I'm probably pissing into the wind here hoping for the impossible but I'll ask anyway. Firstly, does anyone know of an Xonar DX 7.1 mod that can be done to provide the card with enough power so that it doesn't have to use an FDD cable, and second is it in any way possible to integrate the Asus Xonar AE control panel into the unixonar driver? (preferably 1823 as I've tested that with everything and it just works flawlessly). As far as I know the Xonar AE is still using the CM8788 it just got transplanted to a new PCB design and dropped to 5.1 to make the SOAR look more appealing. I still love my Xonar it wipes the floor with literally almost every other sound card out there but the control panel side of things is starting to be lacking for my uses and needs :o(

OS: Windows 10 - 64bit
Internet connection: 100mbit down - 45mbit up (ethernet cable no wifi)
Soundcard: Essence STX I
Driver: 1.80a
Issue: Lately i have been getting a lot of problems in Discord where my friends starts sounding robotic and laggy. This mostly happens when I play a heavy load game and stream footage over discord while watching my friend's stream too. I have been in talks with Discord's support but they aren't sure either. Today however i bumped into this topic on reddit: https://old.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/48x3bc/discord_has_peculiar_way_to_access_my_sound_card/
The top post describes my issue nearly perfect: "Same here, using Xonar DSX. Also having weird problem: my friends are lagging pretty often, their sound comes robotic/laggy for a second or something.. They dont have that problem, and my voice is not lagging either. Also having high-end computer and stable 60/10 connection with 33ms on our server. Weird.."
I really do not want to use onboard sound but these issues with Discord and the robotic sounds are starting to get to me. Without physically removing the Essence STX and uninstalling its drivers. Is there any other way to see if it is indeed the Essence STX and/or the unidrivers which conflict with discord?

Which CPU, which motherboard, which video card?
Try each of the following:
1. To disable the ASUS Xonar card: Open Windows Device Manager, expand "Sound, video, and game controllers", select the Xonar card, right click and "click Disable device". See if it you still get the same issue with the onboard sound card.
2. Which panel configuration did you chose when you installed UNi Xonar drivers? If it was Normal, then reinstall the drivers (can be overwritten) with "Low DPC Latency" or "C-Media Panel" configuration, and restart the PC. If you had Low DPC Latency, try reinstalling with Normal configuration.
3. Change priority to "High" for all Discord processes. You can do this by going to Windows Task Manager->Details-> right click on a discord process->Set Priority->High. You'll have to redo this each time to start Discord again.
Report back and we'll see what else you can do.

CPU: AMD 5800x3d
Motherboard: B550 Aorus pro v2
GPU: EVGA Rtx 3080 ftw3
1. Preferably i will skip for now and see if the following will help. If nothing else work I will uninstall the Essence STX and physically take it out.
2. I had it installed with Low DPC Latency and as of now reinstalled it with Normal configuration.
3. Will try this too
I will try these settings out for a few sessions and report back. So far after the first one it seems to not show the issues.
Pengu28 Sep 2023 @ 06:29
Issues still remain. I have tried:
- Steps 2 + 3
- Removing latest Nvidia driver (537.42) with DDU in safe mode and reinstalling it.
Pengu01 Oct 2023 @ 02:40
I explained the situation in detail to Discord's support. Best advice they gave was for me to upgrade hardware due to high usage...
I found a work around which seem to work so far:
- Stream gameplay on discord client as usual
- Use secondary discord account and watch friend's stream via the browser. (on same PC)
So far this is the only reliable yet annoying work around I've found. Told discord support about it but have not received a reply yet.

