Hello. I have a slight problem that I'm not sure is possible..

I'm using a Xonar DX. However, the Xonar DX card i'm using for everything (games, mpc hc, you name it).. but not Mumble.
On Mumble i'm using my Realtek card on my MSI Z87 G45 Gaming motherboard. Why you may ask 😛

The reason is simple, I wan't two different outputs at the same time. First of all when i stream, I can configure to not have any sound from Mumble but still
have everything from the game/music or w/e. Second, I can have loud music without any bother to adjust the volume of Mumble in the Windows control down at the clock.
All this works perfect.. not realy tho. I use headphones for this, Sennheiser G4ME Zero, so to be able to do this I'm using an splitter (1x 3.5mm female into 2x 3.5mm male)

By doing this, I'm getting some weird static/buzzing sound mostly when playing games, but can get it when just using Chrome. Moving the mouse over the tabs in Chrome can
cause this sound, but not loud, just a quiet buzzing. When it's in the worst state I can manage to get it to go away. I have to move the cable around a little, put them in a special position.
And all of this is just annoying as hell.

Any idea how to get rid of this OR is it possible to use Xonar DX for this? Using the two outputs (Backpanel and the Frontpanel) at the same time?
Or is it only possible to switch between them and use only one of them at once?

(Side note: Microphone on the Xonar DX sucks, so I'm using the Realtek for that).

Hi, the driver is much better than the factory one, my only problem is that the line in volume control doesn't work when recording in ASIO mode, not even in the system mixer (Xonar DS, Audacity). Is there any solution? Sorry for the laymen question.

Hi! I'm using UNi Xonar Drivers since 2012, and it's works great!! Thank you very much for you dedication.
I have a Marantz SR7002 connected using discrete 7.1 channels analog input. Using this input the receiver just turn off any tone/crossover/speacker distance control. This way you get the better audio quality possible with this setup.
I'm facing a little issue using my D2X analog output: If I use audio via HDMI (AMD 7970 video card), I can setup speaker distance to compensate subwoofer delay (there is a delay in every single subwoofer). My subwoofer is located at 2.4 meters from listening point, and Audissey calibration reports 3.8 meters. This difference is because the lag mentioned.
Ok, the problem is, when I use my analog outputs, I can't use speaker distance on my receiver. So, I need to use a software delay for my subwoofer. For music I use Foobar with "channel mixer" dsp, who let me select distance or miliseconds for each channel (included subwoofer). But for movies, I can't find any way to achieve it. I'm using Potplayer and I looked everywhere for a solution (I also tried to find a VST plugin).
Does anyone faced this "common" issue? I saw in Xonar control panel there is a way to change speaker distance, but there is nothing for subwoofer channel.
Any information will be very helpful. I'm out of option at the moment.
    Thanks!!!!

    Hi,

been a fan of your website for a while,

I just got a new Asus Essence STX 2 today, the Asus driver ( v 8.1.11.5) installs ok under Win 8.1 64 bit but I was wondering if there was any plans to do a Maxtech driver for this board?

    Hopefully.

    Tex.

      Hi,
First let me take the time to thank you for the many donations you've made over the time.
UNi Xonar drivers for STX II cards are on their way. I am working on making some changes and improvements to the UNi Xonar installer so the release of those drivers depends on how fast those things will go. Hopefully it won't take long.

I really looking forward to uni xonar for my essence stx II. I'm on asus's official driver but it keeps cutting my 5.1 sound to 2.1 during playback. It's really annoying and defeat the purpose of having 5.1 soundcard.

Is there a way to make both the front and back panel output audio at the same time instead of disabling the back whenever the front is plugged in?

The UNi Xonar 1816/1822 v1.72 installer gets stuck during the driver installer, "Installing UNi Xonar Audio Driver..."
The popup which shows the progress bar will slowly and constantly fill up eventually showing 100% (while this is not the case), presumably gets stuck on trying to detect the card?
The process has to be killed manually to end it.

    Windows 7 SP1 x64
    Asus Xonar DGX

The stable version (UNi Xonar 1814/1815 v1.64 r2) installs fine for me so I will be using that. Have not tried any other versions.

Eh, just got back from a windows reformat and the last thing I need to do is sound. Tried the official DGX drivers and it wouldn't recognise the audio card, even though it's in device manager as Asus Xonar DGX.

Trying to install your uni xonar ones and it seems to be stuck at the 100% mark, not flashing up any messages. Been this way for over 15 minutes?

    Hello,

I have a serious problem with UNI drivers. Like really serious one.
I'll begin with how it started. I was looking for a way to get rid of click and cracks caused by wireless card (high DSP latency)
So during that I switched the card to another PCI port, one that doesn't share any IRQs. And reinstalled the drivers along the way. After reinstalation most bizarre issue started to happen.

