers, and uncheck the setting "Run driver cleaning before install". Check all other options if you wish. Reboot.
Install complete.
This wasn't even mentioned in the damn FAQ. Such a pain in the butt to install and figure out. That whole FAQ needs an update. I am using the Asus Xonar DX soundcard.
Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit.
CarvedInside27 Apr 2012 @ 20:53
Well, this is not intended and I'm sorry for this. UNi Xonar drivers are intended to be standalone. There are various resons why this happens. Either your system refuses to install partially signed drivers or something else is the problem. There is a topic regarding installation problems here.
I'm not sure the UNi drivers installed correctly the way you did so check in Device Manager and check the driver version in you Xonar sound card properties. If the drivers installed correctly it should be 7.12.8.1800.

It installed right. Check my screenshot above. Sorry for me being blunt. I appreciate what you are trying to accomplish.
majinsnake28 Apr 2012 @ 14:33
Maybe you can help me get my Microphone back to working properly. A Logitech headset. I just re-installed the Uni Xonar Audio with the GX Enabled/C-media panel combo... instead of the Low latency Option as last-time. I use TeamSpeak voice chat for when I play games online. Right now, one user says my microphone sounds like I am talking in a Tin-can. Now I didn't have this much of a problem with Onboard audio. I admit it is a cheap microphone, but it sounded a little better with the Onboard audio.
CarvedInside28 Apr 2012 @ 15:33
Check to see if you don't have enabled by mistake the Microphone Effects in Karaoke/MagicVoce options tab in Cmedia Panel. Check so that the Microphone is selected in Recoding settings and not Line in. You can try check settings in TeamSpeak so input its properly set.
Try disabling GX , in Cmedia Panel its Xear3d button. If you can't make it work, maybe its better to reinstall.
majinsnake29 Apr 2012 @ 14:16
Reading a review on New-egg. New-egg is where I had purchase the Xonar DX. These drivers were the regular ASUS/C-media drivers. I will try what you had stated though.
"The drivers don't allow for much configuration, especially for the mic. Plus, the mic volume is EXTREMELY low. This is a documented problem on their forums and there isn't a fix for it. I use Skype and Ventrilo and I have to boost my mic as much as possible just so other people can hear me, which they still just barely do."
MasterFaster28 Apr 2012 @ 16:25
Something else that happened with the 1800 driver. I was watching tv (I have a DVB-T tuner) today and at some point the system froze. I don't know if this is related to the 1800 driver, but it never happened before. I will revert to 1794 driver for safety.
MasterFaster29 Apr 2012 @ 14:09
Nope, it wasn't 1800 driver's fault. It seems that I have another problem.
CarvedInside01 May 2012 @ 00:10
They seems pretty stable. Anyway if you are having trouble finding the problem, if its not software related my first guest would be that the PSU its at fault. Good luck solving the problem.
Martinus28 Apr 2012 @ 16:29
Installed driver 1.61 for my Xonar D2X and its working on Win7 x64. Just overinstalled it over 1.53 and they work instantly without reboot.
Thanks for your hard work
Barnacle Bill29 Apr 2012 @ 18:33
I have the Xonar DX. With the 1.60 drivers, I no longer see FP Headphone (front panel) in the list of analog output choices. Before I upgraded just now, it was in the old audio control center interface.
matt30 Apr 2012 @ 22:07
Sorry I just put this down low as a response to something else. I meant to put it up top.
I have been having troubles with the normal drivers and I was thinking about installing these. It looks like it might be kind of a hassle with windows 7 though. Before I try I was wondering if these drivers had addressed the issue I’m having with the normal drivers.
Here are some of my computer specs
ASUS Xonar D1 Sound Card
ASUS P8Z68-V LE ATX Intel Motherboard
EVGA GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi)
SAMSUNG 830 Series MZ-7PC256D SSD
CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.3GHz LGA 1155
Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 3.5″ SATA 6.0Gb/s
Basically when I turn on my computer my sound randomly works and sometimes it randomly doesn’t. The only way that I can get it to work is restart until it randomly works again or go into device manager and disable and re-enable the sound card. I have made sure my on board audio is disabled in bios and completely uninstalled with driver sweeper and I have made sure the audio drivers on the soundcard are uninstalled as well. I have tried different pci slots. I don’t know what else to do! Has anyone had this problem? Would these uni drivers help me at all?
CarvedInside01 May 2012 @ 00:06
These drivers won't most likely help. If you wish to try, better try with version 1.41 as it might install without any problems.
Now regarding to your problem, try to check the card in another system, if the same problems appear than the problem is the card and you need to RMA it.
SeekNDestroy01 May 2012 @ 08:17
MasterFaster i love it m8 my ST works so perfectly!!!!!!!!
CarvedInside01 May 2012 @ 17:04
I have to ask you for my info, if you have win7 as your os, have you tried the 1.60 Uni Xonar drivers? Do MasterFaster's drivers have and allow FP Headphone switching in the output selection in Asus Audio Center?
MasterFaster01 May 2012 @ 19:18

