win 8 64 bit drivers released for STX also =)
MasterFaster03 Oct 2012 @ 21:32
The STX 1813 driver has a newer version of AsusAudioCenter.exe (0.3.0.56)
The DG 1813 driver has a little older version of AsusAudioCenter.exe (0.3.0.54)
You can try to use various too to compare them, Apart from the different icon, I don't know if there are any significant changes.
1) Take notice that even for the same version of AsusAudioCenter.exe, the one from STX driver pack was always a little different from the one included in the other driver packs like DS or DX or D2X or DG etc. driver pack. Use a debugger, a hex editor or any other tools to check what is different (if you can).
2) The AsusAudioCenterResEnu.dll has additional this line:
IDS_PLUGIN_DEVICE_MSG=Can't find any device
3) There are no important changes in AsusAudioCenter.dll (in the new version some redundant lines are removed, because there are of not importance).
MasterFaster03 Oct 2012 @ 21:43
Suggestion to CarvedInside:
Use from STX 1813 driver the AsusAudioCenter.exe (0.3.0.56) and the rest of files, only for the Xonar ST/STX cards
Use from DG 1813 driver the AsusAudioCenter.exe (0.3.0.54) and the rest of files, for the rest of the cards.
Unless someone with advanced knowledge (like the members virus or Alexa) can specify (in detail) what unique changes the AsusAudioCenter.exe from STX driver has.
CarvedInside04 Oct 2012 @ 17:14
Yeah, I noticed that too. Thank you for bringing this to my attention 🙂
I don't think STX problems come from the Asus Audio Center, an in fact was/is a bug in the audio driver. Thinking of including them both in the next release.

NedStar03 Oct 2012 @ 19:09
Hey first of all many thanks for these awesome drivers.
I have a few questions regarding the drivers above v.153 with my Xonar Essence.
I noticed in 1.61 release notes that you state it's better to try out 153 which indeed works flawless. Sadly everything above 153 will make the audio center unusable. I've tried it with both the older audio center fallback and without.
I reckon you might already be aware of this problem but considering I did not spot this warning in v 1.62 I wrote it down just in case you might not be aware of it already.
CarvedInside04 Oct 2012 @ 17:33
Hi. Question, have you also tried 1.54 and had problems?
I've added known issues and because these new drivers are marked as beta and I'd figured most will go for the "considered" stable version :P.
These new 180x audio drivers have some bugs with ST/STX cards, I will release a new UNi Xonar version based on the newest driver files which should/could work fine with ST/STX.
Thanks for your feedback.:)
ColPanic04 Oct 2012 @ 08:19
On Sunday, I noticed that effects (eq, dolby headphone, etc) were working with the samplerate set to 96kHz with the 1.62 drivers. I thought it was just the dolby home theater 4 addon by Alexa, but the effects also work in the c-media panel.
Are these beta drivers properly changing the samplerate? I was under the impression that effects only worked at 48kHz or below.
semtexxl04 Oct 2012 @ 11:01
I hope they change it properly and it's not some kind of coincidence. Somebody can comment this with new beta 1813 driver?
CarvedInside04 Oct 2012 @ 17:21
Good point. One way to verify that sample rate works or not is to measure DPC latency when listening to music and change the sample rate. Higher sample rate brings a slightly higher DPC latency. Can't check this right now, but when I boot in Win7 will check this. If you or anyone else wants to check this and give feedback please do, so that we know exactly whats going on.
semtexxl04 Oct 2012 @ 10:46
New drivers ..interesting. Can we expect some unixonar driver package update with new 1813 version or you'll wait until stable release?
CarvedInside04 Oct 2012 @ 17:18
I am planning a new release based on the newest driver files.
Oliver04 Oct 2012 @ 17:48
I have a Xonar Essence STX in W7.
I'd like to be able swap the left and the right channels so that I can wear my headset the 'wrong' way round (cable is too short to be worn on the other side, and it's micro XLR & complicated and expensive to get a new one made up).
Is this possible with either the unified driver or Alexa's Mod? Obviously neither W7 nor Asus' own drivers provide this feature.
If you don't have this feature currently, is it possible that you might add it in future? 🙂
MasterFaster04 Oct 2012 @ 18:49
Yes I know, thanks both of you. I just knew the SupportOS=win7 (or SupportOS=vista), but I ended to use the old installer for my Win7 packs. The SupportOS=donotcare is a good tip, thanks Alexa.
Black-Pixel04 Oct 2012 @ 19:41
The 1.54 build works perfect with my Xonar D2 card. Thanks! 🙂
MasterFaster04 Oct 2012 @ 21:04
Here are the same driver packs:
ASUS Xonar DX v8.0.8.1807 Beta Win7_Win8 modified driver by MasterFaster
PCI_DX_8_0_8_1807_Win7_Win8.rar (15.55MB) http://www.sendspace.com/file/j63ufe
ASUS Xonar DX v8.0.8.1813 Beta Win7_Win8 modified driver by MasterFaster
PCI_DX_8_0_8_1813_Win7_Win8.rar (15.58MB) http://www.sendspace.com/file/oy5jzi
Note: These are the same driver packs as before, but they are based on the new installer and modified to ignore OS check, thus they can be installed and work on both Windows 7 and Windows 8.
Also, thanks to Alexa for the tip.
MasterFaster04 Oct 2012 @ 23:00
More info (important):
The official Xonar DX Windows 8 Beta driver Version 8.0.8.1807 and Xonar DG Windows 8 Beta driver Version 8.0.8.1813 by ASUS, include an older version of
Win8ProgramCmEnhance.dll (v1.0.0.18)
The official Xonar DGX Windows 8 Beta driver Version 8.0.8.1807 includes a newer version of
Win8ProgramCmEnhance.dll (v1.0.0.19)
In my ASUS Xonar DX v8.0.8.1813 Beta Win7_Win8 modified driver by MasterFaster I included all the latest files, so CarvedInside please check my pack that has all the latest files.