Fresh install of Windows 10 and cannot get Uni Xonar drivers running 🙁 UNi-Xonar-1823-v1.80a-r3
It only installs when in Test Mode but drivers still show up in Device Manager as "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device"
I even tried the last beta file from Asus direct and still same issue. Any WHQL signed version of Uni Xonar which works with Windows 10?
CarvedInside25 Oct 2023 @ 07:54
1. Which Xonar card do you have, both per your knowledge and what's been detected in the UNi Xonar installer?
2. But it works in Test Mode?
3. Tell me the Windows 10 complete version.
LE: Updated the questions.
Moob25 Oct 2023 @ 12:47
Xonar d2x
Windows 10 Pro
It didn’t work in Test mode. However, I found a workaround. I did a Reset This PC and after the reset the drivers worked!
Thought I’d leave that in case it helps someone.
Moob25 Oct 2023 @ 15:24
Just to be explicit step by step
1. Boot into Test Mode
2. Install driver (C-Panel selected)
3. Reboot (Xonar D2X shows but with error above in Device Manager)
4. Exit Test Mode and Reboot
5. Reset This PC (settings only)
6. Sound card now recognised and working in Device Manager
7. Boot into Test Mode again
8. Install package (C-Panel selected, clean old driver NOT selected)
9. Reboot after turning off Test Mode
This got the driver working ok for me, C-Panel running and no need for Test Mode
Hope this helps someone

Hello everyone,
I am using a Xonar D2 sound card (PCI interface) with Windows 10 (version 22H2). I have the Unified Xonar drivers installed, usually version 1.71.1.
Recently I have been encountering a lot of problems with this sound card, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced similar issues and might be able to help me resolve them.
The problem usually occurs when I am playing music or using the sound card for any audio output. The speaker output will suddenly generate a loud "pop" sound, static, or beep, and then the analog audio output dies completely. Using the Xonar Driver Restart utility from this site does not fix the issue. I have to fully uninstall the Xonar driver, physically unplug the PCI card from the motherboard, reinsert it, and then reinstall the driver in order to get the card working again. Simply uninstalling and reinstalling the driver (with a system reboot) does not resolve the problem. It seems like the card needs some kind of hardware reset. After getting it working again, the same issue recurs after a few days of use.
This is very frustrating. The last time it happened, I almost decided to give up on this old sound card. However, I noticed that the S/PDIF digital output still works fine. If I connect an external DAC and route audio through that to my speakers and headset, there is still good quality audio and all the DSP effects in the Xonar card still work. For example, I can hear the difference when enabling Dolby Virtual Speaker or Headphone modes in the XonarSwitch software. So it seems like just the analog outputs have failed.
Currently, I am still using this D2 card with an external DAC as a workaround. I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered this kind of problem? Is there a better solution I could try? Or is it likely just time to replace this aging sound card?
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
CarvedInside30 Oct 2023 @ 23:25
Hardware issue, might be from the cards capacitors.
old D231 Oct 2023 @ 14:09
Thank you for your reply.
It sounds like it's not fixable, or at least not by driver or software. If I'm not planning to purchase a new card in the near future, using the S/PDIF digital output to an external DAC is likely the best and only workaround right now?