Note: The new packs are the same as the previous packs, but with the correct VmixP8.dll (ver. 1.0.0.19) in WIN7SoftwareDriverdll folder.
Fizzy02 May 2012 @ 04:23
Damn, didn't fix my FP Headphone problem for Asus Xonar Essence STX. Q_Q.. Oh, well. I guess I have to stay with 1.53.
cyberrage05 May 2012 @ 13:56
thx for your great work masterfaster, i have an stx on my main rig and it works flawless! =)
Do you think it's a problem to do the same thing for the Xonar HDAV 1.3 Slim? I got that on my htpc and would really love the 1800's driver sweetness! ty =D
MasterFaster01 May 2012 @ 16:49
In my driver packs, before installation you could
copy (not move) the file WIN7CustomappVmixP8.dll
to WIN7SoftwareDriverdll and overwrite the old file
In the end, you should have the same VmixP8.dll file (ver. 1.0.0.19) in both locations:
WIN7CustomappVmixP8.dll
WIN7SoftwareDriverdllVmixP8.dll

Need help installing UNi Xonar 1800 in Windows 8 x32. I was only able to install the driver BUT the Audio Control Panel (Xonar or Asus Audio Center) cannot get opened. Consequently I cannot configure any feature ( for example the number and type of speaker, equalizer, and other) from the control panel. What can I do to make the control panel work in Windows 8? Is there any possibility to manually change configuration setting through an setting file for example? My card is an Asus HDAV 1.3 deluxe.
CarvedInside02 May 2012 @ 13:41
There is a note in the page above Regarding WIN8 CP support, check it out.
majinsnake03 May 2012 @ 11:29
Well something interesting happened. I installed those "Modified Asus Xonar DX driver v7.12.8.1800 for Windows 7" and suddenly now my microphone is much clearer. Installed them normally... nothing special... not even c-media panel / low latency. Anyway, it somehow removed the c-media panel I had going, after testing both versions. I guess it did a normal installation. I don't know about my microphone sounding louder on the sound-card than the onboard audio. I can hear myself good. My voice sounds clear.
The pack did something, but wow.
MasterFaster03 May 2012 @ 17:52
My driver packs are nothing else, but file replacements with new driver files, according to the way I described in a previous post. I used md5 checksums to compare the files, and to see which of them are different/new. I haven't change the .inf (apart from the date and version), nor the installation process, which is exactly the same as with the official ASUS drivers.
UNi Xonar drivers have additional options and features, and during installation they give you various options for better usage. As I can see, CarvedInside has done a great job, thus a big thanks to him from me. (I also give my thanks to the various contributors).
Normally if you uninstall the previous drivers and use Driver Sweeper, you shouldn't have any problems installing or using the UNi Xonar drivers. They are based on exactly the same build 1800 driver.
Personally, I don't need the options that the UNi Xonar drivers give (I'm not a musician or a music enthusiast - I'm a simple user, and I'm not that demanding), thus I wanted an updated driver build 1800, but I wanted the driver to install and work like the official driver, without the extra stuff that UNi Xonar offer. That's why I decided to create these modified driver packs.
If you want the extra stuff and options that UNi Xonar offer, I advise you to install and use them. But before installing them, uninstall the old xonar drivers and use Driver Sweeper to clean any leftovers. UNi Xonar drivers are highly recommended for the demanding user.
majinsnake04 May 2012 @ 10:38
Keep it up. Thanks!
Bryan03 May 2012 @ 22:05
Hi, does the UNI driver support 4.1 channel setups (ie. L, R, LS, RS, subwoofer but with no center)? If it does I will be very happy to make a donation!
CarvedInside04 May 2012 @ 13:53
Sorry no support for 4.1 output settings.
Bryan07 May 2012 @ 08:24
Would it be easy to add? I'd be happy to make a $50 donation if you can provide that option!
user0104 May 2012 @ 11:25
Please make modified Asus Xonar "DG" driver v7.12.8.1800 for Windows 7.
Thank You very much.. =:))
CarvedInside04 May 2012 @ 13:52
I guess your comment is directed to MasterFaster, right? UNi Xonar already work for DG.
MasterFaster04 May 2012 @ 14:27
Use the UNi Xonar drivers v1.60. I don't understand why there is a need for a modified pack by me. UNi Xonar drivers should work great and have more options.
MasterFaster04 May 2012 @ 16:27
@user01, it seems you made the same request at Asus Forums. Anyway, I posted a link there of what you requested. Though you could use the UNi Xonar drivers.