I used md5 checksums and other tools to check which files are changed or added and compare them.
I have also included the AsusAudioCenter.exe (v0.3.0.54) from the DG 1813 driver.
Note: The incomplete (missing driver and other files) Win8 drivers for D1 and DSX include AsusAudioCenter.exe (v0.3.0.53)
CarvedInside05 Oct 2012 @ 16:14
Nice catch. Guess I could use the files from the your pack. Thanks.
MasterFaster04 Oct 2012 @ 23:19
And I forgot to say, the digital signature of the 1813 driver is valid, even for the XonarDX.INF (I modified it after checking/comparing the changes of the DG 1813 driver).
Four lines were need to change to make the .inf valid with the digital signature. Use Winmerge to compare the old inf and my modified inf and see the changes. Or I wrote them below:
1) An obvious change:
DriverVer=09/26/2012,8.0.8.1813
2) Another obvious change:
Includes=ks.registration(ks.inf),wdmaudio.registration(wdmaudio.inf)
3) Master volume defaults are changed (this is a new change):
HKR,"Settings","MasterVolL", 0x00000001,0xcd,0x7d,0xf5,0xff
HKR,"Settings","MasterVolR", 0x00000001,0xcd,0x7d,0xf5,0xff
The same changes should be done to all old inf files, if you want them to be valid with the digital signature.
MasterFaster04 Oct 2012 @ 23:21
The 2nd change was introduced in 1807 driver.
hunterz004 Oct 2012 @ 21:05
Have you considered simply using a headphone extension cord?
Oliver04 Oct 2012 @ 23:16
It'd have to be a custom made 6.3mm female to male adapter, and would likely cost at least £50. Also, given that I already have a Centrance Micport Pro hanging off the already heavy XLR connector for the Mic part of the cable, that's even more weight.
hunterz005 Oct 2012 @ 02:21
6.35mm connectors and cables are nothing special in the US. Strange that they would be in the UK.
You could also sell that Micport Pro and easily buy a nice gaming headset and a couple of female 3.5mm to male 6.35mm adapters! I'm not sure if the STX has a built-in mic amp or not, though; it looks like it's meant for professional line-level recording rather than a mic.
Oliver05 Oct 2012 @ 03:43
6.3mm connectors that are wired the 'wrong' way round have to be custom made ...
I have an AKG HSD 271 ... any gaming headset would be a massive, massive downgrade both in headphone and mic quality. Also, yeah, STX has no mic amp.
noobpie04 Oct 2012 @ 21:15
I have no idea what happened, but my mic just went really low. I have every volume option on high and i still have to screem into the mic. I do not have mic boost on as that makes it sound like utter crap and it's still not loud. Im using win7 and an sennheiser pc360. Any help would be nice 🙂
I have a Xonard DX btw
hunterz004 Oct 2012 @ 22:43
I've never, ever encountered PC sound hardware that didn't need mic boost enabled for input from an unpowered mic to be loud enough.
You might try your mic with another computer to see if the mic has gone bad.
noobpie05 Oct 2012 @ 00:11
the thing is that i were on skype with some frieds, the mic was fine they said. then it just went really quit. Read that some elese had the problem aswell and that the ASUS people where going to fix it, ofc they never did.
The mic boost is fine and all, but it was possible to run it without for a day or so then it just crapped out 🙁 and yes the mic is fine, tried with laptop. The thing is that it just sound horrible with boost and the background noice is unbearable.
hunterz005 Oct 2012 @ 00:23
Do you have onboard sound hardware built into your motherboard? You could always enable that and use it only for microphone input. I do that for line-in because the Xonar DX line-in and aux inputs are very quiet.
noobpie05 Oct 2012 @ 00:26
I am using it currently, but it's sad that i can't just use the soundcard for it. And btw the clicking sound when i turn on the computer, that's the relays in the card, right?
hunterz005 Oct 2012 @ 00:46
Yes, it's normal for the relays to click when the card resets or powers up with the computer.
I think you can also trigger the relays by installing driver software or disabling and re-enabling it in the Windows device manager.
noobpie05 Oct 2012 @ 01:18
Thanks for the help.
CarvedInside04 Oct 2012 @ 22:34
Just checked, there is no such option in the drivers.
You could reverse it in the player. For example foobar2000 has a plugin for Reverse Stereo.
Oliver04 Oct 2012 @ 23:19
Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm looking for system wide stereo swap. Your idea helps if I play locally stored audio, and such an option is available if I'm watching movies in VLC, but any streamed media, games or voice calls will be unaffected and still the wrong way round.
MasterFaster05 Oct 2012 @ 00:36
Maybe try to use the virtual speaker shifter (manual mode). I don't know if you can do with it exactly what you want.
Oliver05 Oct 2012 @ 00:55
That's only moving virtual positions for virtual surround.
MasterFaster05 Oct 2012 @ 01:03
I never used the feature 🙂
ColPanic05 Oct 2012 @ 01:16
I have stereo swap in the c-media panel.

Is that what you mean? It wouldn't hurt to try the uni drivers.
CarvedInside05 Oct 2012 @ 14:52
Yes thats the option, I saw it before, but forgot about it. Thx for sharing.
Oliver05 Oct 2012 @ 23:19
Thank you!
All up and working now 🙂
NedStar05 Oct 2012 @ 03:34
I did indeed try 1.54 and had the problem described above.
In any case many thanks and keep up the fantastic work. 🙂
CarvedInside05 Oct 2012 @ 15:22
This in not right. Tell me what sort of problems do you have with the Audio Center?
