    Hello,

I have a problem, If I listen to a song or play a game along the song, either the song or the game gets quiet and some songs with loud sounds get quieter, like something is "throttling" the sound. Anyway to fix it?

Mostly useful but I can still hear 2 different sounds go up and down when only listening to music at 65 or 85 volume.

You've adjusted the game volume as well to 65-85%? By any chance you have SVN or GX enabled in Asus Audio Center?
Which OS do you have? Your audio card is? Are you using analog or SPDIF output?

    Hey guys,
Despite never having any problems with the original asus drivers (no sound lag in games, movies,... at least) I got curious and did a clean uninstall of the original asus driver and installed
the UNi Xonar driver with the minimal latency option. My latency unfortunately is always around 1000µs (spikes at 1800µs; measured with dpc latency checker) which is VERY far from the values promised 🙁
I did a little research on dpc latency and which drivers tend to cause values like this. Having uninstalled my wifi drivers (latencymon reported ndis.sys being the "worst" dpc related thing on my system) nothing changed.
I am not very deep into this topic and would be very happy if anyone could help me 🙂
Another question: if I never had any problems using asus or Uni driver, should I even care? I think yes, because lowering dpc latency seems to be a very nice thing to do concerning gaming and overall performance.
    What i did so far:
    disable speedstep
disable usb legacy support in bios
    disable acpi 2.0 in bios
disabled onboard devices i do not use
    uninstalled vmware network adapters
    uninstalled hamachi
I will upload logs on request 😉
Thank you VERY MUCH in advance and sorry for my english 🙂

Hi. UNi Xonar drivers with Low DPC Latency option can only improve things on the Xonar drivers end. I don't think the problems with high DPC latency are from the Xonar drivers, it would be if you would have <100µs DPC latency with the card uninstalled. That being said, you should repost your problem in the dedicated DPC latency page as this is not a Xonar drivers problem. While you are there read the page and the comments posted previously. In your repost you should specify which OS do you have, if you've disabled HPET, which program(s) have you used to measure DPC latency on your system.

I commented on a while ago about audio with my card, XonarD1, specifically where the audio would only be controller-able with on the left channel and the right channel would be “stuck” at set volume, this problem was pretty damn random, happened more often when having full volume of the windows mixer, with loud music for example.

Anyway I have managed to “fix it” without restarting the pc or reinstalling the driver, which can be a finicky at the best at times….if you don’t do it in the correct order and end up having to restart and reinstall the driver.

So the fix is you need to turn your windows volume mixer to full then open device manager, look for your sound card under “Sound, Video and game controllers” look for your sound card name, Asus Xonar D1 Audio device in my case and right click to select disable, then go to, services, Control Panel >Administrative Tools > services restart the Windows Audio service, and go back to device manager and re-enable the sound card. And open your favourite audio player to test and all /should/ be well.

Please not I have not tested this on anything else besides my D1, this may or may not work, if it doesn’t work the first time just start again.
I could write a simple bat file to make it one touch when i get some time.

    hope this helps someone.

    Cheers

Hello, I have a permanent problem. Sometimes, one of my speakers begin quiter, than another one. Usually, this occurs after I launch any daw with asio support. Also, sometimes, after starting windows, there is no sound. This problems cures only with reboot or reconnecting my card in device manager. Is there any another solutions?

Why are there no driver updates for the STX II cards? They are Asus premium cards and have been out for over a year yet we have only a "beta" driver. That's just amazing. Seriously thinking of going back to good old SopundBlaster, atleast Creative tries to fix their drivers.

Because this is how ASUS supports its audio cards. They do not care.
It's useless to complain here. You should complain to ASUS support and on their forums.

i have a problem with audio drops/distortions. i used LatencyMon to see DPC spikes and the highest DPC spike with cmudaxp.sys is 440 us so no real issue. but the real issue is the interrupt to process latency when is spikes to 4000 us i can hear an audio issue and most important the spikes are way worse with the normal driver and more often.

i will remove the soundcard and check this issue with the onboard card too.

i read and followed the instructions most of them but that doesn't fix my issue. DPC Latency Checker doesn't even work for windows 8 so i used latencymon and calculated the DPC with is 0.056 ms with a spike of 0.26 ms in this short test so it is ok.

my problem is the interrupt to process latency and i'm not even sure if the driver have any effect on these.
so with other words do the driver have an effect on high interrupt to process latency?

had to deinstall the driver, restart, install the driver, restart and it works again.
but if you touch any speaker settings or change the hz settings, the driver will fail and you have to start all over again.
until 10130 everything worked perfectly fine

Update. I've checked the logs when you made the comment and your request went this way: When you clicked reply to Gyrxiur comment your browser requested the noscript comment form generation (like when Javascript is not running on your browser). But that noscript comment form generation is disabled for performance issues on the server so you got redirected back to the original page but the field of view jumped to the new comment form because of the #respond in the url which would create a new comment ( eg: maxedtech.com/asus-xonar-unified-drivers/?replytocom=117155#respond). The difference between the reply to comment and new comment forms is that the reply to comment has a Cancel button at the top right of the comment form.
I think this issue is because the javascript files that are required weren't executed the first time you've made the comment, maybe the page wasn't fully loaded and still downloading something.

