Someone have found some driver version compatible with Win8 and Auzentech X-Meridian without the "mess" of compatibility mode?
Thanks a lot
CarvedInside31 Oct 2012 @ 00:21
UNi Xonar drivers are compatible with X-Meridian and have Win8 support, its all mentioned in this very page. Install drivers with C-media Panel.
psychok931 Oct 2012 @ 00:40
Thanks a lot ^^ and sorry 🙂
Myko31 Oct 2012 @ 05:16

CarvedInside01 Nov 2012 @ 18:52
Nice to hear. 🙂

hi can anyone help me to set my asus xonar dx to automatically mute the speakers when i plug my headphones
MasterFaster01 Nov 2012 @ 17:07
It's a driver restriction / bug . Only C-Media can fix it.
jun01 Nov 2012 @ 10:58
hi nice carpet
hope you dont mind me asking question, does your speakers mute automatically when you plug your headphones? or you have to go to the xonar audio center to manually change it to headphones
thanks
CarvedInside01 Nov 2012 @ 18:53
There is no way. You have to change/mute manually.
jun01 Nov 2012 @ 20:50
thanks fro the reply CarvedIns, i am to RMA my asus xonar dx that i bought few days ago for this reason (doesnt automatically mute the speakers when headphones are plugged in on the front panel, like what my onboard sound Realtek does)...i guess i have to wait and see
but i have another problem here: when playing games like modern warfare and need for speed hot pursuit the screen will freeze for a second then the game will minimize and i just notice that the asus xonar audio center icon will disappear and so with my other driver icons on the notification area, any clue whats wrong here
im using win7 64bit
CarvedInside03 Nov 2012 @ 10:08
Well the DX cards don't have the automatic switching capabilities. Xonar DG and DGX have, and maybe DS/DSX.
Your problem could be related to anything, not the audio card or it drivers. Anyway, do a uninstall, driver clean following the steps in the FAQ, install again. One other thing, make sure you have GX option disabled in the panel.
jun05 Nov 2012 @ 15:32
yup you are right, its not the driver or soundcard.. its the Tune Up Utilities application that i have making the other drivers closing in when i start my games, i think everything is solved now, even GX is enabled no problem at all, i really want that automatic switching capabilities though thats my dissappointment on this card..so i will keep this card for now! thanks very much for the help i could have been charge for postage and test fee if this was RMA'd and turns up to be non-faulty
MasterFaster01 Nov 2012 @ 19:29
The Xonar DSX 1811 driver got updated today. The archive now is complete and the driver is now usable.
MasterFaster01 Nov 2012 @ 21:07

jun01 Nov 2012 @ 20:52
thanks..i'll be trying this then
P02 Nov 2012 @ 23:51
1.63 beta on STX (win8 x64) have finally a working speaker/headphones switch... although a loud POP can be heard on left speaker when switching from speakers to headphone. This doesn't happen with latest ASUS drivers. Anyway, great work!
CarvedInside03 Nov 2012 @ 10:03
Thanks for the feedback.
It should work just like the latest Asus drivers, maybe you need to make a clean reinstall of the drivers.

ASUS Xonar DX v8.0.8.1815 Beta Win8 modified driver by MasterFaster (2012-11-02)
PCI_DX_8_0_8_1815_Win8.rar (15.60MB)

Notes:
1. The Win8 driver is the same with the one previously released.
2. The new WinXP and Win7 drivers are based on ASUS Xonar DG SI drivers.
3. The only differences between the Win7 and Win8 drivers are the two .cat files and the version number written in the inf.
4. The digital signatures for Win7 and Win8 drivers are valid, so there is no need to enable test mode to install them.
5. I decided to use the v1.0.0.18 CmEnhance.dll in my driver packs.