    The issue part 1:
Channels in any 2+ channel settings channels started to SWITCH PLACES, at first they played in stereo but after a while some cracking and clicking occurred and left and right jumped to rear channels! Then to center and right surround. Other channels were mixed up as well.
NOTE: If I tried to check every channel by clicking on every speaker in C Panel, after a few clicks they magically returned to their rightful place. After 30 seconds of any playback they started to jump again.

What did I try to do in order to fix it:
I tried to reinstall the drivers by your reinstall guide, using bat file and driver fusion. Several times. I tried to restore windows to previous state but to no avail as there was only 4 rescue points.
I ended up installing ASUS original drivers but the issue only got worse.

    The issue part 2:
Now windows starts with switched channels.

NOTE: Using foobar2000 with ASIO as output everything is perfectly well.

    My conclusions:
Since ASIO is perfectly fine, the problem is not in the hardware or speakers, it lays within software part of the drivers.

Please help, I'm out of ideas on how to fix it.
And for your info, yes I managed to significantly reduce cracks and clicks...... -.-'

    My setting:
Win7 64bit Pro (updated to the max)
DFI LanParty LP UT P35 (latest drivers)
    Intel Q6600
    Radeon HD 4850 (latest drivers)
    ASUS Xonar D2/PM
    5.1 Speaker set
Wireless card TL-WN851N V2 (latest drivers)

If you are developer of UNI drivers and are willing to help please contact me via email and we will post solution to this problem elsewhere 🙂

    Best Regards
    Szymon K

Hi again, I managed to detect direct cause of my troubles, it is the wireless card, when turned off it stops interfering with audio, and no channel swapping takes place. Now I can't remove drivers for the network card at all.

Self replying again but I found the solution.
While I was trying to understand the issue and make the swap happen I disabled WiFi card while listening to music at proper speaker setting and at that exact moment speakers swapped! God bless! So with disabled WiFi card everything was just fu****g perfect, no internet as a fallout, but still, case solved. Call me Sherlock.
        So the universal solution is:
        1. Check if your audio card is in proper PCI/PCIx slot. The one that doesn’t share IRQs with anything else. (msinfo32 tool – google it)
        2. If it does share it’s IRQ swap it to another PCI slot – there should be a note in Mainboard manual weather an independent port exists or not.
        3. If by some miraculous means you don’t have a port that doesn’t share any IRQs use one that shares the least or make a reasonable guess.
        4. Set your speakers to more than stereo channels.
        5. After that close all programs and run some long stereo mp3 that you will find good to hear when channels swap.
        6. If the channels swap by themselves after 30-90 seconds of idle windows and mp3 playback it’s not a bad sign.
        7. Launch device manager and try to disable everything you don’t need, like network cards, additional audio cards, any peripheral devices non essential to system.
        8. If channels swap during disabling any of those devices reset the speakers to proper setting and enable that device.
        9. If no controlled swapping occurred and everything is disabled check if swapping still takes place.
        10. If it does I have no idea, keep looking, if it doesn’t it means that some device causes the issue.
        11. When you are not sure if the device you just enabled/disabled caused swapping just play some music and wait for the swap. (Obviously obvious but I’m writing this as clear as I can)
        12. If you are sure then try to enable all other disabled devices and see if that was the only reason of channel swapping.

Thank you for your attention ^^

    Hi Guys,

I have a really annoying problem. I use the C-Media Panel for my Xonar D2X and I try to calibrate the volume of each speaker separately. The problem is, that the bar is buggy.. So I try to set the front left speaker to -4 dB but when I drag the bar only -3 db or -5 dB are possible. Some figures are not possible. Is there a workaround in the registry or something else? Here is a picture of the Panel:

That problem is caused mainly by the fact those tiny sliders are so small that they lack the resolution needed to allow for a 1dB change. On top of that, dB are a logarithmic scale, and therefore if you change dBs directly with a slider, like it happens in the C-Media and ASUS control panels, the perceived volume change isn't linear and that doesn't help if you are trying to achieve fine calibration.

I suggest you try XonarSwitch to see if it performs better in your case. The individual channel controls are in the mixer tab.

For the mixer playback settings, XonarSwitch uses audio tapered volume controls:
      http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/dd370798(v=vs.85).aspx

It applies the same curve as the Windows master volume control. Also, the sliders are bigger. You should have higher precision.

Do I have to use the XonarSwitch instead of the C-Media Panel or can I use it at the same time?

        Reply

        • Giulio01 Oct 2014 @ 12:11

You can use both. XonarSwitch is just the executable inside the zip file and doesn't require an installation, so if you don't need switchable profiles and prefer the C-Media Control Panel interface for a daily use, you can actually use it just to calibrate your channels and then delete it.

Keep in mind that if you have bnoth applications open side-by-side, you won't see the channel sliders move in the C-Media Control Panel as you adjust their volume levels in XonarSwitch.

That isn't a problem with XonarSwitch itself, but rather a limit in how the C-Media control panel is designed. To see changes reflected inside it, switch tabs back and forth or close and reopen it.