Vitaly25 Mar 2024 @ 00:59
I have the following problem that re-occurs from time to time for few years now:
Left / Right balance is moving towards right channel, and I start hearing sounds from both channels in one of them, while the other channel works fine.
When I manually move the balance to the left channel 100% - I can still hear both channels with the same loudness (right should be quiet).
When I manually move the balance to the right channel 100% - I can only hear right channel (left is quiet). And changing the volume doesn't affect the sound.
In most cases restarting the driver fixes the problem.
The problem is occurring randomly when I use some various sound producing apps - could be a video in a browser, or a telegram audio recording.
This problem hunts me through multiple windows installations, it appears on versions 1825 and 1823 at minimum.
Mobo is asus z370 f-gaming, latest bios. +HD650 with either of the amplifications
Any ideas?
CarvedInside27 Mar 2024 @ 10:40
Which Xonar card do you have? Windows version?
I did not encounter such an issue with my Xonar DX on Win 7/10/11 and don't remember someone else reporting such an issue. Could be something triggering a Windows bug, could be a hardware issue with your card.
Try connecting the headphones/speakers to the Front Panel output to see if the issue is happening there as well. If you are already using the Front Panel try connecting to the cards rear outputs. Depending on how frequently you get the issue, you could also check with the onboard audio see if you get the issue there.
Vitaly27 Mar 2024 @ 11:44
Card is STX, using back panel headphones socket with amplification for 300ohm hd650.
Windows version right now is 22H2 (19045.4170), but the bug has been with me for few years, since 2020-2021.
This is something that people might be spotting mainly when they care about the difference between left/right channels - e.g. gaming.
And bug will disappear after reboot (driver restart in my case), so it could be be more frequent, if it's xonar related.
Vitaly09 May 2024 @ 14:36
I found the culprit, the problem with the channels is triggered by the launch of XonarSwitch itself.
It only triggers with the first launch of it after the reboot, and doesn't re-appear on re-launch.
XonarSwitch is configured for 24bit/48khz/stereo/rear headphones amp. the rest is on default.
CarvedInside11 May 2024 @ 01:11
1. If you launch ASUS Audio Center or C-Media Panel instead does it still do that?
2. Does it do that for every first launch of XonarSwitch?
3. Reset your current XonarSwitch configuration. Create new profile if you are using a profile, if not then use the "Uninstall" in it's options. Redo you preferred settings and see if it's still happening. I'm thinking that maybe your current settings profile has became corrupted and XonarSwitch tries to send some other settings too to the driver.
4. Try to find out if it's a specific setting that you set in XonarSwitch that triggers the issue.
5. Try also with the two older versions of XonarSwitch that I've added there in the download section.
If you are positive it's a XonarSwitch related issue, then you should repost the issue in XonarSwitch dedicated page.

Hey hi!
I have a xonar DGX and wanted to install the best drivers for win10 x64. Which should I download and how to install?
And it really need to be installed test mode? (yes I tried some but was afraid to go forward)
Thanks

Try 1.80a. Does not require Test Mode. You are misreading the "requires Test Mode" column.

Meanwhile I was waiting for your answer I tried the onboard sound of my mobo gigabyte ab350 gaming 3 and I was shocked...
It sounded way better than my soundcard Am I imagining things or my soundcard is obsolete? Or didnt try the right setting on the card?
Abue30 Mar 2024 @ 18:33
@KuroAisu regarding sound quality between Xonar DGX and onboard audio
Somehow i doubt your onboard sound card sounds better than the STX cards (none of the 3 mobos I tested were even close to quality and gain available off the STX, just because of the issues with AMD i ended up canning my STX for the time being and using a FIIO K5 pro at the moment to drive my 250 ohm headphones, I still can't get the quality of sound I was getting off the STX but I have to make due with it for the time being.
KuroAisu30 Mar 2024 @ 18:58
But my card is a merelly xonar DGX not STX mine costs in my country about 45€ and an STX 100-155€... A FIIO K5 pro is ~230€, my headphones sony wh-1000xm3 that has 47 ohm (1 kHz) (when connecting via the headphone cable with the unit turned on which I use), 16 ohm (1 kHz) (when connecting via the headphone cable with the unit turned off). I with a bit of twiking in the settings following the guide here I improved the sound now. but still in the same track I switched dozens of times and dont find any diference...! WTH!!
Btw with that kind of setup you have what you use most?! seems like overkill! But would love to hear your sound!! 🙂
Case30 Mar 2024 @ 20:35
My experience is only with Xonar DX, not the somewhat cheaper DGX, but it remains the best sounding soundcard I've ever had, and I've had (or tried) quite a few. Some came very close (XFi Titanium HD, some DACs). But the Xonar has a certain "sweetness" to its sound the other audio devices were missing, and it is on par in any other aspect outside of drivers.
On the other hand, no onboard sound I've ever heard produced anything close to what I would want to use on a daily basis, even those that were considered top quality and described by people as something that sounded so good they no longer needed "expensive dedicated audio". Issues usually include very limited volume (even on 16 or 32 ohm headphones, let alone higher impedance ones), lack/flatness of bass, often serious noise issues (and doubly so when it comes to inputs) and, just like the Xonar, usually less than satisfactory drivers/software. Even a cheap Sound Blaster tends to be noticeably better than an onboard.
Maybe your specific combo is different (I mean the MB seems to have a headphone amp, so maybe that improves things a bit), but I have my doubts.
That being said, if it sounds good to you, then that's all that really matters, isn't it?
Abue31 Mar 2024 @ 18:17
The only motherboard I had that had really good sound as far as I can remember is my 990 FX fatality ASrock from 2010-2011 or so, sadly the FX series for AMD were complete trash. I still have the mobo at my parents place but sadly the computer is no longer in use. I know for a fact that companies producing motherboards dropped the quality of audio components about a decade ago now since every board i tried later on just had awfully quiet sound and most of the time not very clear. (i'm on a Taichi ASROCK x470 board at the moment, despite all the bells and whistles its advertised with, it simply does not compare to that old ASrock board on AM3). Enter the STX at this point, the sound was incredible while I used it, unfortunately I dealt with system crashes for 2 years until enough was enough, I have the card sitting aside waiting for a day I can use it again hopefully, might just be wishful thinking at this point with a card this old. The sound it produced was simply perfect for me, a major range for gain adjustments and the bass was amazing on it, the sound produced was crisp and clear (on my older 50ohm headsets too, i haven't tried it on my current setup).
My disclaimer is that I do have fairly sensitive hearing but, the whole bullshit about you cannot tell the difference between motherboard and sound cards it is pretty bogus assuming you have some form off respectable headphones and not 10 dollar earbuds.
The FIIO does the trick mostly now but I can tell you its nowhere near the STX in terms of gain and sound quality, its decent but not the greatest. I think there are better DACs out there you can get but I haven't had the spare money to throw out and test other ones at this point, lets just say I have a happy medium right now.