I also got a hold of those. Anyway, thanks for sharing! 🙂
Łukasz Dion03 Nov 2012 @ 02:57
I have many crashes in games with all Unified drivers (and also sometimes with official Asus drivers), in windows logs file it says that HsSrv.dll caused most of it. I have W7 x64 SP1 and Xonar DS. I'm using latest beta (1813, 1.63) drivers.
CarvedInside03 Nov 2012 @ 10:16
Its probably because you have GX enabled. Please turn it off as it does more harm then good.
And you might want do a clean driver install, for this follow the steps listed in the FAQ.
Łukasz Dion03 Nov 2012 @ 13:06
Well, I have GX enabled, but it's not the problem - I found what causes problems, it's the HsMgr.exe and HsMgr.dll files, so I disabled it at windows startup and voila - no more crashes even with GX and Hi-Fi DSP enabled.
CarvedInside03 Nov 2012 @ 13:27
HsMgr.exe is responsible for GX. Without it, it won't work! Basically GX will act like its disabled now.
Łukasz Dion03 Nov 2012 @ 22:49
I see... But why GX is so buggy? I can't play games with HsMgr enabled... (on both official and unofficial drivers)
[btw I have 7.1 sound system + xonar ds connected via S/PDIF to my Onkyo 608 reciever].
Thanks for reply.
hunterz004 Nov 2012 @ 07:08
Windows Vista and newer use a different audio engine that is not compatible with DirectSound3D/EAX, which breaks the ability to do anything other than plain stereo in older games.
GX is a compatibility layer that gives those old games a path around the new Vista audio to achieve something closer to the desired behavior.
The problem is that it seems to cause problems (like system instability) if you leave it on all the time. It could be the games' fault, or a bug in GX or the Xonar drivers. In any case, it is strongly recommended that you have it enabled only when playing games that specifically benefit from it (i.e. games that can't seem to do better than stereo without it, or that support EAX but don't otherwise detect it).
rankena03 Nov 2012 @ 12:01
CarvedIn,its time to make NEW UNI for XP.
Michael Reed03 Nov 2012 @ 12:36
It's time for you to upgrade.
CarvedInside03 Nov 2012 @ 13:33
XP still has some life left. But lets not turn this into a debate 🙂
rankena03 Nov 2012 @ 16:47
You M$ slave?(rhetorical question).XP sound the best of all M$ OS.
CarvedInside03 Nov 2012 @ 13:25
Yes. I am working on it.
rankena03 Nov 2012 @ 16:39
Thank you men.
MasterFaster03 Nov 2012 @ 23:05
Today Daniel_K also released 8.0.8.1815 driver packs for Win 7/8.
MasterFaster03 Nov 2012 @ 23:38
It seems he patched the setup.ex_ (a.k.a the C-Media setup exe) to bypass OS check.
though. we do it through CmSetx.dll and SupportOS=donotcare (thanks to Alexa's tip).
MasterFaster03 Nov 2012 @ 23:47
you can rename setup.ex_ to setup.exe if you want to do some tests with it.
Question: Is C-Media Front Panel working well with XP ? Is SampleRate switch still needed in XP?
MasterFaster04 Nov 2012 @ 02:15
he also patched setup.inx
from what I remember usually to bypass checks (like OS check) you had to patch the setup.inx (at least in the old versions of InstallShield installers)
MasterFaster04 Nov 2012 @ 11:26
At ASUS forums, daniel_k accused my of stealing his work (he also quote my message from here about that he patched setup.ex_ and setup.inx to change OS check).
But:
1. I released the 1815 driver much earlier from him, and
2. I'm only using official files from ASUS. I didn't use any patched or specific files created by daniel_k
Only CarvedInside can accuse me of using his Front Panel switch tool in my C-Media editions and Alexa of using his tip (SupportOS=donotcare).
Anyway, I decided to stop releasing my Xonar DX packs and keep for personal use. After all the UNi Xonar drivers are the way to go, as they are universal and have more (installation) options.
MasterFaster04 Nov 2012 @ 11:45
My full reply is at ASUS forums (currently down - server problems)
MasterFaster04 Nov 2012 @ 11:47
And I forgot to say, many thanks CarvedInside for putting up with me, all this times.
Greets,
MasterFaster
CarvedInside05 Nov 2012 @ 15:13
I think he misinterpret your enthusiasm and willingness to share with the community what you know and learned as software "stalking".
