Not sure if this is because of the drivers, but I only hear a crackle when I enable Stereo Mix. There's no sound otherwise.

Might not be the drivers or might be the current version you are using. Firstly you should uninstall and reinstall the current drivers, then if the problem persists you should try with previous releases (I suggest 1.63, 1.61 , 1.54).
And give us some info your card, OS, current installed drivers.

Let us know what you find out.

        UNi Xonar 1815 v1.64 beta

Reinstalled the drivers once. Didn't help.

Don't know, could be electrostatic interference or it could be that the hardware components used for headphone output are faulty. I suggest you try your card(whichever that is) in another PC .

Don't know in your case, you will have to try. Try with 1.54 drivers, 1.61 and 1.63.
And read the Xonar manual on how to set SPDIF out (in case you didn't).

Thank a lot, I've got it all working now, I used 1.54, I guess my main problem was the xonar audio center when I tried to click on SPDIF the program would crash and not let me back in. With your drivers it worked like it should have out of the box. Thanks again you've made my morning

    Hi Carved!

You showed me once, how to set speaker-delays in registry. How is it about an adjustable general delay to equalise TV/beamer-inputlags?

    Greetings

      Hi,
I am not sure I understand, you want to know if it possible to have a general delay (so front speakers too)? Sorry, that its not possible within the Xonar drivers.

Is there anyway I can output sound via my headphones (front sockets) AND my speakers at the same time? I could do this on my realtek onboard card.

    • CarvedInside28 Jan 2013 @ 18:31

      That's not possible.

But there might be another way. Assuming you have Win7/8 and you have 2 or 2.1 speakers (and not 4, 5.1, 7.1) try this:
Connect headphones to rear speakers jack and speakers to front speakers jack (or the other way around).
Install the UNi Xonar drivers with “Re-enable stereo upmix” option selected. Set the following settings in Asus (or Cmedia) Panel: audio channels:2 sound analog output: 4 speakers. Maybe some games/applications will require to manually set ingame sound speaker config to 2 channels.

It worked for a second for some reason, then it stopped working, not sure what I changed to break it again...It only outputs via whatever is in my front socket (im testing with Skype and Windows Media Player).

Changing output to 4 speakers doesn't do anything now, however clicking the back speakers on the diagram in Cmedia to "test" actually does work...

        v7.12.8.1794 . I tried several times.
Does problem is caused because the soundcard on the motherboard doesn't work ??
And the front panel is connected to the motherboard ??

Thought I would chime in to mention that with the 1.64 beta driver under Win7- 64bit and the Xonar Essence STX that I cannot simultaneously listen to both speakers and SPDIF. I can do so with the Asus supplied drivers as well as the 1.63 uni driver.

      Thank you.
As I can't test this, I am wondering if you also tried installing 1.64 a second time, as sometimes these kind of issues don't appear after a reinstall. If you didn't & if you ever have time to try again let us know of the results.

I decided to un-install and "scrub" any remnants out of my system. Re-installed and the issue is now resolved. Great work, keep it up!

Hey, I'm having a really weird problem and hope someone can help. 🙂
I'm using the Xonar DG on a Gigabyte Z77-D3H board. Ever since I connected the front panel to the soundcard, weird stuff started to happen. I have uninstalled all sound drivers (VIA, nVidia and Asus), disabled onboard sound in the BIOS and installed the official Asus drivers. Whenever I tried starting anything that produces sound (Winamp, Youtube, even the speaker test), my PC freezes and I can only switch it off. After some googling I found this website and decided to give these alternative drivers a go.
Installing them seemed to have kind of helped at first, no freezes anymore afterwards. However, I'm now unable to play any sound at all. Speaker test in the Xonar DG Audio does nothing and I cannot even click play anymore in Winamp or any flash video.
I've tried driver versions 1.64, 1.63 and 1.54, no difference.
Note that I was able to use the rear jacks of the sound card without any problem, before I connected the card to the front panel of my mainboard. The front panel also worked flawlessly with the onboard sound drivers.

This all seems super weird to me, any ideas would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, when you say"before I connected the card to the front panel of my mainboard" you've meant to say front panel of the chassis right?
You should try again without the Front Panel connected to the Xonar card and see if works as before. Then shutdown and try connecting the front panel but make sure your are properly connecting this as maybe you are using other pins than those for front panel output. Check the manual for this.