Please can you tell me which browser name and version do you use?

I can confirm that there are issues using a Xonar D2X and the current drivers.

Any changes made to the card causes the card to stop working until a removal and reinstall of the drivers.

Been reading over at My Digital Life and it seems to be across most sound cards.

Any changes to the sample rate causes the entire sound stack to stop working, though ASIO drivers seem to work fine (can't verify, just relating what was posted). A reboot does not fix, you have to remove and reinstall drivers to get sound back.

I have been using this for years but recently while using my headphones on youtube i have gotten three instances where they would output an EXTREME high pitched noise constantly doesn't matter if i mute windows audio only closing the driver fixes it. It only happens rarely but when it does i almost fall of my chair and go deaf. Seriously, i use my phones (HD 598s) at 1-15 volume and this is like a maxed out 100 volume setting.

If there is any way to fix this let me know or i'll just go back to official drivers.

First of all, it's not a issue with UNi Xonar drivers specifically. You would get the same behavior if you would install the same audio driver version from the original drivers (eg: 1822).
Since you mention that you only had this issues recently maybe you've done change something in your system or in audio options. Have you enabled some specific settings like GX, SVN or any Dolby enhancements?
I would like to know some details like your OS, audio card, driver version installed.

Regardless if this issue is solved or not, maybe it would be wiser if you would get a headphone amp and keep windows volume at 80-100 and control it from the amp. In the 6-7 years since I got the Xonar card I don't think I have encountered a issue like yours but I always connect headphones to an amp just to be on the safe side.

Just a heads up: There is a new beta driver available on ASUS support/downloads for Xonar DSX, Beta Version 7.0.8.1821, dated 6/30/2015.

    Description (copy/pasted)

Xonar DSX driver for Windows 7 32/64bit
Driver ver. 7.0.8.1821 , Audio Center version: 0.3.0.69
    1. Fix ASIO 64-bit
    2. Turkish UI wording update

Whether this extends to other cards I don't know, but I figured it'd be good to pass along. I eagerly anticipate a UniXonar release! Thanks for the continued support!

I see. However on a lark I looked at the Essence STX II page and there is listed a beta of the same date and the claim of a fix for ASIO 64-bit. I don't have this hardware but I would be interested in it if the drivers get sorted out. So this may impact UNi 1.75b drivers and the outstanding known issues, but I can't confirm or deny. Again, I'm hoping I'm passing on useful information and not just wasting anyone's time. Thanks again.

The problem is already being discussed in the comments above. There is no solution. For some stupid reason Microsoft changed things for the worse the last second. Maybe this will be fixed in future Windows 10 builds. If not, when M$ stops screwing around, then compatible audio drivers can be made.

I have a question, is GX really disabled by default at installation (installed on standard latency mode)?

I am asking because after installation the hi-fi mode switch seems to be off (hi-fi label in the blue panel is black) and the HF button is showing as white text on mostly-black, however the GX button is gray text on green background by default.

Is there another way to check if GX is on other than these horribly confusing buttons?

Also, is there a way to restore the ASUS panel autostarting when installing in low latency mode? The complete removal of GX appeals to me, but some stuff seems not to work at all when the asus panel (or perhaps another background service I don't know about) is not started automatically.

      Hello Carved,

Quick question, can you just add the asus sound panel to your windows startup when installing in "Low DPC Latency" mode and it would retain the same functionality as in Normal mode (minus GX)?

      Thanks.

      Reply

    • CarvedInside09 Jul 2015 @ 00:54

In normal installation GX is turned off by default. It would be ON if there is mistake in the UNi xonar configuration file for your card.
You could check where the Xonar settings (see FAQ: Q&A 5) are saved and check the value for HsSwitch, its value is "00 00 00 00" when GX is disabled.

As it is written in Features comparison table from UNi Xonar Features page, voice effects do not work if you've installed Low DPC Latency version because it relies on those GX processes that are disabled.
If you want to add Asus Panel in the autostartup you need to copy the Asus Audio Center shortcut from Start->(...) and put in in Start->Programs->Startup folder.

        Thanks for your reply Carved.

I will check next time I reinstall the drivers.

There is something going on though, when you reinstall (Normal mode, driver cleaner option on, DG profile) and open the asus sound panel HF and GX are not the same, one of them is toggled.

I'll need to check the registry to see whats up.

I have a Gigabyte F2A75M-D3H and a Antec Sonata II case. The sound chip on the board went out and I installed a Xonar DG Car. On the Asus Driver install there was a choice of either HD or AC97. If I chose AC97 on win8.1 I would get a startup sound once and there silence on every restart until I reinstalled the HD verson and then the sound works just fine. PanelType.exe that installs with your driver shows a choice of HD or AC97. In the Sonata case the panel is a AC97. If I use PanelType.exe this should allow me to use the front panel withou a lss of sound as I experienced with the Official Asus drivers?