Now regarding your packs, yeah UNi Xonar driver does all those things, and based on dl statistics at least here your packs have a few hits. There is also the fact that on some occasions they're presence here might actually confuse people, but I don't really mind, and at least on one occasion you've spotted something I missed. Anyway thank you for that and for the help you've done until now. 🙂
PS: I don't want to brag or anything, FYI I was the one who originally found out the "SupportOS=donotcare" solution.
Alexa04 Nov 2012 @ 13:15
This is over all measures.Who are he to say that im stole his mod. Each modification on drivers is similar.
Alexa04 Nov 2012 @ 13:33
MasterFaster please post this message from me to daniel k on asus forums because,i cant login to their s**ty forum.
"Who are you to attack me and other modders and talking about how we stole your pricip for modding. You are not proggramer, just modder budy. You also adapts and stole someones work. So if you already modify creative drivers, then stay on them because asus users dont need your support. We already have support from other modder.
Alexa
Alexa04 Nov 2012 @ 14:13
Ok,i already posted
Andy04 Nov 2012 @ 18:02
why we need 3 different person for one driver? put you together and share your know how to make one great paket without bugs!
MasterFaster04 Nov 2012 @ 19:50
I saw your post at ASUS forums, that's why I didn't reply earlier.
I decided to stop releasing my packs publicly.
After all, the UNi Xonar drivers are all that a user needs to install and setup his card. And your addons add something extra.
Maybe what I wrote may lead to misunderstanding.
What I mean is that you and CarvedInside do a very good job.
Sorry, for my bad english.
Thomsen04 Nov 2012 @ 14:09
I feel really stupid, but I need some advice on the settings 🙁
I have stereo headphones (DT 990 Pro) and an Asus Xonar DX. I have installed the UNi Xonar 1800(1813) v1.63 beta drivers. I choose C-Media Panel and checked only Run driver cleaning before install. I read the guide to sound improvements and put windows settings to 24 bit studio quality and in the driver 44.1 KHz. Now comes the part I don't understand the System Input setting at the top (currently at 6 CH) and the output setting at the bottom (currently Headphones) and in the DSP Mode I have nothing activated. Is this the way to go? I play games like DayZ, I'm not sure what output that game has though.
And as a side question, how or do I even need to enable 24 bit in VLC?
Any help greatly appreciated, I'm really thankful for your work Carved!
Cheers
CarvedInside05 Nov 2012 @ 15:39
C-media Panel has different labels, so Analog Out = with System output and Audio Channel = System Input .
That setting should usually be the same as the number of speakers (2 in your case). But for games, by setting System output to 6 channels audio on a System input of 2 speakers / headphones and enabling Dolby Headphone and/or 7.1 virtual speaker options, you can emulate the surround sound (6 channels) on 2 speakers.
I don't use the emulation options and instead rely on how the game processes the sound.
Don't know about VLC 24bit setting.
Thomsen05 Nov 2012 @ 20:22
Hey Carved,
thanks for the quick reply, but somehow you confused me even more 😀
So is this correct if I dont want to use emulation?
Audio Channel: should be on what the game offers
Analog Out: depends on my speaker (headphones for me)
DSP: Everything off
Cheers
CarvedInside05 Nov 2012 @ 20:28
Then you go with these settings:
Audio Channel: depends on the number of speakers you have connected - 2 in this case
Analog Out: depends on my speaker (headphones for me) - correct
DSP: Everything off - correct
green04 Nov 2012 @ 20:01
why equalizer doesn't work with 24-bit files? My card Is a Xonar DS with 1.61 and latest 1.63beta drivers. I understand latency matter but I would like to have it on still.
ColPanic05 Nov 2012 @ 01:30
1.63 beta here with Xonar DX; C-Media eq works with the 24-bit music (HD Tracks, vinyl rips, SACD rips) I have. It's even working right now.
green06 Nov 2012 @ 19:33
My DS doesn't work with non of them. C-Media nor Asus audio center.