Admin notice: comment moved from a new comment to a reply.
First happy Easter wherever you are!
To @Case well my cheaper DGX is (about 20€) than the DX dunno if only that makes all the diference!
I ALWAYS had a sound card from my second pc. ALWAYS Ive heard (pun intended!) that sound cards were better than any onboard mobos. And the first time I tried with my modest gaming headset I had at the time I was blown away with the diference!
I think my first soundcard was from creative I had two, than this one, the dgx. Never I inserted the 3.5mm cable on another hole than my soundcards!
When you said "That being said, if it sounds good to you, then that's all that really matters, isn't it?" I must say NO! No it does matter! I paid some extra to have extra! Call me selfish or something but that's my truth!
Now I have ears that most seems to not ear some sounds it seems dunno don't ask!
I should notice the Damm diference between the onboard and this cheap card right? It's not a pro one like the FIIO or STX but should notice some difference or I'm doing something wrong...!
Abue case what headphones are you using?
And I though I got one top pick (I know there are better and expensive ones) but at least medium range I don't need or True enough I don't have the means to pay studio quality sound! But I love sound!
I can name a example not long a go that blew me away. Was the sound on a bmw of a friend he had Harman cardan I think it is called the sound inside the car was crystal clear and even when he pump the switch to high was not distorted, the bass the lows wow was simple magnificent!
Conclusion I'm worried that I can't make the diference and that make me angry/disappointed!
Case01 Apr 2024 @ 02:36
"When you said "That being said, if it sounds good to you, then that's all that really matters, isn't it?" I must say NO! No it does matter! I paid some extra to have extra! Call me selfish or something but that's my truth!"
Well, either you bought the Xonar before you got your current motherboard, in which case "I paid extra to get extra" doesn't really apply because you already had that "extra" anyway, or you bought the Xonar after you got your current motherboard, in which case you have nobody else to blame but yourself for not even trying if you *should* pay extra. Either way I'm not sure what to tell you. You sound like you are intent on being upset. Have fun either way.
KuroAisu01 Apr 2024 @ 15:01
@Case, I understand your perspective, but I did want to clarify that I purchased the Xonar DGX long before getting my current motherboard.
Maybe before the last one can't rremember...!
It was a choice I made to enhance my audio experience based on recommendations and reviews. However, it's disheartening to not notice the expected improvement despite the investment right now ofc! Dunno if the current motherboard is better than this DGX!
I'm not intent on being upset; rather, I'm seeking solutions or insights that might help me maximize the potential of my sound setup.
Abue01 Apr 2024 @ 02:41
When I noticed a difference initially between mobo/sound card I was using my Siberia V2 headset from steel series. I also have some Sennheiser 599 open backs but currently I'm using a DT 770 pro 250 ohm on the FIIO.
Keep in mind, a motherboard's sound card can be better than a $20 card. I had a sound blaster goFi or w/e they were called (usb card) when my old asus board died about 11 years or so ago and tbh, the sound wasn't that great, the motherboard had better sound than that thing lol, so you get what you pay up to a certain range. USB also can't push enough power to power proper headphones so there's that too.
KuroAisu01 Apr 2024 @ 15:12
I had a Razer cacharias! And as I said right now is a sony wh-1000xm3. I wanted an ANC and with BT to hear movies on my living room and not disturb the whole house ( I know BT is a bit lasckluster!) but is what it is...!
Could I ask why did you choose a FIIO K5 pro? What are your uses? Pro enthusiast?!
Im not blowing my wallet right now but if you bought a decent but price quality soundcard what would you recommend?
Abue01 Apr 2024 @ 17:43
I haven't really kept up with other products in line, the audiophile community on Drop.com is pretty decent and they tend to have pretty good recommendations there too. I think the MODI is a popular DAC that I remember seeing a lot. As for sound uses, I felt like my mobo sound was just too quiet in general, the FIIO has 3 gain settings, i use the highest to drive the DT 770 pro 250 ohms cans, even then it's not INCREDIBLY loud but its comfortable. Sound clarity and volume are big factors for me, any sort of distortion really triggers me for whatever reason, then again, it's really hard to tell the difference from a mid-range DAC to high end too, so don't go too deep into the rabbit hole, it starts becoming a waste of money once you go beyond a certain range as in, you won't really be able to tell a difference in sound. The one issue i had with the FIIO is that the USB connection was not great, for some reason just not stable at all, i ended up swapping to using the TOS link with it and that's been completely fine. I also ended up getting a microphone amp and buying a phantom power microphone in general, I got tired of headsets breaking over time and wasting absurd amounts of money for them, these things have lasted me well beyond any headset has and there's legit no sign of them ever breaking. In general, moving away from gaming headsets to real pair of cans and a real mic is a better investment in the long run and it ends up being cheaper, assuming you got the money to drop on these things now.
