Unfortunately, Equalizer APO doesn't work with Uni Xonar. There are issues with ASIO. So I uninstalled UNi Xonar, did run CCleaner, installed the latest ASUS driver. However, Equalizer APO still doesn't work, since there are some parts of UNi Xonar left. In the systray, there is the C-Media panel - Uni Xonar driver thing. is there a way to remove all remains of ASIO/UNi Xonar?

Follow the steps in FAQ: Q&A1 Extended driver cleaning guide.
Equalizer APO does not work maybe because you need to reinstall it after driver change. There is no reason why it would work with original drivers and not work with UNi drivers.
I would like to know which UNi Xonar drivers have you tried, what is the driver version (eg: 1794, 1822) of original drivers that worked fine, what Xonar card do you have and what OS do you have?

    Hi Larry
I tried to install the driver you suggested, but there was an error message saying that there is no compatible hardware installed.
I check that the card was installed in the PCI slot properly, and the cable was also in correctly.
The sound card worked when I had Windows 8.1, but not in Windows 10 pro.

Now that Steam has updated chromium to 45 version there's no more stuttering.

My Asus Audio Center keeps saying "Can't find any device", I've tried the extended driver cleaning guide, disabling onboard audio and I've also checked the Hardware ID's. This happens to both the official drivers and these ones.

Which card do you have? You OS? Did this happen out of the sudden? Does the audio playback work?

I have the Xonar DX and I installed the drivers on a clean installation of Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) and the audio does playback.

Maybe your antivirus blocks some files from the installation. You could view its quarantine and the protection log. You could also install with antivirus protection disabled and see if that works.
If its not from the antivirus, install the UNi Xonar drivers with C-Media Panel configuration and see if C-Media Panel works.

Do you have a driver for a Xonar Essence STX sound card for Windows 10? Or would I use the Xonar STXII 11.5 v1.80b r2 that is listed on this site?

Yeah, it is the "UNi Xonar 1816/1823 v1.80a r2" driver. As release notes say the STXII 11.5 v1.80b r2 is more for STX II cards.

As i posted earlier I was working on a build that includes a Xonar D2X and Kave 5.1 headset.
Now i noticed something "odd" and i tested this with my Essence STX II with H6 daughterboard with the same result. In a 5.1 setup you need to connect the back speakers to the side speaker connection on the card to get any sound from them. Personally i find that kinda weird as so far with all the 5.1 setups i worked with (including my own 7.1 setup quite sometime ago) you connect the back speakers to the back connecters of the sound card and the side connectors only come into play with 7.1 setups for the extra pair of speakers on the side.... that's why it's called side 😉
Is this a driver issue or a "feature" and works as designed? Would this have any negative impact on the sound positioning in games?

In a 5.1 setup the back speakers are labeled as side speakers. In both the Xonar manual and Windows Speaker test these are labeled as Side speakers. If speaker test is working properly there is nothing to worry about.

        Ok
You seriously suggesting that i should read the manual.. blasphemy O_o ;-P
I will try to test 1.80b r2 tb4 at the end of next week, I'm kinda busy at the moment. I'm confident that the driver will work.

When i look on the Asus site i just see the old Windows 10 BETA drivers which were posted a while ago.

Sorry. I have a Xonar D1 sound card, and the last driver was for win 8.1. But now I see win 10 in the list.

These are the same audio drivers that I already use with 1.80a release (1823). So in the future when you notice new drivers make sure to compare the audio driver version and if its newer mention for which card and OS did you find them.

Why does Windows Defender claim the downloads (1.80a, 1.75a) contain a Virus? Trojan:Win32/Spursint.A

Hi there. I don't know if this has been mentioned in any of the earlier pages, but I felt like I should mention it just incase.

Ever since I moved on to Windows 10 I had the Can't Find Device error issue every time I tried to launch the Xonar Audio Center, as well as on Windows startup, I tried various selections with the installers, but nothing really helped. (both v1822 and recently v1823, I also attempted with the official drivers as well as driver cleanups) I'm using the Xonar Essence STX. However, I found an odd temporary fix to this, and that's to use the DDU or Display Driver Uninstaller (from these guys http://www.wagnardmobile.com/DDU/?q=node/28) and that worked, but only until I restart the computer.

DDU boots into Safe Mode on usage for safe removal of the GPU drivers, I don't know what this does to affect Xonar, but atleast it gives me the ability to actually open up the Audio Center if I want to make changes to features that's not available via the C-media Panel.

I've tried booting into Safe Mode manually without using DDU, but that doesn't do anything.

You forgot the link for the screenshot. Anyway don't think I would do any good in this situation.
Do you have GX enabled or disabled? Does this happen more than once? Which drivers have you installed and what OS do you have?

I tried this new version like before when I had the same problem with muting both active audio streams while one of them is in exclusive mode (WASAPI). While in first case new revision helped this time it is still the same problem even after upgrading to 1.80a r2. I guess that this is not fixable through modding but driver's fault sadly.

I'm sorry I don't understand which issue is fixed and which one you still have with 1.80a r2. So if you can clarify. Thanks.

I was referring to an old issue which was present with 1.75a r1 & then fixed with 1.75a r2 (which I'm using now). Playing 2 audio streams simultaneously while one is in exclusive mode (WASAPI event mode in my case @ foobar2k) is causing muting both of them. The same situation is happening with all 3 revisions of 1.80a drivers r1, r2 & also with r3. I try to play some song in foobar then open let's say opera and play some youtube video. In normal circumstances youtube video should be muted but instead foobar + video is muted till I push playback slider a bit or close video. Weird.

First of all: i want to thank you for all your effort and exceptional work here.
Now, today i've installed UNi Xonar STXII 11.5 v1.80b r2 drivers on my Essence STX and it's working flawless here, on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. I have it tested, using for it J River 20 in kernel streaming audio mode, as well i've checked ASIO behaviour during wave audio recording test. With Asus Audio Center off, Xonar Swith off, stereo analog output. Since WASAPI or Direct Sound are not interesting me at all, so i didn't check it... Results are great! For very first time since i bought Essence STX (over two years) using ASIO i haven't experienced not even a single driver crash during audio wave recording. Outstanding!!! DPC latency during testing Kernel Streaming was pretty stable and low: 80µs - 100µs. Conclusion: STX with STX II drivers installed is performing like never before, simply perfect (at least for me). Much obliged, Carvedinside. KUDOS!!!

Will there be anymore updates? 1.72 performs better than 1.8 on my computer (win 10 64bit).

See FAQ Q&A 13. What do you mean by it performs better?

      Reply

      • Bloody19 Oct 2015 @ 13:10

My computer runs smoother. 1.8a r2 (I have essence STX) feels like it uses more computer power. My fps is the same. For an exemple if you have a stream running in the background, you can feel when you move your mouse around in game that it's not as smooth. That is how 1.8 r2 feels compared to 1.72.

how can i include ASIO 2.0.0.14 with the 1823 drivers?

    Reply

    • CarvedInside19 Oct 2015 @ 22:09

You can't. If it was possible I would have included them with the 1823 drivers. They are made for STXII drivers only and I wasn't able to mod them to work with the standard drivers.
