Thanks for all the great work you've done, Carved Inside.

I want to have surround sound with my brand new Xonar D1, but I only get sound from the front speakers so far (Win 7 x64, Logitech X-540). That's why I tried the 1.61 and 1.53 drivers after uninstalling the most recent ASUS driver at the Control Panel, because of the upmix option to 5.1. But in both cases the sound card isn't recognized any more?! It's gone from the list. Plus the original audio center is replaced, but I cannot open the new center when I click on its pictogram. What am I doing wrong? I choose the normal configuration, 'Enable stereo upmix', 'Run driver cleaning before install', 'Digital signature bypass (x64 only)' and the option in the 1.61 installer to revert to 1794 ASUS Audio Center.

I cannot find an uninstaller for the original ASUS Audio Center, I can only uninstall the driver.

As a side note: I have a missing Enhancements tab at my audio device. Therefore, I don't have the option Speaker Fill. Is this a Xonar or a Windows 7 issue??

Re-enabling stereo upmix in the UNi Xonar Installer won't do what you are expecting. Read 4. How to enable stereo upmix (2.0 signal to 5.1 speakers)? (updated 04.05.2012) from the FAQ.

I am not sure what are your referring to with "original audio center is replaced". Anyway it seems like the drivers aren't installing. Follow the driver cleaning procedure from the faq. Then try install the UNi Xonar drivers v.1.62 with only the following settings Normal,"Enable stereo upmix","Run driver cleaning before install".

Enchantments tab isn't available normally in Xonar drivers (Asus or UNi). For that you have to check Alexa previous posts with a modded driver that enables Enchanments.

Do you think it could fix the C-media panel issue for Win8 AND still perform as good as Uni xonar does with Win7? BIG thanks for your effort, anyway!

Hi I'm not sure if your aware of a program called jplay but I've been using it as a music player for a while. The latest update for it has introduced asio playback, I have been in constant touch with the author as it seems the xonar drivers will not play jplay via asio.
Having had jplay support look into this it seems that because jplay asio sends 32 bit data to the dac on the xonar the dac will not initialise as the actual program runs as a windows service. Asio works fine if run as an exe but when run as a service the driver reverts bitrate to only accepting 16 bits??? I hope that makes some kind of sense and was wondering if there was a way around this anomaly??

Hi there! First of all thanks for your effort to make this Asus driver work properly.
I have Asus Xonar DG and WIN 7 x64.
The sound is much better than from Realtek onboard audio chip. Sound quality in Winamp or MPC-HC is just great... but I have a serious problem with games.
Actually with one game Dirt 3. Before I bought Asus Xonar DG Audio Card there were no issues at all (I mean... this game is buggy) no random crashes or freezes of the game during gameplay. So far I had several random crashes and freezes and BSODs.
And my question is ... is it the card or ... maybe my GPU breaks down?

I have installed 1.61 drivers taking these steps:
removed;no need to copy paste them in the comment

... and that is what I did.
But... in my Asus Xonar DG Device Properties --> http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh408/anareon/...
there is still a message that drivers are not digitally signed.
But, when I look at Driver File Details ...
    http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh408/anareon/...

You can see that all files seems to be digitally signed. :/

I have switched Win 7 to Testing mode (reboot), then I have updated a driver and next I have installed 1800 UNi Drivers.
    http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh408/anareon/...

I don't think that those freezes during game come from bad overclock or any other hardwared issues. I love music and this card works perfectly when I want to listen to some music but I love gaming equally and if it's not possible to force the card to work with games it's useless for me.

Your problems are not from driver signature. Drivers are OK with "No digital signature". That quide if for those who have problems installing the drivers the normal way.

Problems might be from GX if you have that enabled in the Xonar Audio Center.
Try a different version of the drivers.
You might want to remove the card and see if the crashes are from the card or not.

I have GX disabled. I am sure of it. I have installed your latest drivers and this is what I got --> http://i546.photobucket.com/albums/hh408/anareon/...
Now it seems they are digitally signed but when I go to driver details I see that those 4 files
        "C:WindowssystemCmiFltr.dll"
        "C:Windowssystem32cmudaxp.dll"
        "C:Windowssystem32driverscmudaxp.sys"
        "C:Windowssyswow64CmiFltr.dll"

aren't signed. :/ I am confused. I have even tried to manually sign them by using Driver Signature Enforcer Overrider but with no luck.
Everything works fine when I play music or watch movies but Dirt 3 ... just randomly crashes. :/
Allright. I will remove the card and see what will be the result.
Thanks for your work and reply.

