Thank you. Restarted PC after Install. Control Panel working perfect. Windows 8 Pro N x64 / Xonar DS PCI. Keep up the good work.
Patrick18 Sep 2012 @ 08:36
Just installed 1.62 on win 7 and also noticed that the sound was a bit more harsh. Then went to the panel and realized that none of the effect settings are making any effect. I had EQ applied before to make my a bit harsh headphones sound less so, and now that is not working. Maybe I should ticked the box for driver sweeper when I installed 1.62 over 1.60?
Any ideas?
Zeeshan Choudhry18 Sep 2012 @ 13:31
In my experience, If you set Default Format above than 24Bit/48khz in windows Sound Control Panel, it will bypass EQ (and some other) effects of Xonar. You might want to check those settings.
Patrick18 Sep 2012 @ 15:11
I have 16 bit & 44 khz in windows Sound Control Panel and 32 bit and 8 ms latency in ASIO panel as I had since I got this card which is soon 1 year and always EQ worked. Just now with 1.62 it doesn't somehow.
Edit: EQ works with all sound outputs except ASIO, weird.

I wouldn't expect any driver/OS-level effects to apply to ASIO. ASIO is meant to bypass as much of the Windows and normal driver audio stacks as possible in order to achieve low-latency output.
Patrick18 Sep 2012 @ 17:59
I know, but it worked before so I just wondered, maybe now it is how it supposed to be then.
CarvedInside18 Sep 2012 @ 19:46
hunterz0 is right
Maybe you used Asio 1.0 Patch option before, that would explain eq settings applying on ASIO output.
Patrick19 Sep 2012 @ 09:32
Yes in the beginning I used that because I got horrible drop-outs, but from 1.53 I didn't use that and still I was able to use EQ. But I have after a few hours of listening got used to the "new" sound without EQ so it's not bothering me no more. In fact it's even better without the EQ.

CarvedInside :
Driver signature hasn’t got a thing with driver/system stability.Thats normal behavior for the drivers not all being signed, as it only some are important to be signed in order for the system to allow their installation.
Allright! Now I got it but I read in Driver signature - possible sollutions that:
"Although disabling integrity checks and enabling “Test Mode” in Windows may result to have your system able of output, not signing the drivers is possible to produce problematic behavior or some functions not to load / work properly.", so I assumed that it's obligatory to have all your drivers signed.
I will test how it works without my sound card installed.
Thanks for your help!
CarvedInside19 Sep 2012 @ 14:04
Ok I see. Thats not written by me and I am not sure what fabulist961 is referring to there.
Good luck finding the problem.
Adam19 Sep 2012 @ 12:48
Just installed 1.62 beta #1. Seems to be working perfectly in Win8x64, thank you very much! I do have one question however; I've decided to try out an ASIO Winamp plug-in to get more bit accuracy when listening to music. My question is with the C-Media ASIO panel should I set it to 32bit or leave it on the default setting - 16bit?
CarvedInside19 Sep 2012 @ 13:58
Dont use 32 bit, use 16 or 24 bit. FYI you might be interested in reading in the FAQ:9. What are best settings to achieve best audio quality and functionality from my (Xonar) card?
MHOE19 Sep 2012 @ 14:51
Use 24bit if you have anything to play in 24bit (like studio quality lossless music)... If not, use 16bit.
Adam19 Sep 2012 @ 17:29
Thanks guys; I have set things up accordingly.
Alex19 Sep 2012 @ 20:45
Yesterday installed 1.62 beta 1. Win-8x64 Pro - works perfectly plus Asus Audio Center. Thank you very much!
Xul20 Sep 2012 @ 20:13
Hi Carved, I have a Xonar ST and I was going to install the latest UNi 1.62 Beta #1. Should I use the Normal or the Low DPC Latency? I love to listen music with foobar.
Thanks 😉
CarvedInside20 Sep 2012 @ 21:00
Either one. I would go for C-Media one to try something new.
Xul20 Sep 2012 @ 21:15
Ok, I'll try the C-Media ones. With or without the GX Enabled? What would you suggest? Thanks 🙂
hunterz020 Sep 2012 @ 21:50
@Xul: Skip GX unless you want EAX support for games like Bioshock 1 or older. You can always re-enable GX via HsStart.
Xul21 Sep 2012 @ 13:25
I've ended up reinstalling Asus 1794 (best for me) because the Low DPC ones didn't allow me to switch from speakers to headphones and viceversa (doesn't work - drivers bug?). Also, I like much better the Asus Control Panel than the C-Media one which I find it a bit ugly (just personal tastes though). I would have keep using the Low DPC if it didn't have that problem. :/
I am sure the UNi drivers are great if only worked perfect just like the official 1794 (at least for me!)...
MHOE21 Sep 2012 @ 17:08
Headphones/speakers switch doesn't work for ST/STX with 1.6x drivers, you have to to use 1.54 ones! Then, you can use low DPC latency mode ( = c-media panel) without any problems... Personally tested on completely the same card as you have.
badsykes20 Sep 2012 @ 18:31
Got a freeze in foobar 1.1.15 stable druing an mp3 after installing 1.54 package on my ST card..I installed over 1.51 package..Did anyone had the same problem ?
MasterFaster20 Sep 2012 @ 18:39
I highly suggest you to uninstall the old driver before installing the new one
MHOE21 Sep 2012 @ 12:08
I also suggest to use driver sweeper as you installed one package over another one, for safe registry cleaning... And you should also check Program files folder and delete anything related to Uni Xonar AFTER UNINSTALLATION.

agitofreeman21 Sep 2012 @ 21:46
Hey, i need mic dB boost for this driver. Is there any possible thing to put it for this driver? Like in realtek. The +20dB boost thing is reaaaally important. I have Xonar DG and even if everything at 100 and mic. boost checked, my mic doesn't sound good. The problem is only volume. Nothing without it. 🙁 Is this thing possible? I reaaalllly need it 🙁
CarvedInside22 Sep 2012 @ 18:04
Sadly there is no way to additionally boost the microphone or line-in.
Alex21 Sep 2012 @ 22:33
Cool, Alexa! Looking forward, thanks in advance!
Winnie21 Sep 2012 @ 23:50
Sounds really great! MOD for Essence ST would be very appreciated! THX
qaz21 Sep 2012 @ 23:50
Can you tell us where you got the extra driver files? Half of them are properly signed, half aren't and XonarPropPageExt.dll says "File not valid" on check.

Cool idea, I managed to install it successfully on Windows 8 (64-bit) with DSE off for my Essence ST. Unfortunately even though DHT runs, changing settings in it does nothing at all and running the demo tells me that my selected audio device (ASUS Xonar Essence ST) is incompatible with Dolby Demo.
🙁
Alexa22 Sep 2012 @ 23:01
Try this fix. http://www.mediafire.com/?jkzyw7mcbnlux1q
Jake Adduono23 Sep 2012 @ 02:25
Does nothing.
