Hi,
Before knowing XonarSwitch, (perfect tool !!!) I was looking to switch on the fly to DTS my Xonar D2 when I saw this page http://code.google.com/p/xonarswitcher/ and I found this lines in regedit :

Do you think there is any chance of improvement to set the external Spdif receiver to 24bit instead of 16 ?
Bruno+Ferreira11 Dec 2013 @ 00:21
Realistically, only of you're resampling your music and/or have 24-bit material to begin with.
In theory, 24-bit would allow the Windows mixer to do its thing better, but I have no idea what its precision actually is.
Bottom line: not likely.
CarvedInside11 Dec 2013 @ 16:15
Those registry options are from another audio device, not the Xonar card.
kaz11 Dec 2013 @ 17:26
Oh, ok, I remember now ! It was my USB to Spdif Transport Lindemann I think. Too much time I didn't make a fresh install of Windows... 😉

Hi, I have just installed Uni Xonar drivers 1.71. I have a HT Omega Claro Halo and when I click to open the Asus Audio Center nothing happens (windows loading icon for a few seconds then it goes away and nothing pops up). My sound works but I cannot get Asus Audio Center to open. I already tried doing a clean install.
If anyone could help that would be great!
CarvedInside11 Dec 2013 @ 16:12
It's because ASUS Audio Center does not support other cards by default. Therefore out of the box you can only use the C-Media Panel.
I would recommend to talk to Giulio for adding support for HTOmega cards in XonarSwitch. At the bottom of the post there is a section "How to contact the author".
Aaron11 Dec 2013 @ 23:38
If Asus Audio Center does not work what is the advantage of using Uni Xonar over the original Omega drivers?
CarvedInside12 Dec 2013 @ 18:20
There is this page UNi Xonar features, check it out.
kaz11 Dec 2013 @ 10:28
I was thinking about movies soundtrack in DTS, which are 24bit native most of the time. But maybe with the DTS interactive encodes with 24bit which reach the receiver whereas the output spdif is 16 or 24bit in regedit.
What do you think about it ?

Hi.
I try to figure out my issue with upmix (2.0 to 5.1) but still with no success.
So I install your latest drivers, with enabled "Re-enable upmix..." option, after installation I set up input to "2 CH" and output to "6 speakers" (or to 5.1 in original skin - I've tried both of them).
So, if I play some music or movie (with player that configured for 5.1 system) - I can hear front, rare and center satellites, but my subwoofer is completely silent.
If i Just switch input to "6 CH" and play some 5.1 movie - all satellites and sabwoofer are played in correct order, and the main point is that I can hear voice from the center satellite.
I switch back to "2 CH" input and additionally swap center\bass (with option in driver at the right from output dropdown selection). After that I can hear front and rare satellites and sabwoofer (and it's great!) but center is silent.
In general I'm satisfied since I don't need center.
But the main question - is it correct behavior I described (to swap center\swap for upmix scenario, and canter become silent) or I miss something?
Thank you in advance.
In addition to my previous message I want to add that “Stereo-upmix OFF.exe” patch do nothing for me – I try to run it several times, even with forced admin privileges and still I can hear that 2.0 is upmixed to 5.1 (or it’s better to say 4.1 in my case).
CarvedInside14 Dec 2013 @ 20:37
This is how it works. There is nothing we can do about it.
You should try searching for a stereo upmix plugin for the audio player you use, and use that to get upmixed sounds instead of the upmix feature from the drivers.
"Stereo-upmix OFF.exe" didn't work probably because there was something using the audio driver and prevented the driver from restarting. More info in the application readme file.