Mr. F11 Apr 2024 @ 23:05
So I troubleshooted everything and I had no issues with this driver until I tried to use voice chat in Helldivers 2. It just doesn't work with my Xonar DS and UNI drivers (official drivers didn't help too, BTW). It works fine with my USB webcam mic and everything, and it's the only app that has this kind of problem. Please, investigate and maybe update your drivers.
CarvedInside13 Apr 2024 @ 00:03
I don't think it's a problem with the Xonar drivers. There are plenty of discussions around Helldivers 2 and microphones not working. It could be that in your case that the Windows default communication device is the webcam mic and not the Xonar microphone. To change the default device follow the steps from section "3. Verify that Microphone recording device is the default recording device in Windows" from this guide.
If that does not work, look at the other proposed solutions if you search for "helldivers 2 microphone". Let me know if you manage to fix this or not.
bromba29 Apr 2024 @ 15:10
Just wanted to say thanks to the author, if not for these drivers I'd probably have thrown my Xonar DX in the bin a long time ago. But the recent Windows 11 update has reopened old wounds like the right channel randomly going quiet and the LOUD white noise coming from the browser when starting Twitch or a YouTube video from pause. Started happening every day, 3 reinstall not helped. Xonar_driver_restart_v1. fixes right channel. full volume white noise goes away by itself(need to pause video for some time) or when changing any setting. These were much-much rare on win10 and win11 early builds, but for today's win 11 build 23H2 22631.3447 and current mboard MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI they return, so I finally tired of those shhhii-boom-wokege noises and put headphones into the motherboard. I used UNi-Xonar-W10-1825-v1.81a-r2 with normal - Asus Audio Center(that program not started automatically during startup). Maybe some contact not good on the card or she is degraded, i dunno.
Skelly26 Jul 2024 @ 18:00
I tried all possible uni drivers for my Xonar DX but i still get the same problems as you (extremly loud white noises from time to time are the worst) on W11, I even have the same mobo. 🙂
On W10 with Tomahawk B450 everything used to be fine.
CarvedInside28 Jul 2024 @ 01:21
Before the problems started, have you done a recent BIOS update?
First, you should look at the proposed solutions for Xonar cards and loud white noises. Especially try this and this. After which you can try the possible solutions I proposed.
If any of them work, reply to those comments stating the issue you had and that the respective solution worked. If none worked, write a new comment under that page describing the issues and mentioning that none of the solutions worked.
Then you should try the proposed solutions for compatibility issues between Xonar cards and Ryzen.
Skelly04 Aug 2024 @ 13:17
BIOS update or switching driver versions/installations didnt help, same as turning off HPET or changing 192kHz in Xonar audio center. Problems started with new PC+Win11.
Changing solely PCIe with sound card to Gen1 is not an option in BIOS settings (Tomahawk B650).
Issue occurs often in media players or any media website like youtube/twitch etc.
Skelly19 Aug 2024 @ 22:57
It seems the newly released BIOS update (7D75v1J) for B650 - fixed the white noise issue. Try it out.
mr.greyhound10 May 2024 @ 19:47
My latest observations:
When I set the sampling rate to 96 kHz on the Xonar Audio Panel, the well known screeching noise issue doesn't seem to occur on my system. Before that, I set the Xonar Audio Panel to 48 kHz and the screeching noise was happened all day long, multiple times a day. 90% of the time when I was watching YouTube.
Varying the sampling rate under the Windows audio settings doesn't matter, only the Xonar Panel matters. If the sampling rate set to 96 kHz (factory default) or 192 kHz in the Xonar Audio Panel, the screeching noise doesn't seems to occur. The Windows audio setting doesn't following the sampling rate that is set in the Xonar Panel Audio.
However another issue is happening instead: Sometimes it feels like a virtualization kicks in (neither Dolby or Sonic is active during the issue) and something upmixing the stereo sound, but in a bad way: It sounds like all the sounds are coming from the (virtual) rear speakers and the front speakers are silent. I'm not sure if it has any sense to you, but I can't describe it better what I hear. If I restart the sound card or switch back-and-forth the audio device (exactly the same things that you do when the screeching noise kicks in), the sound goes back to normal. So instead of the screeching noise, I'm experiencing another issue, but at least it doesn't hurting my ears.
----------
Second thing: I also noticed if I set the windows's sampling rate anything higher then 44.1 kHz, I hear a deepening tone above ~17 kHz on this test:
https://onlinetonegenerator.com/hearingtest.html
I only hear it, if I increase the Windows's volume to 60% or above and when the Windows's sampling rate is higher than 44.1 kHz. The Xonar Audio Panel's sampling rate doesn't matter. What is the reason of this phenomenon? Am I hearing a distortion, because of the high volume and the sampling rate mismatch (I guess the audio on the webpage is published with 44.1 kHz sampling rate)? Is it normal?
Here are my current listening settings:

Have you read my reply to your previous comment? Because it seems you didn't do what I asked. Do what I said and I will edit out that part of your comment above.
As a general rule, if there are two or more separate issues, they should not be presented in the same discussion thread. It makes things hard to follow and it complicates the replies.
mr.greyhound11 May 2024 @ 01:41
OK, forget the hearing test "issue". My motherboard's integrated audio card is disabled. The main issue with the Essence STX II is the screeching noise and it seems like it can be eliminated by setting the sampling rate to 96 or 192 kHz in the Xonar Audio Panel. Like I said no matter what sampling rate I use in the Windows audio settings, only the Xonar Audio Panel matters. A month has passed since I changed this setting and I had no problem with the loud noise since then. There is another issue happening instead that is hard to describe... It's like the sound is altered, and it can be fixed with the same methods as the screeching noise.
CarvedInside11 May 2024 @ 01:35
For the second issue, as I previously said to you: "it would be great if you can check with the onboard sound card as well, this way we'd know if it's Xonar specific issue or Windows audio issue...".

Hi everyone, I am using ASUS Xonar DGX with 10.0.8.1825 driver + XonarSwitch and for some reason audio in my headphones bleeds through my microphone in apps like Discord. I tried to use AEC but it is kinda janky, it tries to reduce it but does so poorly. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks.