Driver signature hasn't got a thing with driver/system stability.Thats normal behavior for the drivers not all being signed, as it only some are important to be signed in order for the system to allow their installation.

Hi.. I’m using HDAV1.3 Deluxe with Win7x64SP1. The drivers seem to work flawlessly for me but there is only problem after the installation. There was a popup error message saying that ‘Unable to execute Cmenhance.exe’ after the installation.

    • CarvedInside17 Sep 2012 @ 20:29

Well it shouldn't do that but I don't thinks thats a big problem. Which version you've installed?

I want to ask to test something if you have the time. I want to know if the Audio Center specific for HDAV cards would work along side the normal one. Here is what you have to do :download this package , extract it,copy its contents in "C:Program FilesUni Xonar AudioCustomapp" and from there run XonarHDAV.exe and see if it launches the other Xonar audio center (may launch it in tray). And report back if it works or not.

I installed 1.61 and 1.62 Beta 1. Same 'Unable to execute Cmehance.exe' error. It seem like it couldn't find the file in temporary file folder.

here what I selected during the installation. https://www.dropbox.com/s/h3ripiy7xm1nuvg/XU1.jpg

here is the error message https://www.dropbox.com/s/eatx0wa11qi969j/XU2.jpg

I've already tried what you asked. Totally nothing happened at all.

one more weird issue but I don't think it has something to do
with the driver. I think there is something wrong with my card.

The issue is the sound from FL channel always keep on disapearing. Like the windows clicking sound or sometime
during movie playback when the quiet scene and there is only small
background noise such as; insect sound then FL channel sound
will disappear. But it will always come back when there is some
dialogue or any loud noice or open speaker diagram and click
at FL speaker to test the sound from FL channel then the sound
wil come back. This happened since the ASUS original drivers.

Based on the full error message, I think you have to right click "run as administrator" the UNi Xonar installer, as it doesn't have the rights to execute.

          Ok, thanks for testing.

Yeah, if you had this problem before with original drivers it might be the a hardware problem. Maybe you should RMA the card if it still has warranty.

1.62 Uni xonar report with Xonar essence ST on Windows 8 Enterprise build 9200:

    1) C-media panel works correctly after several restarts
    2) Native ASIO works as it should.

Will have to test playback quality as it sounds differently (somehow worse) to me... Maybe it's just placebo (will post about my impressions later). I just wanted to let the others know that it works without the need to do anything else than run the installator 🙂

      2. report:

      1) Playback quality seems to be the same (at least the level of detail), maybe it's a little bit harsher - but I haven't had much time to test so this is VERY VERY subjective!

      2) Rear headphones/speakers switch still doesn't work. Sadly...

For rear headphones/speakers switching problem, can you try installing these new 1.54 drivers and report if they work? They will also work with Win8.

They work absolutely perfect with my Xonar Essence ST (C-media panel) 🙂 The only thing is, and you know that I've already talked about it, that I have noticable issues with fluent playback even though I have a clean Windows 8 64bit installation, set latency in ASIO panel to 80ms (the highest possible) and don't even use anything like Fidelizer to decrease system's performance. I have dualcore overclocked PC that should be absolutely capable to run ASIO playback together with browsing and playing games... And my computer IS able to do that - on Win7.

It is absolutely noticable when browsing on the web (when loading some bigger websites with videos etc.) or when gaming... I haven't had any troubles with playback on Win7, perfectly seamless. As this is not the only issue I have with Win8, I am going to stay with Win7 because I don't wanna get really angry again :-))

Do you want me to test anything else with your new drivers? 🙂

From what I have seen , hardware resources are managed a little bit different in Win8 than in Win7 so maybe thats why ASIO playback is problematic in win8. Anyway from my point of view C-media's implementation of Asio wasn't that good anyway. Just a suggestion maybe you can use WASAPI instead.

So 1.54 drivers are working as they should for ST/STX card compared to 1.62. Thanks for the feedback.
            Thats all, thank you.