I would like my Xonar D2X to keep the aux input channel after my PC comes back from hibernation.
Currently upon wake I have to switch to not aux input then back to aux input.
CarvedInside14 Dec 2013 @ 20:29
You could try with different driver versions as it could be a bug affecting in a specific version. Let me know if this is the case.
If it's a general bug, I'm not sure if I can do something about it, but I will try to look into it.
James19 Dec 2013 @ 07:53
I could try older drivers but I have only ever used the current ones on a fresh windows. Btw never installed asus driver just yours from scratch
nsp18 Dec 2013 @ 12:50
I have a asus dx card . I updated the drivers to uni 1.71. but the ouput channels are getting mixed. Like if I configure the output stream to only two channels of the card ,all other output ports of the card gets the sound.
CarvedInside18 Dec 2013 @ 19:17
But did you have this issue before, with original drivers or a previous uni xonar driver version?
lumzi2303 Jan 2014 @ 22:33
If you are using low DPC mode, and change the sample rate/bit depth in windows sound panel (for whatever reason) will you have to enable C-media or xonar and change them too so that they match?
Also, thanks for all the hard work. These Uni drivers are great.
CarvedInside04 Jan 2014 @ 02:02
Yes.
lumzi2304 Jan 2014 @ 17:33
I see. Thank you.
Storm05 Jan 2014 @ 00:03
Hi,
I installed the UNi Xonar 1816-1821 v1.71 driver under Windows XP SP3 for my Asus Xonar DSX.
All seems to be working Ok but I would like to know if I can set the audio card to do a passthrough to SPDIF. I mean, I would like to output the sound as IT'S and not ALWAYS upmixed to 7.1.
I can't figure out how to do it since my Xonar SX Audio Center only offers me the "DTS Interactive" option when I enable the SPDIF output.
Is it posible, please? Maybe I have to configure an unknown option in your drivers.
Thanks!
Greetings.
Ekaitz.

I uninstalled the Asus driver for the Essence ST card and the card disappeared in the control panel. I restarted and installed uni Xonar. My program list has the uni Xonar driver in it and not the ASUS driver (yes the card is back), however on the device in the control panel it says it has the original Asus V.8.0.8.1821.
Now what?
CarvedInside08 Jan 2014 @ 17:06
Try installing v1.72 again. If you still have 1821 drivers, try to install following instructions from Possible solution 1.
embodio08 Jan 2014 @ 10:30
I have Asus Xonar DG sound card and I use it with Roccat Kave real 5.1 headset! I have installed Uni Xonar 1.72 drivers and I have a question. When I enable the 6 channel mode with analog 5.1 my headset does not play correctly , only the front volume is controllable , center , rear and sub not responding.
CarvedInside08 Jan 2014 @ 17:08
I've checked and the individual volume controls work fine for me. Try uninstalling the drivers and installing them again.
Which OS do you have? Which panel have you used?
embodio08 Jan 2014 @ 17:54
I have windows 7 x64 bit and I use both panels Xonar Audio center and C-Media Audio panel! But listen that , When I use 2 channels to 5.1 analog works correct. I sound 5.1 surround with my Roccat headset
CarvedInside09 Jan 2014 @ 17:32
Maybe it's an issue with 1.72 and your card. I suggest you use any of the previous drivers if they worked correctly.
embodio09 Jan 2014 @ 19:28
First time, I install the last version of drivers which is ->1.72. Never mind , if those drivers are working correctly in my case , I will let them with the same configurations as they were before (2 channels to 5.1 analog). I read your instructions at the step nine and they don't fit in with my sound card, that's why I'm asking you.
CoachOleander12 Jan 2014 @ 17:31
Hi,
I have a xonar xense. Is there a way to use speakers and headphones at the same time?
Thanks for your work.
CarvedInside12 Jan 2014 @ 19:48
Hi. This would be only possible if you would have only 2 speakers and you would not need other Ohm setting for the headphones. How to guide: enable stereo upmix and set the settings in the audio panel to 2 channels and 4 speakers, connect the speakers to front channels jack and connect the headphones to rear channels jack.
nikavelli12 Jan 2014 @ 19:00
I'm using a Xonar ST on Windows 8, with 1.72 drivers. I'm trying to discover the best audio settings to emulate surround sound with Battlefield 4. In-game settings are set to "Surround" and "Hi-Fi". My Xonar settings are "6 channels", "48KHz" and "Dolby Headphone" enabled.
The only thing I'm not clear about is what should my Windows settings be set too? Do the Xonar Audio Center settings sync (or override) with Windows settings. For example, if set sample rate to 48KHz in Xonar Audio Center but set sample rate to 44.1KHz in Windows (CD Quality), which sample rate am I using? If I set channels to 8, but Windows is configured for 2 speakers, how many channels?
CarvedInside12 Jan 2014 @ 20:07
You need to set the Windows settings to the same settings you've used in the Audio Panel. This is only needed for settings sample rate, which is 48 KHz in your case. The other settings like number of speakers are synced.
The Windows value is the one which is used by the applications. In your case you actually have sample rate set at 44.1 KHz. Number of channels is a different setting from the number of speakers, but both should be the same (like 8 channels and 7.1 speakers).
nikavelli13 Jan 2014 @ 01:56
I always thought number of channels in Audio Center = number of speakers in Windows. So let me make sure I understand this correctly:
Audio Center: Sample Rate = Windows: Sample Rate
Audio Center: Analog Out = Windows: Number of Speakers
Audio Center: Channels = Windows: ???
But I guess all this doesn't matter because supposedly Audio Center is syncing my settings with Windows (except for Sample Rate)?
What I'm trying to do is make sure Windows/Audio Center is accepting the 5.1 signal being sent by the game so Dolby Headphone can mix it.
I'm so used to Windows XP. Right-click speaker icon in Taskbar > Properties > Advanced > Set to 5.1 surround speakers. That was the only setting you changed in Windows.
nikavelli13 Jan 2014 @ 12:05
Nvm, I figured it out. The "Channels" setting changes the speaker output in Windows. Example, when I choose 6 channels, Windows automatically changes to 5.1 speakers.
I still find it odd how the Sample Rate setting does not sync with Windows. What's the point of even having that option then? You still have to go to Windows and manually change the sample rate again. Shouldn't be that way...
CarvedInside13 Jan 2014 @ 14:33
I agree it's odd. You can read more about this in the comments here.