Hello!
For 10 years or so i have been using Xonar DG , bought a new pc and old card cant go to pci-ex slot.
So i found Xonar SE just to find out that this is not supporting that card.
Their base driver and software is atrocious , sound is is also unacceptable ! I couldnt get sound nowhere near the same quality as i could with DG. At high EQ settings , sound is simply cutting off instead of giving higher tones..
So now what do i do?
I see that there is AE version in another country to purchase for 70Euro. (i paid 35E for SE, they didnt have anything else)
But AE is also not in supported list for this..?
IceLancer27 Jun 2024 @ 19:06
Hello, me again. My post didnt get through i guess 🙁
Anyway i guess i solved my problem. I was using front panel connector instead of backpanel. Its night and day difference.
Note to my self, never use front panel connector for sound again...
No help in getting this drivers to work but at least sound is good as it was on dg with new asus drivers and back panel connector
Case29 Jun 2024 @ 01:23
DG is based on a completely different chipset series than the SE - the DG is using CMI8786, while the SE is using CM6620A. And the AE uses a different chipset still, even though it's closer to the SE than to the DG - the CM6632AE. So the drivers are different for each of those three cards.
IceLancer29 Jun 2024 @ 08:05
Yeah. 🙁
My experience with this pcie series is really bad.
Major issues that plague SE are
1. still indeed, sound cuttoff. Anything higher then +4 (in equalizer) will result in sound simply lowering volume instead of changing sound quality.
2. Constant popping sound happens on higher then 44khz if any EQ is above 0
3. Card has constant echo effect. I have been battling with this most of the day yesterday.
I finally managed to minimize echo effect by using Speakers instead of headphones option. Dropping down to 44khz to minimize echo and sound popping and never going above +4 on any of EQ. And in order to get reasonable quality of Pitch (4-8-16k EQ) i had to enable their "briliance" option.
On DG Echo was being neutralized by turning off DX option but there is no such here. (its not mic i dont even use mic, its just some kind of super reverb)
At the end i managed to get reasonable sound from the card with those settings. But its still miles away from what i had on DG.
But there is no other choice. My only other option is to use onboard realtek which is nihimic audio. Who ever made that chip should be shot down damn! Or try and buy second hand DX pcie card and risk getting bad or damaged card.
Dark times for PC users with new pc's 🙁
Case29 Jun 2024 @ 16:23
There's plenty of good audio devices out there. No reason to cling to old Asus hardware that has been either phased out completely or on life support for a good portion of a decade now, if not longer. Despite how good that hardware was.
IceLancer29 Jun 2024 @ 22:02
Problem is lack of availability.
I bought entire new pc. But sound cards were simply not available. I was lucky to even find a single SE version. Everything else was 2-5$ usb audio cards in entire country 🙁
If you have any suggestion what to try and buy (even used at this point) i am all ears.
I was looking at used sound blaster, but there are so many daniel_k drivers for a lot of models that i was simply lost in that sea. And reddit conflicting comments were no help either.
Not sure why is my post greyed out either. I did confitm email
Case29 Jun 2024 @ 23:59
I don't notice any availability issues these days where I am (central Europe). Maybe it's a local thing.
I'm a big fan of SXFi headphone virtualization, so I've had several of Creative's SXFi devices over the years, notably the X3, X4 and now the GC7. I got the GC7 for its ability to decode Dolby Digital on the SPDIF In, otherwise I'd have been happy with the X4 or even the X3.
And if you're just happy with stereo, then there's a wide variety of DACs and audio interfaces in all price ranges (though I'd obviously avoid stuff below say 50 euro or so, most of it is rather bad). I use the M-Audio Duo for recording and ASIO stuff and if I didn't want to use SXFi, I'd be perfectly happy with it as my only audio device.
IceLancer30 Jun 2024 @ 13:21
Thanks for the suggestion.
I did look it up. But there are as i know already, none available.
One thing i noticed is that is USB card, with singular audio output. So i cant plug headset and music system at the same time and switch between on demand. It would require some kind of audio splitter.
Anyway,
I did found 2 VAT smugglers, but are asking near 200euro.Which is way over the store price. And not acceptable.
I will monitor actual shops and see if it ever appears on sale.
VAT smugglers are abusing the fact that product will be used outside of the EU so they apply for vat return and then dont declare product on our boarders but smuggle it in. Therefore pocketing VAT for them selfs.
Before Epidemic that used to work favorable for buyers. But things have changed and they got greedy. Now they are asking way more over the price of original product and on top stealing VAT. Suffice to say that if it doesnt appear in regular stores i am shit for luck.
Thanks for all your assistance tho!