If it still does not work, try your card in another pc and connect the front panel there. Might just be that the components that are responsible for Front panel are faulty.

      Hope this helps.

Thanks! Yes, I did mean the chassis' front panel, sorry. Disconnected it from the card and everything works like a charm. I've checked again, but I does look like it was connected correctly. I don't have another PC to try the card in, but it seems likely that the components/cable could be faulty. Thanks again for the help!

No problem. It might be the FP components of your DG that are faulty since you said that the connecting FP to the onboard card worked without any problems. So even if you don't have another PC to try the card and FP connection to be 100% sure, you might want to consider RMA'ing your card.

From where did you downloaded that driver? Drivers that are posted here don't need to be extracted, they are .exe's.

I have an annoying Problem with my Xonar Essence ST and its the same with my Xonar D1, doesnt matter what headphone or speaker i use.

if i jump around fast in videos or music titles or just abruptly stop some sound, like minimizing a game i hear a short "snap" "pop" whatever its called. can be reproduced pretty good by hitting backspace in an empty browser address bar, resulting in the windows error sound, if i hit that repeteadly i get those "pops" and if i constantly press backspace the sound just mutes, i cant hear the error sound anymore.

i tried original drivers as well as uni xonar (low latency), what can i do ?

Its strange, don't know what could cause this.
Try reading and setting things like they are presented in the FAQ:9. What are best settings..
If that does not help, you might want to look at the programs and any tools you have running in the background , check with the onboard audio card and see if the issue presents itself there too and also consider a clean windows install.

How much is your DPC latency? Have you used Alexas addons?

      Reply

      • Chris02 Feb 2013 @ 11:07

I didnt use Alexas addons, could they help ? My DPC latency is all green, around 100-226 μs depending on sound usage. I do have the same effect with onboard audio and a clean windows install. If i use the soundcard, onboard audio is disabled in bios of course.

        • CarvedInside02 Feb 2013 @ 11:42

          No, Alexas addons won't help.
Now especially if you got the same effects with onboard then these issues aren't related to Xonar cards or their drivers.Btw you should have mentioned that in the original post.

My guess is that one of the programs you have installed or some bad settings are causing this.

    Hello,
I have problem with ASIO in last driver 1.64, during playback hearing peaks ( noises ) !

And when new will be new build UniXonar driver ?

      Hello,
As ASIO seems to work just fine for me, and so far your the only one who reported playback issues with ASIO in the last couple of drivers. I suggest you do an clean install by following the driver cleaning guide from the FAQ. If you still have problems try 1.63 drivers instead.
Another thing, you might want to check your settings with the suggested ones in the FAQ at Q&A 9, especially look at your ASIO latency as you might need to increase it, or change the bit-rate if you have it set to 32bit. And you should also check with different audio files.

Hope these advices help you fix the problem.

Don't know when a new build will be ready, for now no new files are available and I don't have any new fixes in the pipeline. Right now I am looking into is adding some new features to the UNi Xonar Installer like setting and saving bit-rate and sample rate settings so you don't have to manually change them each time you install new drivers, but don't know how this will pan out. So the next release might be based on current builds but with those changes.

Is it possible to make c-media panel enable Dolby Headphone button when not in headphone mode?
On Xonar DG, headphone amp causes a high pitch whine noise. Speaker mode is totally noise free! But, no headphone specific features in speaker mode.

    • CarvedInside03 Feb 2013 @ 23:13

From what I remember, Dolby Headphone option won't work on speakers, but I will have to check this again. If it works I will post a standalone application to enable that since I can't modify the C-media Panel.

I too changed to the C-media control panel the other day and indeed it does sound much better than the Asus one. The only issue I had was a niggling rundll32.exe error that was easily fixed by disabling the icon for the C-media panel on the system tray. It seems to be fine now.

Finally thanks to CarvedIns for all the work he's done on the Xonar drivers over the years.

You might want to do a driver clean following the quide in the FAQ, that could fix your issue with the rundll32.exe error. If the issue still persists let me know along with the info as what OS you have and your card.

I did a reinstall after doing a thorough clean out of the old driver install and it is all working fine now. The first time around I omitted running Driver Fusion which actually found a single .dll file that the uninstall had left behind.