I'm not sure what to do. Everything was running just fine for the longest time. I was running into some audio issues after an uni driver upgrade, so I did a thorough uninstall before attempting to reinstall the latest drivers. Now I get the dreaded "please plug in your xonar device" error every time during installation.
CarvedInside16 Jan 2014 @ 22:01
Check the solutions from this page.
Justin22 Jan 2014 @ 03:36
I had the 1.71 audio driver installed on my system for Windows 7 64bit everything was perfectly fine. I thought I would install off the website 1.72 since it was a updated driver of what I currently had installed. I uninstalled the previous driver 1.71 restarted my computer and tried to install the new 1.72 driver (There was a option for a clean install) did that and selected my Xonar Essence STX card. Windows kept bugging me about the audio device of how it was uninstalled and what to choose to use now. Installation was super slow and then when it got to 100% it did not finish it just sat there forever and kept asking me to plug in my Xonar Essence STX audio device (Its plugged in) It said retry or cancel tried retry once then clicked cancel....after that it said thank you and clicked finish. I restarted my computer but it would not restart just stayed at shutting down....idk why. I came back to desktop and it did not install correctly there was no audio center on the icon section or in add/remove programs. I tried re-installing it this time using the default audio device not selecting my specific card and it installed fine and it cleaned out the previous version. Any idea to why this happened? Should I be OK now? Idk what that was about.
CarvedInside22 Jan 2014 @ 17:00
Yes you should be OK if drivers are working and the Audio center have been installed. Not selecting the card in the UNi Installer has nothing to do with installation failing. You can try a reinstall (no uninstalling) with your card properly selected now, should work fine and apply the specific configuration for your card.
These kind of issues happen from time to time on some peoples PC's, it's a conflict/issue with the driver installer (that is done by C-Media).
Goram Soundcards25 Jan 2014 @ 23:56
Hey dude I got an asus dgx today, heard you had some kickass drivers so installed them too. Can't get 5.1 analogue out to work though, in the sound test on the front left and front right play, even when audio channels are set to 2. If I play a movie or game I seem to get background tracks playing fine but the center/voice channels muted.
windows 7, 64 bit.
Any ideas? Will try previous versions of the driver now..
Oops, forgot to add I installed the 1.64 (stable) version
CarvedInside26 Jan 2014 @ 20:24
Hi. If you've set the right settings 6 channels and 5.1 speakers in the audio panel, then check your connections. If connections are fine, it could be something wrong with the card.
Goram+Soundcards27 Jan 2014 @ 00:18
Using the OGB cables supplied with the speakers, have an optical cable too. Switching between the modes 'Optical' and 'Stereo1' doesn't really make much of a difference. Setting it to 5.1 analogue out and 6 channel gives me sound out of all the speakers, but still only the front and left when I click them in the Uni Xonar Utility, and playing movies does not have the voice tracks. I can get voice when it's set to 5.1 and 4 channels, and this seems quiter (perhaps just more normalised and levelled) than Analogue Out set to 2 speakers 8 channels.
Perhaps a faulty DGX? I was thinking about replacing it with a Xonar DX or just going back to onboard sound, it'll bug me having it set up but in the back of my mind wondering if I'm missing channels.
CarvedInside27 Jan 2014 @ 01:46
Have you tried with different drivers? In which panel have you tried as there is no UNi Xonar Utility? Speaker test is the key , both in the panel and in Windows speakers test.
If the connections and 5.1 speakers work fine with the onboard card, then I think the card is faulty.