P.S
I actually managed to dig out in one store Sound Blaster Audigy RX (100Euro) , but comments about it gives me pause. Reported system crashing on ryzen pc and incompatibility with win11...

A recent update for Valorant causes issues with windows audio getting muted.
Baconspleet10 Jul 2024 @ 21:24
I can confirm Valorant/Vanguard also blocks my entire system audio when using this driver.
I am on version 1825 v1.81a r2
I am in exchange with the Riot Support already and they want to forward the issue to the Vanguard Team now.
Baconspleet11 Jul 2024 @ 14:40
I got an update from Riot support:
"... the driver is indeed blocked by vanguard as it was reportedly being used as a way to cheat. In this case, I'm afraid the only option to have sound in the game is a hardware upgrade, though that is understandably, not ideal."
And I assume they are talking about the C-MEDIA component "cmudaxp.sys".
I don't know if there is anything CarvedInside can do, since this part seems to be originally from C-MEDIA back in 2016. If that is not the case, please let us know, anyway I try to get some more information about the issue from the Riot Support but overall see this case closed from their side.
Case11 Jul 2024 @ 16:24
I would be really interested in details about how exactly is an audio driver "reportedly being used to cheat". If they mean some kind of enhancing footsteps or something, I have some bad news for them, people are doing that with probably every audio device out there (I will never understand why, but they still are).
Baconspleet11 Jul 2024 @ 23:46
My ticket got closed, no further information about what exact component is blocked and how the driver was being used to cheat.
It was a real struggle to even get any useful information at all from Riot Support, but I guess it ends there.
I know its off-topic, but I need to vent a bit: I am kind of shocked how they handle a paying consumer of their game just for using older hardware. Especially since I am not the only one affected and I linked them this page and parent-comment.
IceLancer12 Jul 2024 @ 03:12
That is just ridiculous. By that criteria everyone with high end gpu should also be blocked from playing game. Since it creates "unfair" latency and fps advantage over others.
Gamers need syndicate against nonsense like that. Same as EA was enforcing Secure boot on people.
As suggestion i would try to rename uni sound app exe to some other name. They are probably using simplest name catch of the app and you can bypass that
IceLancer12 Jul 2024 @ 11:53
Ah , ok, i missed the part where you said cmudaxp.sys
Quick google revealed their anticheat protection blocks that dll.
Well, you can deal with that in couple ways actually.
CarvedInside13 Jul 2024 @ 19:29
What Xonar card do you have? Try with one of the previous driver versions, make sure it's the one specifically designed for your card (for STX II cards use the one ending with "b"). Try installing with "Low DPC Latency" panel configuration, as that configuration does not have the GX processes hooking into other processes (if it ever was an issue).
Weird and strange motivation to block a driver. I don't believe the Xonar drivers are actively used to cheat. One could only guess the real reason, if valid at all. Searching through the web I found numerous reports of all kinds of drivers being blocked. Don't think their absurd restrictions and system intrusions do much in combating cheaters but they do seem to affect legitimate users a lot.
Given the nonsensical vague reason, I am not sure what can we do. I'll keep an eye out for any other possible solutions.
